  1. I have an iPod / iPhone interface in my RX350 and you have to press CD and FM buttons on stereo simultaneously in order the access the interface in order to operate and hear sounds from iPod / iPhone.
  2. Well my RX300 has done 103,000 miles and the front shocks where we'll and truly mullered when I took them off, there was no pressure to the Pistons. It will all depend on where and how a car has been driven I guess, but it feels much better now I have new shocks.
  3. The bounce test for shock absorbers is very hard to do on modern cars and especially so with the RX being a big heavy car. I noticed on the lexus website front shock replacement cost was £400, but I wasn't sure if that was for just one side, which I think it probably is. Still in the end I bought new shocks, springs, strut mounts and bearings for both side for £300 and have just finished fitting them myself. Only been on a short drive since, but car feels transformed, especially as no more dipping when braking hard. Heavy components, but one of easiest cars I have worked on, quality of construction was obvious.
  4. Yes I have replaced shock absorbers at around the 100,000 mile point on numerous previous vehicles. Having only owned my RX300 for a short time, I was just trying to guage whether its behaviour is related to the state of its shocks. It can be quite hard with modern cars to test a shock until it is removed.
  5. I am wondering at what mileage, if at all, people have replaced their shock absorbers? My front near side shock feels slack and bouncy over bumps, I think the strut mount and bearing may be past their best also. Yesterday I had cause to brake very hard and the front of the car dipped alarmingly, leading me to think the shocks aren't doing their job properly. Many thanks
  6. Hi there, I'm no expert as I have only just taken delivery of an RX 300 myself. Like you I did quite a bit of research first and test drove both the mk1 and mk2. In the end I went for a mk 2 as I preferred the styling and as you said the equipment list is quite impressive. As for how they drive, to me the mk 1 did have a better ride quality but the cars I tried had 16 and 17 inch wheels, whereas my mk 2 has 18 inch wheels. The mk 1 has a 4 speed auto and the mk 2 a 5 speed, btw. I looked a a couple of SE-L's with air suspension but the ride on those seemed quite harsh at slow speeds. Plus the cost of replacement struts and compressor made me play safe. Overall, I'm very pleased with myRX 300 SE.
  7. Thanks for that, the owners manual for the basic trip seems to show various levels of information, where as Navigator shows average mpg which resets at each trip plus range. I'm not too concerned, just seemed odd the the upgrade to Navigator would result in less functionality.
  8. Hi there, my first post proper, after introduction. No problems with Lexus, enjoying a great car after searching for some time for the right car. One thing I am confused about is to do with 'Info' on Navigator. The Info button gives access to trip information, but only what seems to be average mpg for current trip. Reading the owners manual suggests for cars without Navigator the trip computer gives info on average mpg, instant mpg, overall mpg, etc. is there some way of accessing this extra info from the Navigator system? Cheers
  9. Hi there, just saying hello, I've not long taken delivery of my RX 300 and am very much enjoying Lexus ownership having come from many years with a troublesome Mercedes ML. John
