  1. It is said that the first production cars were so badly built that even the BL management turned them down as company cars! I had one 15years ago. It was a 1983 3.6 manual on a 1986 C reg. The reason between build and registration date is because it was a SVE (special vehicle engineering) car and when it registered by Jaguar for the road in 1986 it was fitted with many of the upgrades that were on the 1987 models. I also had a letter from the original supplying dealer to the first 'owner' (which I regret not taking a copy of) stating that it was the 'company car' for Martin Brundle, who at the time they said was a Jaguar sportscar driver. It had dodgy electrics and the footwells were always full of water after it rained (even after replacing the door rubbers), a common fault. But this car was the most comfortable car I have ever driven or been driven in. I only sold it as it seemed every time I looked at it it had dissolved more!
  2. Apologies. I have re-read what I have written and see that I have made two errors. At launch there were three trims levels not four as I stated, namely the Base, SE and SEL. The Sport trim level was introduced with the '08 facelift. Also at launch the Base trim model didn't have a boot lip spoiler. The link below is from the Lexus media site which is the press release for the launch of the GS 450h in 2006 which some may find interesting. https://media.lexus.co.uk/2006/05/the-new-lexus-gs-450h/ It looks like you have SE trim Steven. As I said '06 to '08 SE had cooled seats but this was dropped form the '08 facelift. On '06 to '08 SE the sunroof was an optional extra. A sunroof was standard on the '06 to '08 SEL as was adaptive cruise control, becoming a (I believe circa £4000.00) joint optional extra on the '08 facelift SEL. Adaptive cruise was not available on any other trim level other than SEL throughout the S3 models production. The part wood steering wheel and gear knob was a no cost option on the '06 to '08 SEL but became standard on the '08 facelift, again only available on this trim level. I had an '06 SEL that didn't have this option. As I stated the brochure is for the '08 facelift cars so they will differ to the original '06 to '08 cars. At launch the SE trim was very well equipped but over the course of the two facelifts in '08 an '10 some equipment that had been standard in '06 either became an optional extra or was deleted. For example, the '10 facelift SE had 17" not 18" wheels (option), no ML (option) and no parking sensors (option). All of these were standard on the '06 SE cars. No S3 GS 450h had any exterior badging that designated their trim level so the Vicar didn't de-badge it!😁
  3. OP is correct John. In Lexus Essential Care section the NX is not offered when you are asked to choose your model. Might not be the case if you phone a dealer but someone looking online would understandably think that it doesn't apply to the NX.
  4. Sorry that is not the case. Only the F Sport model has this function. The fist picture is from a 'Luxury' drivers seat and the second from a 'F Sport'. As @Linas.Pstated above the button is on the top right.
  5. The problem that @Riccccccardo has is that, like me, he has a Mk4 F Sport model. Your 2007 Mk3 Steven runs 245/40 18 tyres. The MK4 F Sport tyre size is 235/40 19 front and 265/35 19 rear. I have not found a tyre manufacturer that makes an all season tyre in 265/35 19 size. I have found all the tyre manufacturers offer the 235/40 19 size but very few of them offer the 265/35 19 size. The few that do seem to be at the top end. So an owner is left with the decision whether to fit different brands front and rear or find a manufacturer that makes them in both sizes. I currently have Pirelli Sottozero winter fitted and have a new set of Michelin PS4S waiting to be fitted next month, bought last November from 'blackcircles' for less than £650.00 (a 25% off deal if I recall).
  6. The following is text taken from the press release outlining the trim grades for the 250 model of the fourth gen GS. There is no Premier option. UK Grade structure Entry point to the new GS range is the GS 250 SE, powered by a 207bhp (154kW) 2.5-litre V6 Dual VVT-i petrol engine. The specification includes 17-inch alloy wheels, automatic bi-xenon headlamps and windscreen wipers, LED daytime running lights and a rear-view camera with parking guide monitor. Cabin comfort is assured with smooth leather upholstery, dual-zone climate control and electrically adjustable front seats (10-way, with memory setting for the driver’s seat) with heating and ventilation functions. The steering wheel is electrically adjustable, too, and incorporates paddle shifts. On-board entertainment is provided by a 12-speaker audio system with CD player, DAB tuner, Bluetooth and USB/Aux ports for connecting personal music players. The Luxury trim builds on the SE specification with the introduction of 18-inch alloys, front and rear parking sensors, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror and an HDD satellite navigation system with Remote Touch Interface controller. Luxury grade also provides a new blind spot detection system integrated into the folding/auto-dimming door mirrors. F Sport versions of GS make a stronger style statement thanks to 19-inch rims, a boot-lip spoiler and sports-styled bumpers and front grille with a distinctive F Sport mesh design. In addition to the Luxury specification, the F Sport has bi-xenon headlights with an automatic high beam function, as well Lexus’s Adaptive Front-lighting System, which adjusts the beam direction as the car approaches bends and turns at junctions.
  7. You have intrigued me again. I had a S3 GS 405h and it did not do this. But then mine was a 2006 model so I wonder if it was something introduced on the facelift models.
