  1. Dan. Not a Lexus query-after 9 years of LS 400s, I'm going back to my first love....Citroen. First one was 1979, and I've had DSs,CXs, Traction, GSAs.....though I still partake on Lexus site.

Now I've found a pristine 40K mile 3Litre XM, 2000 (last year they were made) owned from new by serious Citroen folk. Can I get Agreed value (£6000) Classic Car insurance on a 16 year old car? No commuting, (I'm retired) 15+ NC, no problems, circa 4000 miles a year.

I can get 'normal' insurance for about £187, but prefer to treat it (as it will be treated) as Classic.

I'm 69, fit, no problems, in outer Bristol with private cul-de-sac house, with dedicated garage for XM, plus a Micra for daily use.

  2. Seeing 'Access denied' on a few SC 430 posts I can't get to, then thinking....they all are Lexusman007's posts......has -say?- he transgressed somehow?

Or is it just a glitch?

  3. Well, according to my staff in early 80s, I'd be Gorodish from 'Diva' film!

    Not as catchy as Zippy!

Rather abstruse reference nowadays. He lived in a Warehouse, drove a Traction Avant-like me, etc..

I'm a month younger than you. Prostate still intact, though BP rising slightly. Awaiting decline, but resisting.

Kept young by not having children-the reason I could afford a Lexus? (-:

  4. Thanks for the lpg references. Am looking at a 2004 Nissan X trail with the Stefanelli fitted.

I suppose I could hope that, if it's lasted this long it might go on being OK. Ever the optimist!

It's my  compromise - a biggish car but with 40+ equiv mpg. And reliable/rugged enough; no fancy computers to go wrong-well....less!

      You're welcome Chris.

And you're right, it's nice to run a big comfy motor for relative peanuts.

Hope it works out for you.

  5. Autotrader had a 99K mile Set 4 for sale, somewhere (Newport?) near you last week. (S441 JGM) that 'vanished'. Wish I could locate it!

  6. One of the LSs is mine! The 89K mile one in maroon.

  7. Too late! You could have bought a nice CX Turbo 2........

I'm imminently selling my LS to do (nearly) that. I want an Auto though.

Wish I'd never sold my CX Turbo-Auto hybrid!

Not, as you are WELL aware, there's anything wrong with the LS! Each time I drive it, I start to tell myself "Keep it!!".

But the pull of the heart is more than...

  8. Did I send you this before?

I'm buying an old Citroen soon!

  9. Did you ever sell your spare wheels?

Glad to see you got your problem solved!

  10. I'll hope you notice my post on LS400 section, re wheel balancing.

If you weren't 100 miles away from me in Bristol, I'd have been around!

    May yet!

You did my car balance a few years (but only about 8000 miles...back.

After TWO tyre places, it is getting near the same ££s as visiting you! Or (as I say, half in jest) on my post, I should look...

  11. Better buy my 90K mile LS400 (Ser 4) for £4K-tho' not LPG.(Use the £1K for that!)

  12. How's the rebuild going?

Just back from pleasant drive to Maiden Newton and back.

Passed a Citroen DS (I had 4 in my life) and thought......hmm; maybe leave the past where it is

  13. Graham (Rangemastiffs) was enquiring about mine too, but I think he's hoping for £1500! Didn't reply after I told him £3250!

Enjoy the 'Soarer'! Saw TWO yesterday on the road.

Not my cup of tea, but should be lovely, as long as you only need 2 seats. Is the boot smaller too?

I'll probably keep mine. I retired 3 years ago at 60, no more cash input,...

  14. LPG.

There are strings on this; look in Archive on here. One member offers a discount at a place --I seem to recall it's not far from you, but my memory might be wrong!

  15. Status? Driven? No, relaxed.
