  1. This is my personal feeling, but I feel as if this is a half baked attempt by Lexus. I fully appreciate that this is a big, heavy car, but a 200 mile range is not great in the grand scheme of things. I'm not sure about the battery chemistry, but if it's the case that you are keeping it between 20 and 80% and people are getting 200 miles out of a full charge then 160 is what you might expect. When you have Kia, Tesla and many others claiming more miles, I'm not sure how Toyota, who were one of the first to dip their toe in the electric market with Hybrid batteries are so far behind. They haven't got anything which can do 300+ miles. For most of my driving, yes 200 mile range would be good, but for the times we go to Southampton, we would potentially make it there, but then have to charge on the way back. Recently, we went on a cruise from Southampton. I am glad that we didn't take the EV. On the way down, we stopped at Leigh Delamere services to find their chargers were all in use. Their fast chargers were labelled as 25kw on Zap Map. There was a queue of EV waiting to use them too. On the return journey, in Membrey, the electric charge points were out of action for some unknown reason.
  2. It's very frustrating. What on earth do they think is going to happen. When people are spending a large amount of money on a car, they are going to want the backup and support of a premium retailer. 'Coming weeks' is just not good enough, i'm sorry. There's no reason why they cannot give an accurate time frame for product delivery.
  3. I thought i'd start a thread based around the CANbus fix through Lexus. Personally, i'm very disappointed in Lexus. I know they are not the only manufacture to be troubled by this, however, over the years, I have avoided getting an RX due to CAT thefts, and this is something else which is just tainting the brand. I fully acknowledge that they cannot contact every owner as DVSA do not consider it to be a safety issue, however, they could easily have sent a letter to anyone who has had their vehicle serviced in the last few years with them. Annoyingly, this fix is going to be chargeable. If anyone has had it, could they state how much it has cost them? My nearest dealership is an hour away, which means that if this fix is completed, it will take most of the day to complete. My concern is, however, that this is still going to have an impact on these cars. Once this fix is put in place, how will an opportunist know it's not worth their time without dismantling your bumper as a fix has been completed? Maybe a window sticker is needed 😉
  4. I had an IS250 with a pioneer system which was excellent - I then tried a normal NX300h Lux with the standard speaker system and found it underwhelming. I have the ML in my NX300h which is good, however, I remember having a 300h on loan from Lexus whilst my IS was in for service and being totally blown away by it.
  5. Just to update - I replaced my Bridgestones with Cross Climate 2s. Might be anecdotal, however, it does seem to be quieter inside on the roads I have driven on. I have yet to take it on a motorway, however, it does appear to be quieter.
  6. I need all 4 replaced. Are cross climate 2 still worth it? I can get Bridgestone for a few quid cheaper, and according to the noise ratings, they are a little quieter, however, opinion on here is that the Michelins are good.
  7. My local dealership would not do the alignment for me unless I changed all 4 tyres with them. They said it was their policy as they could not guarantee 100% accuracy. This was on a 2018 NX. The drivers side rear is wearing more on the inner than it should. Having said that, with the number of speed humps around here, the inners of all 4 will probably go before the tyre has gone.
  8. What's the electric only range like on the 350h? My 300h is around a mile. The only other thing that would make the 350h better would be a better battery technology? i'm not sure what it uses.
  9. I just find it poor form on Lexus' behalf. This didn't happen on my previous IS, and didn't happen on my Volvo before that. If they were really that concerned about putting the customers first, then they would do something about it. Unfortunately, this only applies for safety recalls e.g. the Toyota airbag saga.
  10. I meant to post this last month, however life got in the way. Whenever we go on holiday, we always take the wife's car. She has a Tiguan which has loads of space, and I have the 'smaller' NX. This year with a baby in tow, we had a bit more than we normally take. Usually, we put one case in the car, one on the back seat, however this year we had a bit more to take. I tried to get the cases in to the Tiguan, and it wasn't having any of it. I went to switch the cases with my parents as they have smaller cases. To my surprise, the NX's boot swallowed both cases side by side. A quick change of registration for the parking, and the NX was loaded up. I was utterly amazed on how the NX took everything so well. We tethered everything so that it wouldn't move and made our way to Southampton. Just for reference, there are two large cases, a normal size case on top, a carry on flight case, holdall and a backpack. I could have probably still fitted a bit more down the sides too. The Tiguan is definitely bigger, and had more leg room, but cargo space, not a chance. Well done NX!
  11. I have a 300h here. It seems to do 41 MPG short journeys, I can get that up to 44MPG on a motorway drive. In comparison to my IS250, the 250 would be 30 around town and anywhere up to 50MPG on the motorway.
  12. Well, it has been nearly a year (9 months roughly) since I last posted in this thread and two days in a row, I have had this error again. annoyed a bit. I think this goes to show it’s a hardware fault and not a software fault? This never happened with my last IS.
  13. I thought that too, as most of my other cars have had some sort of camber, however, it seems that only the driver's side rear tyre is starting to wear on the inside. To be fair, the guys in Kwik Fit did explain that if they were to change anything then everything would need to be re-aligned, however they said that this could have an adverse effect on the lane keeping assist. I didn't do anything with it, however my service is due next month, so I was thinking of asking them to look at, however I don't want them to charge £100 just to say yes It's out, we can't adjust, that's how it is, but buy a new tyre.
  14. Last month I had my MOT. Whilst the car was on the ramp the tester commented that the inner rear drivers tyre was starting to wear and that I should get the tracking adjusted. I took it to Kwik Fit for them to check it. The front was spot on but the back was out on both wheels. The guys in Kiwk fit said that they couldn’t adjust it as it was a dealer only kind of thing. So, has anyone had this done in the past? How much would you expect to pay for it? I can scan the print out in if anyone would like to see how far it was out.
  15. What's the deal these days with tyres? I might need to get a rear drivers side in the next few months. In my last MOT (Yesterday) the tester advised me to get the rear alignment checked. Has anyone had this done?
  16. The thing that you have to remember is this... when reviewers look at the car, they typically thrash them around a race track, and complete lots of standing starts etc; that's not how I drive. I drive normally, from 0 - 20, then 20-30 or 50-70 on the motorway. The CVT is excellent for that. The CVT is great for smooth driving. My wife has a VW Tiguan with the DSG box. It's smooth, however the CVT is smoother. The DSG gets flustered at a roundabout. If you creep forward in the VW, it will change to second gear, then if you need to go quickly, it will try and spool the turbo up try to move, realise it can't get off quickly and then change down. We have been caught out a few times like this, meanwhile the CVT just works.
  17. What’s the distance of ev only range on the new NX350h? My 300h will do around a mile on battery
  18. Yes, however, when I'm cold in the car, I would expect setting it to 25, it blows out warm air? Or am I missing a concept here?
  19. Simples. When the car was set to 25oC, the air didn't feel very warm, certainly not 25oC. My previous IS at 23oC would be very warm, whereas the NX was not.
  20. yes, maybe. As I suffer from raynaud's, I usually have the vents pointed at the steering wheel to warm my hands. The heated steering wheel is lovely too. I guess its just a different car, different design.
  21. Well, this is very strange. The display temperature outside said 10oC. I cranked the heating up to Hi and set it to blow out taking a reading after a few minutes and this was the result: It seems that it is warm, although she was in EV mode, it had only just knocked off just before I took the photo. I suppose all is well, I just need to run it on HI.
