  1. I’m the OP and so far the auto glass screen is fine, been a few years now. Can’t remember how the lights were fixed, I think they just started working. What does bugs me are councils not laying proper roads, around our way no final hot tarmac is applied, they simply leave the gravel and allow the stones to be pressed in by the traffic, they have a 20 mph speed limit for ages. Van’s or cars who don’t care, speed past as stones fly everywhere, lots of damaged cars, reported to council they don’t care as too expensive to finish roads properly, they don’t have the cash, they say can’t do anything about speeders. Roads also horrible to drive on!
  2. Why would the hybrids be cheaper?? They are the same price new and the hybrid makes a lot of sense for a lot of buyers, the 5.0 is nice and makes the right noise but for someone like me who actually wants to use it as a daily I’ll never use the full power of the 5.0, I’d end up getting rid due to high running costs once the new car buzz is gone. For 99% of the time the hybrid is perfect…for me anyway! I’d love them to be cheaper.
  3. I’ve had HUD in my last twocars, tried it for 5 mins, rather underwhelming and turned it off! Certainly wouldn’t consider it essential and would take the upgraded audio any day. Even the base spec non sport plus is quite nice, wheels on the plus are better but personally not bothered about the rear spoiler and alcantara, if anything the full leather and glass roof seems more appealing on the base, just an opinion before someone comes with internet shotgun fully loaded!!
  4. I stopped taking this video seriously when he said "loads of room in the back, a true 2+2 and passengers won't have any complaints" .... total BS if I've every heard it, all cars in this segment have back seats for show, Lexus is no different!! BMW (850i loses every competition with LC), you sure about this? what are you measuring that it loses every competition? I assume you are comparing the M850i? The LC500 is a great car and most on here have some interest in it, if you think a handful of people on an internet forum have the ability to talk down prices then time to get professional help!
  5. I was referring to the hybrid drivetrain when talking about easier to live with, it’s very smooth and great in city traffic where if used as a daily the car will spend most of its time in, also the urban figures are more than slightly different 38.7 vs 16.2 mpg, is the V8 figure wrong for urban city driving? seems a massive difference, however figures are from Autotrader so could we’ll be out.
  6. All the talk here is about the 5.0lt LC500, any views on the LC500h? Running costs are important particularly as it maybe your only car. The LC500h still seems reasonable performance with reduced running costs, still get the looks, quality materials and possibly easier to live with on a daily basis?
  7. I agree, it’s not all about the speed but it does matter in this type of car, id expect better than 4.7 secs though, I’ve just sold my Volvo S60 T8 polestar and that was 4.4, obviously LC is totally different class. it’s the cost really, at 5 years old cars begin to feel their age, difficult to part with £50k plus for something built in 2017, I’m edging to a newer BMW for the same cost, feels fresher and the 850 gives a kick in back at almost any speed. Used 2019 LC’s are priced about the same as M8’s now, I don’t think the LC is a match for the M8 in any way apart from warranty!!
  8. Isn’t the M850i about 1 sec quicker to 62? 3.7 vs 4.7. I’ve got the figures from autotrader but if accurate that’s a significant difference, the video’s I’ve seen, the BMW gets the power down much better. With it being significantly cheaper, full merino leather, way better infotainment system. I’ve looked at both and think the BMW gives better value, I can’t get around the alcantara seats on most LC’s and those stupid stalks for the drive modes, they just look odd sticking out of dash like horns. I like the LC but it would need to come down a fair bit for me to be interested, yes lovely car but not a second hand buy for me, the BMW in the right colour and wheels does look much better in the flesh.
  9. Na, just live with them really, car 6 years old now so expect things like this to happen, they work just not very hot, might get dealer to look when car in for service next
  10. Thanks, mine are set to stay on the same as you left them, if they steadily dropped temperature then they would be hot at some point, these barely register. I read somewhere about holding both buttons down but I think it might refer to the older IS.
  11. Thanks for the reply, seats are clean and passenger one is hardly used but still same issue with it. I’ll let the dealer know when it’s next in for service.
  12. No, it’s nothing to do with the outside temperature, I’ve no idea what you mean, I’m talking about the heated seats which have nothing to do with hot water tanks!! I've had the car nearly 6 years from new, hence 6 winters, it’s only in the last few weeks that they are not heating up as much, previous to that they’ve been fine, not as good as my Volvo but acceptable, now they are useless. Just want to know if there is any kind of reset, button press sequence etc or they just degrade over time. I’ve tried putting the temperature up but no better.
