  1. My bulb has just gone. Thanks for reminding me why I never use Lexus. I'll change it myself. Just got to be wary of the supposed high voltage of the HID bulbs.
  2. Thanks guys, I'll try this tomorrow. I tried the reset with the paperclip over TS and GS points in the OBy1knobie connector thing. Failed, i didn't really have the time to do it properly. I didn't bleed the brakes but opened the bleed screw (attached to a non-return bleed kit full of new brake fluid) in order to push the caliper in.. I believe it wouldn't go in because the radio was on... first setting on the ignition button... When did cars become so bloody technical? Although the dynamic braking doesn't work on pressing the brake pedal, I can still change down and use dynamic braking that way. Was fun driving tonight manually. Bloody brakes are sharp without the computer controlling them.
  3. Hello chaps.. First let me say that I am a 1970's diesel plant mechanic.. On that basis I decided to change my front brake pads... with the radio on.. (which flattened the battery eventually) and now have Check ABS, Check VSC, Check ECB and BRAKE MALFUNCTION error codes showing. After reading up on it, I realise that I should have disconnected the battery, put the keys in the house and spoke nicely to the software that now runs my car. Didn't have all that stuff on diggers in my day.. lol I've got a techstream and connector coming. Is this all I need to reset the ABS and other systems? I really don't want to give it to Lexus as two weeks after buying the car they tried to cheat me out of £1500 for a small service that wasn't required. Cheers in advance. (and yes, next time I will RTFB first.)
  4. Yeah bin it.. it's in the wrong section. tsk. newbies huh.
  5. Why does every supplier believe that just because you have purchased a Lexus you must be loaded?!? Mine is 4th hand, cost less than a brand new Focus and has all the luxury of a er... erm.. Lexus. I asked about a tow bar.. "Have one fitted for £126" They said... oh... a Lexus.. that'll be £870 please. Same with servicing and spare parts. I get my servicing done with Nick at the local garage. He sources pukka Lexus parts from the Land of Nippon for a tenth of the price of Lexus Bolton. BTW, A (small) service nowadays means taking out the air filter and banging it on your overalls. 60,000 mile platinum sparkplugs, digital sparking system, fuel injection, computer controlled engine management system... what is there to service?
  6. I drive over to Germany /Austria every Christmas and on the Chunnel I seem to be the only Brit who puts headlight conversion stickers on my headlights. Don't see any police stopping Brit cars and issuing a fine, so bollox to it mate. Just leave them off or buy some from Halfords. Along with your breath test kit, hi-vi, warning triangle and wad of dosh to bribe the Spanish traffic cops.
  7. Be Wary of servicing at Lexus mate. I bought my 4th(?) hand GS450h a couple of years ago and immediately put it in for a small service at Lexus Bolton. They tried to bluff me that i needed to change all 4 discs and pads adding over a grand onto a already large bill. I told them where to go and went back to the garage where i bought it and complained as it had undergone a '200 point check' prior to me buying. They should not, I pointed out, have allowed me to drive away in an unsafe car. I couldn't trust either garage so took it to Nick down the road. A small trustworthy garage run by Nick... of course.. :-) Put it up on the ramps, we had a look and there was nothing wrong with the discs or pads. So be wary ds001 with Lexus once they get their hands on your car. Do not trust them if they say there is work to be done. Reference the boot. Have you read through all the hand book? I keep it in the map pocket and read it when the wife is shopping. There is SO MUCH that you can adjust by holding in a button here and there.