  8. That is how it worked on the S3 GS but looking at the owners manual it is slightly different for the S4. @Riccccccardo On page 808 it states the obvious in that the light comes on because of low tyre inflation. It states to remedy this adjust the tyre pressures to the specified level and then the light will turn off after a few minutes. It does not say that you have to press the reset button! However, it further states that if the light doesn't go out after the tyre has been inflated to the correct pressure then the system needs to be checked. It also states that if the tyre pressure warning light comes on after blinking for 1 minute there is a malfunction in the system.
  9. @Riccccccardo Pages 731 & 732 of your cars owners manual tell you how to do it. I am intrigued by this. I have never seen the word INITIALISING appear on my dash. All my manual says is to press and hold the reset switch until the tyre pressure warning light blinks slowly 3 times, and that is exactly what happens when I do it on my car. There is no mention that this word will appear on the dash.
  10. The other button is to activate or deactivate the AFS (Adaptive Front-lighting System).
  11. I'm confused. OP was asking weather the doors on his car should auto lock once a certain speed has been reached. My understanding is that UK registered series 4 GS models do not have this option available. I had a S3 450H SE-L and it did not have this feature either. But you are saying that your facelifted S3 does automatically lock the doors after you reach a certain speed. So my apologies if I am wrong.
  12. I believe this is not a possible option on Uk spec GS models. I wasn't aware any Gen 3 model had it. Mine certainly didn't.
  13. I believe the GS 250 uses the 4GR-FSE V6 engine, as was also fitted to the IS 250. This engine has a timing chain not a belt so doesn't need replacement.
  14. @Mossypossy is correct that it won't be an F Sport but it could be a Sport as there were four trim levels. Base, SE, SE-L and Sport. The picture below is from the 2008 brochure. @Largey888 if you have the registration number I'd say give the Lexus dealership that did the last service a call. My understanding is that the dealerships will divulge details of the cars service history and any other work that will have been done.
  15. The brake disc sizes for the GS 450h Luxury are 334x30mm front and 310x18mm rear. For the F Sport and Premier models the sizes are 356x30mm front and 310x22mm rear. From this link it looks like Brembo only sell the rear disc for the Luxury model.
  16. I used this company when I had my series 3 450h. https://www.onlineautomotive.co.uk/
  17. There were four trim levels of the 450h when launched. Base, SE, Sport and SEL. All 450h models from '06 to '08 had a boot lip spoiler. Dropped from Base and SE after '08 facelift. '06 to '08 450h SEL fitted with radar cruise and sunroof as standard. After '08 became an option. Sunroof was an option on SE but not Sport. SE, SEL and Sport have ML sound system as standard. Cooled seats option dropped from SE after '08 facelift. Optional part wood steering wheel and gear knob available on '06 to '08 SEL now standard after '08 facelift. You can tell an '08 facelift model from the visible changes, namely the side indicators were moved to the wing mirrors from the front wings, a slightly different grille and the lower rear bumper panels are body coloured. Prior to this they were black. There was a further facelift for the 2010 model year with the differences mainly being, externally, redesigned 18" alloys on SEL and 17" alloys fitted to SE, although the 18" was an option. Front and rear parking sensors removed from SE but but were fitted if the optional 18" wheels were fitted. Also a new front grille. Inside the infotainment system was updated with DAB introduced and the tape player removed but the ML sound system was no longer standard on SE. Wood trim steering wheel and gear knob no longer available on SEL. I believe with this final facelift Base and Sport trim levels were also discontinued. The following may be of help. They are pages from the 2008 brochure.
  18. Have you checked that you haven't accidentally pressed the button in the glove box that disables the boot opening system resulting in exactly what you describe. It's on page 30 off the owners manual.
  19. I understand Bristol were very choosy about who bought their cars. I remember reading a story in the '90's about one of the oasis Gallagher brothers wanting to buy one and Bristol cars point blank refused to sell him one!
  20. Can someone tell me how to remove the chrome exhaust tips please? I have looked down them with a torch and it looks to me like some sort of bracket that clamps in four places but I am unable to find anyway to release it. TIA.
  21. These are the ones that fit my GS https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/10x-Lexus-Engine-Cover-Clips-Plastic-Trim-Fasteners-for-Motor-Shields-Panels/391217719352?fits=Car+Make%3ALexus&hash=item5b1664a838:g:q10AAOSwstxVZ4K~
  22. I do know that the 2010 final facelift of the S3 GS saw the 450h in SE spec fitted with 17" wheels as standard with 18" optional so I would think that you should be able to put 17" on your car. The tyre size for the 17" is 225/50.
  23. I can only think that it became an option due to cost cutting as it was originally standard fit on the Mk3 450h SE-L before became an option (for approx. £3500.00 I believe) only available on this trim level after the 2008 facelift. When the Mk4 was introduced in 2012 it was offered as an option only on the Premier spec. However, I believe it became standard fitment again when the Mk4 was facelifted circa 2015 on both the Premier and F-Sport spec but the luxury spec was dropped at this point.
  24. These are my results. I hope you can zoom in on this.
