  1. The mystery deepens... The picture you posted certainly looks like the standard Lexus widescreen Nav system as I remember it, but at the same time, I don't recall ever seeing the arrow that Colin mentioned on mine. Frankly, I am at a loss as to what to suggest. Not very helpful I know!
  2. This is indeed strange since, as far as I am aware, this function wasn't available regardless of cost. Perhaps you could post a picture of how it looks now in case it doesn't look like a standard Nav setup?
  3. Hi Michael, As Colin says, the facelift was a different system and not compatible. On that note though, I wonder if you had some sort of aftermarket modification applied to yours? Not heard of one that can change the standard system, so it would potentially look different to the standard Lexus layout/graphics.
  4. For reference, mine looked like this: Whereas the facelift looks like this:
  5. Welcome Michael. When I had my 2013 GS450h full screen on the 12.3" screen was indeed impossible, so not sure what is going on here. Only the facelift cars (post 2016) had the option for full screen mode as far as I am aware. I don't suppose you have any photos of what it was/is like?
  6. You're right, I don't think it is a blockage. For testing, I would suggest the resistance test I posted previously: Failing that, the wiring is certainly a possibility but difficult to pinpoint. An auto electrician would really be required at that point.
  7. To be honest, everything you have said points to it still being the 5th injector, so if it was me I would test one of them off the car to confirm it is working before fitting it. I certainly wouldn't trust the cheap Chinese one until I knew it worked. Other than that, if he can disable it without the ECU throwing up an error, then that is an option. You would need to be careful with the DPF getting clogged but regular longer journeys or a trash up the motorway at higher RPM would help with this.
  8. Hi Ian, When you say the mechanic disabled the 5th injector, how so? I would assume the dash lit up like a Christmas tree when he did! It is very odd that a replacement injector didn't fix the issue. Did he verify that the injector was working outside of the car?
  9. Where are the pictures so we can all appreciate the beauty? 🙂
  10. Sounds scary! Glad you are ok 🙂 What are you thinking as a replacement?
  11. To be fair, I don't consider a post with The Register as its source to be a 'random Internet post' since it is a trustworthy site that has been around for a very long time. And yes, I have been getting the daily emails from them for at least the last 16 years! Having said that, everybody appears to have an agenda these days, so who knows what is actually happening out there?
  12. Hopefully it will ok this time as certain disruptive elements of this forum have now been removed 😉 It is cause for some cautious optimism as you say, however, since BMW are hedging their bets and still making quite a few pure EV's, I am not sure how many direct sales this will contribute to from the standard German car buyer. After all, the most important part of the car is obviously the badge! 🙂 Funnily enough, the article alludes to BMW playing catch up to Tesla, which is not something I ever thought I would see. What we really need is some sort of hydrogen consortium of companies that can pool their resources together and create the product and the infrastructure at the same time. A bit like what they do when they want to introduce a new standard technology for computers e.g. USB, PCI-E, etc... Get 4 or 5 major car manufacturers together with some oil/energy companies, mix in the most basic government oversight, and hash out a proper plan. Can't see it happening anytime soon though..
  13. The ride is adjustable though, so you can see it at a normal height in one of the photos: By all accounts, the air suspension it has fitted is quite soft and is configurable, so it isn't necessarily a bad thing to have it fitted. It is just deemed unnecessary by most as there is nothing wrong with the standard setup.
  14. Do they also try and add people to their ignore list for no good reason? 🙂 I do agree though in that I think this thread no longer serves any useful purpose, just like the last one that got locked!
  15. Not true: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-65907342
  16. So it is ok to talk about environmental damage that is occurring now but not what might be coming in the near future? 🙄 The hypocrisy of the first sentence is almost beyond comical. Interestingly, there is also an obvious attempt to deflect the conversation back to a topic that John is more comfortable discussing.. Lastly, I feel it is unfair to lay the blame for all the environmental impact of fossil fuels on EV's as it completely negates the fact that most of the power is used by households and businesses. Do EV's contribute to the problem? Of course they do, but then so do all powered modes of transport.
  17. Probably a poor choice of words on my part. You are right to point out Tesla, but I would consider that the exception rather than the rule. Perhaps I should have said current car companies as Tesla started from scratch in their new direction, so they didn't have as much to lose. I'm sure Toyota, as the largest car manufacturer in the world, would have a lot of pressure to maintain its sales position. Whether that is EV or something else, at present they need to increase their EV offering in order to stay competitive. The good thing about a company the size of Toyota is that they can still pursue other avenues like hydrogen whilst producing cars like EV's for the moment. It is just that they aren't doing that, hence investors getting a little nervous. Also, as far as the problems of both technologies, they are actually quite similar i.e. it is the infrastructure rather than the cars themselves. The main difference is that EV's are here, right now whereas hydrogen is still a way off, if it happens at all. I would also say that the opposite is also true of the acknowledging of issues in that the hurdles of producing and distributing hydrogen are often overlook as trivial and easily resolved.
  18. And by all accounts extremely loud on take off! I would love to hear it in person one day.
  19. Despite what is reasonably being said Steve, despite the sense your post makes, you will find that some hydrogen evangelists on here will just go round and around in circles claiming the same things as if what you say doesn't exist or is idiotic. In terms of Toyota, it seems their new CEO is facing somewhat of a battle and the investors might push the company into the pure EV direction. Whilst I do applaud doing things differently - I actually ordered an Mazda RX-8 with the ****el engine back in the day - I don't think any car company can manage without following major industry trends, which sadly Toyota haven't been doing until now.
  20. I have this issue on my car. If I use Android Auto at the same time as using the charging pad, my phone will overheat. Not sure about the ES, but on my Kia someone told me that the air for the rear heating vents run below the pad and if I turned it to cold, the pad wouldn't heat up so much. Haven't had a chance to try it yet but it is certainly plausible.
  21. But that's just it Vlad, it isn't the content per se, it is the manner by which they are provided. Up until now I have chosen to keep my mouth shut despite not agreeing with some of what John has posted. However, being called an idiot and responsible for the destruction of the planet because I own an electric car is what I objected to. Also, I didn't resort to calling John names and yet, rather than debate the points I raised, he decided to just ignore me immediately. Whilst that is indeed his prerogative, I do find it somewhat childish and closed minded. Also, isn't the whole point of a forum to talk about different points of view? The point I am trying to make is that the content itself isn't a problem, but it is the manner by which some members conduct themselves that I take objection to. When did it become alright to just call anyone how doesn't agree with you idiots, morons, lacking intelligence?
  22. I think we are still generally on the 'good' side when it comes to forums 🙂 Also, personally, I find the HUD in my current car invaluable and would consider it a requirement if I was looking for an LC (should I ever be in such a fortunate position!).
  23. When I had my GS450h Premier it was £375 fixed price for the fronts. It also used to be listed on the Lexus website, but I can't find it anymore. Having said that, there was some discrepancy back then as well with different dealers quoting various prices.
  24. Nothing quite like someone burying their head in the sand rather than actually speaking to people 🙂 Or is is simply a case of just insulting others and running away, as opposed to considering the fact that different opinions might have some slightly merit and are worth discussing like adults?
  25. So good of you to look after the planet for the rest of us 🙄 Would never have known from the number of times you have mentioned it... Tell me, what is the air like up there on your high horse? Oh, and in case it wasn't blaringly obvious, being non 'eco-friendly' and intelligent aren't mutually exclusive! Speaking of which, could you perhaps re-phrase your second sentence so that us normal folk can understand it? I am actually quite pleased with the fact that I have never had to put anyone on my ignore list, although, the idea is becoming more appealing by the minute..
