  1. I cleaned my throttle body earlier in the year. No sealants are required to fix it back in place. I watched quite a few videos on YouTube, everybody does it different. All have different advice. From all the videos pick what advice you think makes sense. My procedure was: Disconnect battery, spray cleaner into TB, let it sit for an hour or so the electrical system discharges. Take off TB fully from car. Get it on a bench and clean it with old microfibre clothes sprayed with the cleaner. You may find a carbon ridge around the barrel. Do not be too rough, some say it has a special coating that you don't want to remove, I'm not 100% sure about that but it is a delicate piece of kit. Make sure you get cleaner on the pivot points and any small passage ways are clear. I soaked it and wiped it several times, it was out of the car a few hours. When I put it back and connected the battery the whole car went into reset, everything clicks, whirs, buzzes and cycles for quite a few seconds until I could start it.
  2. I had a woman jump out of her skin in Morrison’s car park a while ago. She was stood talking to another woman, I honked my horn long before I got to her and she shouted something too rude to put here. I wound my window down chuckling to myself and asked her what she said, the reply was incoherent but sounded very crude. I left, still chuckling to myself, and somewhat hurt.
  3. Whatever car you drive, from the quietest Lexus to the noisiest diesel chugger people in car parks will always wander down the road. I love giving them the beep beep, I’ve had some interesting reactions.
  4. It does seem a logical conclusion to come to. Mine had a fully stamped service booklet from Lexus but the brake sliders were seized solid, and I wasn’t too impressed with the job they did on the recent airbag recall.
  5. This was done regularly at my last place of work, particularly by a certain part of the workforce, even though it was marked DIESEL above the filler cap. I was told it wasn’t as bad putting petrol in a diesel. The vehicles were always taken away on a low loader and returned a few hours later.
  6. Big rubber hammer, small crow bar, releasing fluid and time. And plenty of expletives.
  7. Any garage will do the servicing.
  8. Obviously easier on the IS250. Jack up one side, couple of screws I think to get the flap off giving access to oil filter.
  9. My sons undertray, which I believe we are talking about, went awol. It was there one week when we serviced the car but was gone when we replaced the front coil springs about a month later. It’s a big thing, about 3’ x 3’. You’d notice if it fell off while driving wouldn’t you? Haven’t a clue where it went, I suspect I fell off while his wife was driving. This is a lady who says “Oh yes, that dash light has been on for weeks”
  10. All the above advice is based on an ASSUMPTION that it WAS removed by the garage. TUT TUT.
  11. Asus made the Nexus 7, I have one, very fond of it. Missed the bit where the OP said he had an android phone. Never understood what this means.
  12. Walk into Currys and have a play with their tablets. They have android and Apple of all different sizes. See which you like. If your a first time user Apple is one to go for. Don’t be swayed by Apple haters, it’s a good simply product with a very intuitive easy to use interface. I have both, a Nexus and an iPad, love them both and use both.
  13. I believe the consensus of opinion is that discs don’t warp. I’ve never experienced warped discs on any of my cars. The issues are usually caused by dirty hubs not cleaned prior to new discs being fit, or the job not being done properly, or faults with the wheel or tyres.
  14. I don’t think the OP is looking for advice on this subject, it’s a rant, and there doesn’t seem to be room for “The other persons viewpoint” I’m out of here. 😞
  15. It’s not really. You can say that about buying or selling any property on eBay. How do you know the actual owner of goods. It’s up to you to ask the right questions and use common sense.
  16. Preferably one that’s not forged. What if the alleged owner is not the registered keeper. How would you know they are the owner and have given permission to sell the car?
  17. Registered keeper is not necessarily the owner. Who are you dealing with? It’s all about asking questions of the seller. Who is the owner of the vehicle? Can I speak to the owner? Are you at the address on the log book? Rather than a meet on a car park. Is the car undervalued?....Etc, etc, etc as a king once said. Plenty of people sell cars on behalf of someone else. If in doubt walk away.
  18. I also use my little finger to smear. Coincidence or what.
  19. That’s what I use. It’s my jukebox and a tracker. You have to make sure you use the phone every so often. If you don’t some companies will cancel the SIM card after about six months of inactivity.
