  1. The Lexus/Westfalia detachable will requires the rear bumper cutting, as will all the others, the rear tray extends too far forward. If the undertray is all black You wont notice it. Mine has a sliver over cover so it's a bit more noticeable.
  2. Mine cuts out below 26 mph or when the wipers go on fast speed, both give a double beep and display radar ready.
  3. The lighting switch on my 450 h has off, auto, side and main selections.
  4. Anyone know the length of the push rod for the front ride height sensor? I make it somewhere between 160 to 180 mm, can anyone confirm this?
  5. I had a 400h before the 450 I have now, fitted the tow bar to the 400 myself, a bit of a fiddle with the wiring but managed it. I had a Westfallia detachable bar fitted to my 450 by PF jones, they did it on my driveway. Both vehicles tow my 1700kg caravan without any issues. As has been said fuel consumption is not great while towing but this is offset by good economy (for a vehicle of this size) when not towing. I've had three discos a Merc ML270 and a Jeep Grand Cherokee before the Lexus and The Lexus are the best overall.
  6. I gave the car a good spray with fly killer as I saw one buzzing about the car and it's not done it since, so it must be that.
  7. My alarm has gone off three times today, is there a way of finding out what triggered it? I checked all the widows etc and all is OK.
  8. I've got the same setup, very easy to DIY fit, the rear camera is very small and is stuck to the rear window with an adhesive pad, so wont fall off. I ran the cable behind all the boot trims and then along the door sill covers and up to the front camera concealing it behind the door seals.
  9. My owners manual has all the fuses and locations along with a description of what they protect.
  10. I don't know if I was lucky or not but when I had my towbar fitted, the battery was disconnected for some time. On reconnection I didn't have to rest anything, all the settings were still there for the seats and mirrors etc and the windows operated as normal.
  11. I've found a couple of stainless self tapping screws does the trick.
  12. I think Lexus assume 10,000 miles a year so an 80,000 mile service is actually a sixth year service. My service book says Intermediate service every 10,000 miles or one year, whichever comes first, full service every 20,000 miles or two years whichever comes first.
  13. Mine was fitted by PF Jones with the dedicated Westfalia wiring kit for the RX and all power came off the pos of the battery via a bank of fuses to the bypass unit.
  14. I went for a dedicated electrics kit and 13 pin, it wasn't cheap Circ £800 fitted. The under bumper is cut to access the tow-bar socket and fold down electric socket. Does yours have air suspension as the kit for without air is cheaper. The cut is in the under tray and as mine is silver it is visible but it is tolerable, you can only see it if you are crouching down or more than 6 feet away from the rear of the car.
  15. PF Jones are in Manchester, They did mine on my drive in Morecambe. I got a Westfalia detachable.
  16. I've noticed that the bottom half of the chrome grill has a cover behind it. It's separate and plastic tabs have been melted over to fix it in place. I tow a large caravan so would it be prudent to remove this to allow more flow across the radiator. There was no mention of this in the Wesfalia fitting instructions, which seem comprehensive. Any wise words of wisdom would be appreciated. Peter.
  17. Have you tried PF Jones, they are in Manchester, they fitted mine on my drive, electrics and all. The 400H I had was a bit of a phaff as there was a connection above the roof lining to make. https://www.pfjones.co.uk/ RX Towbar electrics.pdf
  18. As you say the beep is a legal requirement, the beep tells you that the indicator light on the connected unit is working, it's part of the 7pin electrics kit. If the MOT tester is doing his job correctly he should test the towing electrics and if the unit doesn't beep it may be a fail, it was before they changed the categories.
  19. I've towed my 1700Kg twin axle caravan with both my earlier 400h and now my 450h with no problems at all.
  20. When I got my 450h it came with both sets of mats, the rubber were over the top of the carpet ones. I've never bothered taking the rubber ones out except to clean them.
  21. I fitted one from PF Jones to my 400H, no problems with the spare wheel.
  22. I have HUD on my car, can't say I've noticed a film where the HUD displays. The wipers will be handed so if they are heated in that area then there will be a different part no.
  23. DAB reception in my Lexus is rubbish when compared to my misses Yaris. I put it down to the aerial also, I'll keep an eye on this thread to see if a solution comes up.