  13. Nope, nothing to do with outdoor temperatures, not only me but all the family notice it.
  14. Thanks for the reply, I've tried adjusting the temperature and it made no difference, seems odd that they have both degraded at the same time because drivers seat used more that passengers, hence why I thought it might be a setting. They've never been that hot anyway, compared to my Volvo but now hardly noticeable when you need them most!
  15. We've got a 2015 IS300h Exec and the heated seats are hot as hot as they used to be, even when both at level 3 still not very warm, certainty much less than they used be, is there any setting or adjustments that can be made? would this type of thing be covered by the new warranty?
  16. Thanks for the reply, I have feeling acceptance is going to be an issue moving forward, Does halfords even accept the card now??
  17. I was thinking of taking the new 2 year offer for £39 pounds to make use of a discount on servicing, however having phoned two local dealers (Cambridge and Edgware Road which is in the opposite direct) both said they no longer accept since the service now includes the relax warranty, are others still accepting? Before anyone accuses me of not doing my research, those are my two dealers I tried and it’s my experience. The dealers that would do a “deal” for older cars are simply saying, not possible now due to relax warranty (not related to LOC) anyone else found this or may do in future. Do people use the card for anything else, happy to purchase one if worthwhile.
  18. Do you mind not telling me what to do.... who the hell are you??? It's a discussion forum and I was merely pointing out that having multiple insurance cover on a single item is not a good idea, can you not see that if a large claim was presented that it could create an issue?
  19. I might be getting confused but certain insurance products should only have one insurer, life insurance, car insurance, i've not got time to find the source but you can see issues regarding liability if more than one company involved, it may be a first world problem but just interested to find out how Lexus get around it, I'm sure they addressed it, I did say i wasn't sure, if the underwriters are two different companies and the claim was for £10k, maybe a case of wanting the other to settle the claim.
  20. The unmitigated stress of first world problems 😂 Yes, clearly you've given the breakdown cover no thought???
  21. As there are no refunds on the extended warranty for the second year and it runs to its end, I’ll need a service in the next few weeks and will also get cover free with the service, hence covered twice. As I’m assuming both these warranties are insurance based products, I read somewhere that you shouldn’t have two insurance for the same item. I think the dealers will probably say that the relax cover doesn’t start until the extended warranty ends but that would need to be in the T&C’s somewhere. i would rather take the refund if it was on offer, £350 in my case and go with relax even though cover was less, I’ve just purchased a new car so no need for the two AA me memberships that made it cost effective for me.
  22. My local has gone very quite when I asked the best way forward. I’ve got a 60k service £625, but no response if any discounts available and what happens to my 14 months remaining 2/1 warranty, my current warranty has the aa cover for two and 2 free mot’s, take that out of it then current warranty is just over a couple of hundred per year and I could have kept the car another 4 years easily.
  23. Haha, yes I have a Lexus with full extended warranty so will certainly have one if I keep it! I can see what you mean about it being a good car but not really loving it, it went for the T8 to give it more of a chance and I’m hoping the performance and all the gadgets will keep me interested, it certainly looks good with the 19” upgraded wheels. Even though it’s being delivered next week o already have a feeling it will be a stop gap car. I got a great deal and one of the few car I’ve seen with that amount of desirable extras, it should make it easier to sell and not damage my wallet too much. I would have probably gone BMW M340i but I just couldn’t justify the £10k uplift for a basic spec car. I did think about getting the T5 version but price difference was not that much, the plug in will hopefully work for me as commute is 20 miles a day, I’m full aware once the battery range is exhausted, it a 400bhp car with the running costs to match! It had to be worth a shot as so disappointed with what Lexus has to offer.
  24. The AA membership is for two people, my wife uses one I the other, so £100 each is not that far off, remember the Lexus one is top one with Home start, loan car, European cover, onwards travel, hotel etc. That's not far off £100 each per year, £209 according to link below. Also, £50 or £40 for an MOT, hardly a massive difference, £50 is what I think Lexus charge, I'm not going to get a Lexus service and go somewhere else for MOT to save a tenner!!! Plus Lexus warranty has MOT cover, anything goes wrong and they fix it if warranty covers it, I'd rather not loose that for the sake of £10 quid.
