  1. Sorry to hear about your problem you have to be wary when you buy private. prob best thing you could do to prove if he is a trader is phone up the previous owner and ask them when they sold the car did they fill in the motor trader part on the v5 as the way the new rules for v5 and car tax are its probably likely that the previous owner filled in some part of the v5 and sent to the dvla as its not really an option now not to fill in the v5.It sounds like he is in the trade as that would be the only reason why his name is not on the v5 as motor traders don't registar it in there name if the motor trader part of the v5 is sent off. If this is the case then you would have some come back but you would need to send a letter to him first outling the problem and giving him a deadline of say 7 days to reply and address problem if not then contact trading standards.I would notify ebay just now.I pressume you got a recipt for the car!!!!. If he is just a private seller it would be pretty hard to get your money back as they will say the onus is on you to check out properly if you thought there was a discrepency with the mileage. i was a car salesman for years so thats how i know this !!! thats probably easiest method is to phone previous owner and ask them how they sold the car and why but you really should have done this at the start and got it hpi checked. Hopes this helps you out a bit .
  2. I hope the mileage comes back in your favour mate You would have some legal comeback if the person that had sold to you had advertised it as 53K miles and it turned out to be 86K miles. Make sure you keep a hold of any adverts or reciept of sale till you get the mileage confimed. Your car looks good from the pics :D
  3. Hi mate welcome to the club Sounds like you have a AS200 there if its 6 cly engine its the same one thats in the lexus is200.Sure its about 150 bhp standard The RS200 has the 4cyl beams engine in it.210bhp and has beams written on top of the engine funnily enough!! The emisions should be the same again unless you remove the cat or tamper with exhaust. I would have thought when they converted the spedeo they would have done the odometer as well.Im sure its the one module that plugs in to back of dash that converts the KMPH to MPH and KM to MILES at the same time. 86000km definitly converts to 530000 miles (1km=0.62 miles) You should ask if the car has a bimta certificate or any documents to support what miles it had before it was imported that would tell you the mileage that it had in japan before it arrived here.If you reckon that when you drove it home the mileage was about right then it must have been converted to miles. Hope that helps a bit
  4. Well guys took car to garage today checked engine mounts and driveshaft adjusters but no joy everything looks fine, still looks like propshaft problem at rear, need to wait till problem more severe !!!!

  8. Any you guys had this problem mines has started to make vibrating noise only now and again seems to be more noticable between 60-40 mph.If you let car free wheel with no accelelation at that speed noise appears but dissapears under acceleration or by puting the clutch in.Seems like a propshaft problem but when inspected on ramp everything looks fine, mechanic in garage thinks propshaft but no visable clues.Any ideas or help appriciated !!!!!!!!
  9. Seems like a bit hard work tape, dental floss, heat guns,If you try kettle trick Thats how professional bodyshops debadge your car.
  10. The best and eaisiest way to take the badge of is to boil kettle and pour the hot water over badge and slowly with your nails pull badge away from car.Do it slowly and all the sticky foam behind it should come of with it.If not use tar and glue remover to take the sticky foam off and then polish where badge was to bring fresh paint up. :D :D :D
  11. Try it i get the same problem with mine other day i got out and tried to lock the car and heard the chime noise it makes when the key is in ignition although key was in my hand at time.Only does it now and again mind you not all the time.
  12. Hi guys Sometimes ive had the same problem and i'll tell you what i think it is,make sure the ignition switch/barell is fully anticlock wise when you pull the key out as sometimes it sticks and it will not let you lock the doors using the plip as it thinks the key is still in the ignition obviously.Try turning ignition on off a few timesand see how you get on,should cure problem!!!!!! :D :D

    Keys

Hi Guys I had the same problem regarging the keys i have a Altezza RS200 and looks the the solution to the immobiliser probem is ,some but not all of TIMPSON (high st brand shops) have the laser cutter to do keys, also in the shop itsself some shops have a machine that the locksmith uses and by putting the key in this machine he can tell within seconds whether there is a transponder in the key or not.but as a final check as GPS suggested in another post remove the plip unit from the key and see if the car starts without it keeping the plip unit away from the car when you do this and if starts HAPPY DAYS you can get key cut for about £10. moral of the story looks like not all Altezzas have the immobiliser built in as standard. Hope this helps :D :D :D

    Help

Hi Guys 2 questions today does anybody know a repair shop that can fix toyota cd/minidisk/tv players most people i speak to won't look at it because they can't get parts for it being an import. Also does the RS200 come with an immobiliser as standard hooked up to the alarm reason i ask is i need to get another key cut and toyota are having a laugh at £150 can get one cut at my local key cut place for £10 but if the car has an immobiliser as standard and transponder is in the key then all i will be able to do with that key is open doors manually and not drive it which is no good.Any ideas cheers
  16. Hi Guys Well i'm gutted today looks like the problem was more serious than just a wire off, all the power was there looks like a ribbon cable that connects the display screen to unit had come out and possibly is damaged and even pushing it back in connector still dosn,t work.Looks like somebodys had a go at it already !!!!.Just got a standard cd head unit fitted for now.Had a look in boot for sat nav cd but def not there. This unit from my car has cd/sat nav/tv/mini disk player all in one would have been great to get it working.looks like need to find local tv/stereo repair type place to have a look.Next time i fill up with fuel ill reset trip and see what i get and compare notes.
  17. Cheers Guys Hi scott lottery came up eventually managed to get a blue one much same bodykit as yours standard tezz alloys and it was in Uk already so didn't have to part with cash till i'd seen it, you how nervous i was about that (LOL). I think you were the only one that put any effort into finding one for me mate rest of monkeys i dealt with must be millionaires as they didn't put much effort into finding one for me!!!!!!.came across company called PRESTIEGE MOTORSPORT they were really helpfull too but same kind of terms and conditions as yourself and sent loads of pics every other day. Seems to be going ok nipped it down to local car hi fi specialist today going to have a look at it for me tommorow hopefully it will be nothing more than a loose wire noticed today that it also has mini disk which is another bonus.just a pity there wasn't a cheap fix to get sat nav working in uk.I'll let you know how i get on. Seems bit thirsty on fuel, gauge seems to be on move everytime out in it (lol)
  18. Hi Guys looks like i'm the newest member to your group just bought an Altezza Rs200 yesterday and after reading a lot of your replys to various subjects it was really helpfull when buying it. really pleased with it so far.Only problem i have with it is that the cd/satnav/tv is not working at all !!!. I think either a wire has come off at back or the wire to the display screen has broken.the model no is NMCT D59 . and its an all in one unit located in middle of dash.I had only ever seen the pop up screen type on top of dash till this one but because theres no power going to it i cant get screen to retract down and i guess the cds go in behind display. Now i know the sat nav will not work in uk without a software upgrade,What my question is does anybody no if the tv will work in the uk as the dilema i have is wether to take it out and replace it with a normal stereo/cd head unit but would like to keep it in as it looks the part and if the tv will work that would be a bonus!! i wouldn't imagine its going to be too hard to fix if its just a wire thats come off but if it turns out a more serious problem wouldn't mind paying to get it fixed if i know the tv will work. The other thing is does the stereo just pull out like any other or is it bolted in from behind and centre part of dash has to come out to remove it. Any help or thoughts guys Cheers
