  1. Tesco are no longer free. I used Tesco for the first time a few weeks ago, and all was fine and FREE. I went back this week to do the shopping and they charged me 28p Kwh. Still cheap but I have got solar at home so not worth it for me. Its a shame because I was out at the bowls club every week, and was planning for the weekly shop and a free charge at the same time!

  2. UPDATE: Spoke to Lexus UK via chat today and this was the response to my question:

Has the car got its own sim card to enable it to have a data connection. If so is this a free data connection, and for how long?

    Message from Agent.

    Good question!
The NX 450h has an embedded SIM card within a DCM unit.

    Message from Agent.

The connectivity is offered free of charge for 4 years from the point you register the Multimedia (logging in within the car using your Lexus account details).

    Message from Agent.

this will ensure that your mapping is kept always up to date, and the Lexus Link connected services will operate without needing anything else!

    Message from Visitor.

Great! So when this runs out what is the on going cost please.

    Message from Agent.

Another good question.. to be very honest, we have not yet been informed what the re-subscription costs will be!

    Message from Agent.

I can assure you that our Connected Car teams here in the UK are also very excited to learn what the costs will be. I'm sorry that I can't share that information yet.

  3. Silly question time.

I thought I read somewhere that you get a data allowance with Lexus for your car for three years for the communications link. I mentioned this to the dealer and you would have thought I had grown another head. So...... how does the car communicate when you want to  do the trick things shown on the Lexus site, and if so has it got a sim card of its own and where is it fitted?

Another question.... Is the car set up to open windows and sunroof via the fob as standard or do you have to get this set up by the dealer?

    16 days and counting..........

I am not a fan of the look of the RAV4 to be honest. I had thought about a CHR but l am not sure about practically.

My wife bought a CHR orange edition in March, and we have just returned from a 1k mile driving holiday in and around Wales. It was fantastic and returned 57mpg average even with hooning around the wonderful roads. Horses for courses I guess but we luv ours.

  5. Well the NX is in the UK now, so my car is going up for sale this week. I have been looking at second hand prices and I think about £14.5k looks about the average, what do you all think, is that a fair price? WBAC have offered £12750 but that will drop when they start looking for every stone chip and hair on the upholstery. Motorway recon £13.8k but that is an average.......... So difficult to price these days!

Got the long awaited email today. Build in progress. NX450 ordered on 14 Feb. Don't know how long it will take until I actually get my hands on it, but at least the ball is rolling now.

Update, I have had contact with my dealer, and they are saying that the expected collection date for me will be 25 August, that I would push back to 1st Sept for 72 reg purposes. However this date is flexible and could move forward.

  7. My RX450h will be up for sale soon as my new NX should be with me in the next couple of months. So if you are interested its a 2012 in pearlescent white, premier with pan roof. Full Lexus service history, so relax warranty until Oct 2022, MOT March 2023. I haven't really looked at prices yet, so I will have to do some homework on that one. As I don't know exactly when the NX will be ready, this is just to see if anyone on here would be interested before I advertise it on Auto trader or trade it in later on.

  8. Though it was a very difficult decision, I am selling my trusty 2012 RX pan roof because I have ordered a NX450h with premium plus pack and sunroof.

I had always planned on replacing my RX three years ago, but life and covid got in the way. I then test drove a nearly new RX450 last year and was a bit underwhelmed to be honest. The terrible track pad infotainment system being the main problem. At this point the new NX was announced so I waited until last week to test drive it. Well, what can I say? Loved it to bits, found it really comfortable, quiet, and really quick, so the order is in place now, expected delivery in July.

So I will be asking all of my questions and giving any advice hear from now on.

Ps don't tell Lexy about Nexy she has got to keep going until July

Well I’m moving from the RX to an NX450h & tbh I’m not 100% sure about the move, mainly because the NX feels so much smaller inside.

We don’t need the space anymore & the wife has always found the RX a little too large so head says it’s the right thing to do but the heart is still with the RX😉

I am making the same move. Having had a test drive in the NX450h I really liked it, I found the acceleration so much better than the RX and the overtaking pace far better.

I would have bought a newer RX but just could not live with that terrible track pad set up.(Two test drives, one for an hour the other for over four hours) I found my 10 year old system way better than that, and the new NX system is fantastic.

Having had seven years in the RX it is a tough decision but as the new RX is possibly two years away, the time has come, and as the V6 engine is going I may not return.

I didn't find the NX that much smaller, and with all the toys to play with who cares?

  10. I had my car serviced at Lexus Swindon, and gave them my Gold card to get the discount advertised on the membership section, but was advised that because of Lexus Relax they can no longer afford to give the discount on servicing. They will give it on repairs outside of servicing but not on the service itself.

I feel this is a bit of a con, as any warranty claim on Lexus Relax would be covered by Lexus not the dealer.

I've got a Trade card at Halfords so I don't see the point of having the Gold Card really

  11. New Battery arrived from Lexus parts direct, all wrapped up very securely, it even had rope carrying handles built into the box.

I connected another Battery to the jump point under the bonnet and then very carefully replaced the Battery in the boot. So no resets required.

I don't know if it is the placebos effect, but its doing better mpg now. Also when stationary in traffic, it does not start the engine as much as it used to.

Anyway that's all done for another seven years now, fingers crossed.

  12. After seven years and about 60k the 12v Battery has started giving problems. This had been replaced at three years old when I bought the car so I guess seven years for this one is OK.  I've trawled through all of the very in depth posts about original and after market batteries, and rightly or wrongly decided to go for an original from Lexus parts direct in Swindon £199 delivered with a little bit of gold discount.

It should turn up this week, and at that point I will be asking all sorts of questions regarding resets of seats windows etc 😜

I will let you know how I get on.

  13. Today I had a six hour test drive in an almost new RX450h. I loved all of the changes and extra toys that have been added since I got my 2012 version. The only thing that I didn't get on with was the infotainment system controlled by that awful touch pad. I found that controlling anything on it via the touch pad was near impossible while driving and even when my wife was driving I tried again from the passenger seat. This was better, obviously, but still not good. I tried adjusting the sensitivity, to no avail. I realise that it is a touch screen, but feel that defeats the object of having a touch pad in the first place.

The main thing that made life difficult was the lack of mouse style controller as fitted to my 2012 RX.

I am in the lucky position to be able to consider buying a  next to new RX, but this has made me think that a 2019 one would be better because of this.

This has had a lot of bad reviews in the motoring press, but I wanted to make up my own mind, so to be objective, can any of you  tell me what I may have been doing wrong?
