  1. Read on a hifi site “a friend has a Jag iPace, plus a RAV4 for commute. Hates to admit he prefers driving the RAV” !! Open to offers as Lexus awaits!
  2. A bit tenuous maybe, but, when I had a Citroen DS23, parked in supermarket-on-corner car park, I came out to find ALL the cars had been stabbed with 2 tyres each car, flat Luckily I’d broken a DS earlier and had 5 spare wheels. Changing tyres on a DS is a breeze-you utilise the hydro-pneumatic system, up,down, up and…..done! ……broken a DS! Sacrilege!!
  3. Luckily, the AA says that the average motorist gets a flat tyre every 97,000 miles. (I think it was). So fingers crossed…..but not whilst driving! Avon bridge can be seen from our garden. Chris, (hoping to sell RAV4 so I can be back in a Lexus again)
  4. I guess the thought of just how fast the traffic goes as well? I recall seeing a car doing a spin on the m5 about 100 metres ahead and all hell broke out! At 70+ there’s no room to stop given how close people drive….the ‘two chevrons thing doesn’t apply to me’ mentality? Combine the chance of a front wheel blow-out with a multiple shunt from a few trucks and THEN test the railings strength? The Avon bridge was closed completely a few years back after a fatality/shunt there. Meant a 12 mile detour for weeks after, mostly going past our house! I may be over cautious but I always try to keep a good space ahead when crossing the Avon bridge now.
  5. Lexus? Have my eye on one -just need sale of RAV. I never really left (here).
  6. Yes,I always drive in the ‘middle’ lane coming home (Bristol) from Portishead, not wanting to be SO close to the rail and a plunge!! I think the s-bound side either has a gap,OR the wall is a bit high. Can’t say I want to stop en route to check! Though you can walk over/cycle over the river there. There’s a nice river walk below called locally, “The yellow brick road’ -its yellow enough though not brick. River has been very high lately, flooded the train line.
  7. It was on south-wards side.Vaulting over the fence is definitely not a good idea; there IS a separate footpath/roadway there, for maintenance and cycles, but there is a gap with potential drop into the Avon or the nature reserve along the river! No it wasn’t a Lex.Just a triangle plus a worried driver.

  9. Saw one in use only yesterday! On the apogee of the bridge over the Avon on M5! WHAT a place to break down! No way to escape….
  10. Anyone else needs a RAV4 ,just get in touch! Apologies for mis-using your string! Couldn’t resist! (i AM selling to buy an LS!)
  11. It’s going to be interesting if I manage to buy a(nother!) LS400 (ser 4). Reading this string……not sure if I’m put off,or educated! Brilliant.
  12. £4950 now. Reduced . A bargain for someone? Serviced mainly by Lexus dealers!
  13. Looking to buy an LS430 so my low mile, good condition RAV 4 will soon be available. (is this allowed on a Lexus site?) if not, ditch the ad! The RAV is in lovely condition;took me a while to find a good one as most have rust issues. was hoping my wife might occasionally drive it, but…..no go. So…… Then along comes a nice 430 to tempt me back to Lex! 71K miles, leather interior, auto ,mainly Lexus service history,MOT August. £6450 to LC MEMBERS. £6750 elsewhere. So,if you’re looking for a good 2nd car……these 3 door cars seem to have acquired a cachet and are sought after. Car in Bristol.
  14. I’m holding on to info that there’s a good custom fabricators just over the hill from me, for the day I get an LS430.
  15. Car and classic site have a lovely Citroen cx Prestige that I’d have once I won on ERNIE.
  16. I’ve always thought that a Toroid tank, situated in the wheel well in boot, was the best solution. But, having seen a 430 using a ‘cylinder’ located just behind the rear seats, it looks as if there’s still quite a useable boot space. i don’t know the capacity of this cylinder-does anyone have lpg using this? I might be converted! All I have do is sell my RAV 3door car and I’ll be back to Lexus!
  17. Set right thought the sound system in the LS400 was the best he’d heard. As a music/hifi fan,it’s a large part of my liking the cars.
  18. You need a 1948 Cadillac fast-back! There are some Japanese import Lex 600s about,at lower price; I spied a lovely white on for…..£8K, if I remember correctly. not as many folk want big cars,to our benefit!
  19. Spent a contented few hours reading this.many thanks. Thinking of getting an LS 430 (to complete the set….ser 2 then 3 then….) need to shift my RAV4 first.(3 door Ser 2 car ,silver,71K miles) nice maroon lpg car on Autotrader…or the ‘slight panel damage’ 50K mile blue one on t’bay. Chris in Bristol.
  20. Just checking for 2 430s. A 2001 car is no charge. A 2005 car IS charged!! Any logic?
  21. VERY interested! Will contact you. (hope I’m not too late!!) Chris in Bristol
