  1. Just read somewhere else that the battery needs to be up at around 14v so I will check the battery voltage first.
  2. The thing is none of the seats seem to be working which makes me think it might be a relay. Battery doesn't seem the culprit. Starts very very easily.
  3. Hi guys. Heated seats aren't working. Switches work and the fuse is ok but the seats don't get hot. Is there a relay somewhere. If so where abouts. Havent managed to id it. Am thinking this is likely the problem as none of them are warming. It's a 95 btw
  4. Thanks mate. Had a look at the site. Nice find. I have an Autel diagnostic tool which does most things with an obd2 port. Am hoping it will do the Lexus even if it is only the obd stuff.
  5. Hi all. I have the white round diagnostic port on my 95 LS400 and am guessing it is OBD1 and am also wondering if a round to obd2 adapter can be had anywhere?
  6. Hi guys, 1995 LS400 new battery in the Fob as the old one was goosed. Tried it and the light comes on but the car isn't responding. I have tried to re-sync but no joy. Am I doing something wrong? Also one of the two fobs is missing. It looks like I can buy a replacement but am wondering what I need to do to get it working. Any ideas? Thanks in advance
  7. I've opted for a stereo switch off the bay. It is for a home install rather than a car but should work nicely. You patch a couple of rca cables between the amp and the cd changer and you manually switch between the cd and two aux connections. Looked at the 4 relay mod on lexus club us and am using the stereo switch box instead of the relays. Same principle just easier. I also have a a2dp Bluetooth box which plugs into the aux in. This can be hidden away. I haven't installed yet so will do up an install guide.
  8. Agreed value is an agreed value of the vehicle based on its condition etc rather than the book value. I have a VW 4x4 Van which is a one of a kind, highly modified and could not be replaced. If I was to sell the van I would get around £20k but if it was written off without agreed value I would be lucky to get £1000 back due to the book value but with the agreed value if it gets pinched or destroyed I get back the agreed value. You send in you pictures and they say yes we agree it is worth x amount.
  9. Hi. I have just invested in a rather nice but expensive LS400 from 1995 and have managed to get Admiral to add it to the multiyear however as these are really not worth much in the eyes of an insurance company I stand to loose quite a bit of the folding stuff if I have an accident. I know you can get gap insurance which takes up the gap between the invoice price and the insurance book price however these policies only seem to cover cars up to 7 years old or 10 at a push. Has anyone found a company that will cover older cars? I may have to swap to a classic car policy with agreed value but don't really want to as the multicar is pretty good value.
  10. You are right and if I can get the pixels fixed then I will keep the factory and get a Parrot or something similar to allow a plug and play Bluetooth A2DP fit. Will look on the Autoleads site to see if they have a harness. Anywhere in the UK that I can get the Pixels repaired or the parts so I can do it myself? Been looking but it is hard to find the wood through the trees sometimes.
  11. I bought this car. I deliberated for a good while because I knew the price was high but finally decided to buy it as I figured it is older (20 years young) and yes I could get a high miler for sweet money but this car had full Lexus history and I mean full documented history. It has been over serviced considering the mileage it has done. A high miler is more likely to come with hidden surprises and after a bad experience with a BMW 740 and a Jeep my wife would go nuts if I bought a shed (yes I still might have bought a shed but I doubt it). My good lady wanted me to get a boring nearly new car and I even went and looked at a few car yards but I didn't want to spend £20 grand on something that would be worth £15k next week and less again the week after. Plus whatever I bought wouldn't be as refined (or have a lovely V8 - I do love a V8). So the high price was justifiable in my mind. Isn't exactly a glut of low mileage LS400s out there in near perfect nick so you have to dig deep when one becomes available. I took it for a short drive over very bumpy Edinburgh cobbled streets and their wasn't a rattle or bump to be had. Nothing to indicate abuse or hiding anything. It isn't without its faults however. The stereo has the dodgy pixels and the plastic cap on the fuel filler release has snapped off(anyone got one laying about pm me please?). Not so concerned about the radio as I will replace it with a modern double DIN. On the radio front can anyone tell me where a adapter cable can be had which will allow the use of the factory amp? Oh the other thing that helped was that I have history with the seller. I bought a VW Bora from him a few years ago and that motor was a cracker. The chap is a gentleman and seems pretty straight down the line. Apparently Edinburgh Lexus offered him strong money for it. More than my original offer and he had another buyer from down south who apparently missed out on it when it was for sale last year. He's going to be gutted he missed it again. Oh and the chap I bought it from asked me to let him know when I was selling it on again because if its still in excellent shape he'll have it back (but not for about a year).
  12. Hello everyone. New to Lexus. Just bought a time warp like new 26k miles with full service history (inc 3 belt changes), never used in winter and barely seen the rain. Paid a bit over the odds but the condition is exceptional. The only thing I can fault it on is a broken switch top on the fuel release lever and the dodgy pixels on the radio. I was of two minds because it was expensive but I figure if I bought a new or nearly new car I would loose more in depreciation in the first year than this cost me to buy. The wife was keen that I got a new "reliable" car but I just can't face spending the money on a car that is no where as comfortable as big old V8 luxury cruiser. Had a 97 BMW 740 before that ended up a money pit so you can understand her reluctance. Lets hope this ones trouble free. Rob
