  1. I have a 95 car, it has a Scorpion 5000 Cat-1 alarm fitted. I was told that they cut into the loom, use all black wires and that you need the fob, ECU and receiver to make it work. The fob is square and has 2 buttons, a black one for lock/unlock and a red one for PANIC , which just sets of the alarm from a distance to frighten off any near by attackers. The ECU is installed behind the lower glove box, maybe from that you can see what manufacturer it is.
  2. I got all my Lexus timing parts in the USA when on holiday 2 years ago. £1000 of parts was about 800 USD, which at the time was near to £500. Oil filters were 3.50 USD.... rip off Britain, big time.
  3. Pete, it is a pretty straightforward job, but it could be tough too. not really for the faint hearted, but very expensive for Levus to do. The bolts could be VERY tight, the old rubbers need burning out and the old shells probably need to be cut out gently. It was a fun job, I replaced all mine last year. Both bushes on both sides. I side took too long, about 8-10 hours. 2nd side took about 2 hours, because I had made up a tool and I knew what to expect. Send me a PM with your email and I'll send you some pics.
  4. I got a replacement from lexus dealer. Was £54.07 INCL vat, aS he gave me 10% off (because I asked for it and declared I was in Owners Web club) pn: Y28800-YZZAG.
  5. I have a mk-iii, with 85 L tank. I have just been to Cornwall and back, no stopping and on cruise control. I got 530 miles, at 60-65mph and upon return got 75L into the tank, which is 32mpg. I wish you "VERY good Luck" with 673 at 70mph. I suspect the max range is more "high 500s", if you take it V easy at 60 ish. if you hit 600 then you will be on "very thin vapours" and empty!
  6. as well as the gear lever, the style of the head lights, and also the line on the top of the bonnet, tells me that this is a mk-ii model. I guess it is a late 94 car, registered in 95, which is why it is on an M plate. The VIN number will also tell you what generation it is. http://www.lexls.com/info/lsgenerations.html
  7. see my post #4 here. http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/ind...showtopic=62542 and they fitted a treat after I got the old outer shells out. Also, some ADUS parts and pics here. http://armstrongdistributors.com/lexus.html
  8. Oh yes, get the tracking examoned and reset. Mine was doing similait and wearing the out side edges. I used Wheels in Motion http://www.wheels-inmotion.co.uk/steeringgeometry.php they have the hawkeye system and I had the front and rear measured, and adjusted, for £95. Some of the settings were well out. I have the geometry spec for 1955 MK-III cars if you need it. Remember that everytime you hit a big bump, pot hole or kerk, it could get out of alignement.
  9. VERY Good point. Because I have never experienced the use of an airbag, I guess I did not fully appreciate it.
  10. Try: http://www.airbagman.co.uk/default.htm The US Lexus forum or instead of removing the bulb, put a bit of black insulation tape over it.
  11. I did the rear wishbone, inner, upper bushes on my 1995 car, and used 90-94 bushes by ASUS, from LDP Autos on ebay.com. They are called "bushings" in the US, rather than bushes. Car drove so much better afterwards. It was not a simple job, but I did it on the drive way ok.
  12. Oil cooler depends on what you are towing, and if you want to follow exact manufacturer (in persuit of perfection) recomendations. A small garden trailer or motorbike trailer is very different on gearbox load compared to getting a caravan up and over the alps. I think I paid about £220 from Watling about 3 years ago and 4 hours is probably about right as the bumper does need to come off.
  13. As it is your wife, she deserves the best from you. DO NOT EVEN think of not taking the LEXUS.
  14. Watling engineering in St Albans do LS400 towbars. I fitted one to my mk-III, good quality and strong too.
  15. Item 26 on this list says that a 680 by 270 tank is 84 litres. http://www.tradekey.com/product_view/id/180010.htm
  16. On a Mk-iii car, The glass and its backing plate is "hooked and clipped" onto the motor mounting mechanism. Perhaps yours has become unclipped, or maybe one of the clips is damaged. The workshop manual shows how to remove the glass. Which I have tried and it works of course. send me a PM with your email and I can forward a workshop picture if you do not have it.
  17. My MK-III 95 car failed its MOT on rear upper inner wishbone bushes. The inner edges of rear tyres were schreaded to canvas/wire. Lexus wanted £300 per wishbone, 3 hours labour at £110 ph (each side) plus £90 for tracking. £1350 +vat and I'm sure they would have had me for a few other bits at the same time. I installed replacement bushes "ADUS 578, 90-01 Lexus LS400 Rear upper control arm bushing" as purchased from LDP Autos on ebay.com. They set me back 70USD for parts, plus a mate in USA to onward ship, another 40 USD-ish and about 8 hours 1st side and 2-3 hours the second. The Car rode a lot better afterwards, but it was not a job for the faint hearted. Had to make up a special tool for removal and fitting, a bit of maching for the inserts and it was time consuming. main bolts were 300 foot pounds I think. If you really want to try it, I took a few pics at the time. Would I do it again, yes, because it saved me tons of cash and I know how to do it now. If Aberdeen was a bit closer to Hampshire, I would offer to do it for you.
  18. I read a post on here about a company in New Milton (I think) near new forest that did replacement seal by the metre.
  19. My drivers seat failed. It would not go forwards, but I did not need to remove leather to fix it. It was only a part came off the end of a worm drive. Have you searched USA forum.
  20. Crude...... but you could take out the rubber bungs, spare and the carpet for a while to let it air and dry out as you drive around during the summer.
  21. My Installer has advised me to change my Spark Plugs for just plain NGK ones, as platinum ones do not work so well with LPG. QUESTION : What spark plugs are other LPG drivers using, because I dont know what NGK plugs to get? TIA. InD1W
