Mate, can’t say I’m not gutted you’ve left the fold BUT loving the fact you’re enjoying the little rocket, love to Nat and kids, hopefully get up to see you later this year if I can, hopefully popping up to my uncles in the lakes, will talk soon 👍🏻

I may have left the fold mate but I’ll always have a big soft spot for F cars, also it won’t change our “F”riendship even though I can’t let the tax thing go lol

Thank you, love to you and Leanne and the family.

Would love to meet up later this year too, just give me a shout.

🙂 gr yaris, a great capable car!
my gripe would be the noise (but i am sure someone will come up with an exhaust and intake to improve this), and it would be great to have a more raw feel.

+ It is still quite pricey for one in the current market.

The GRMN yaris is good buy too! Loving the supercharger whine.

It’s an extremely capable car mate, with regards to the exhaust the Toyota engineers designed it to be quieter due to vibrations coming through the cabin with a sportier exhaust due to the way the car is constructed (homologated rally car made for the road, aluminium bonnet, doors and boot plus carbon roof etc tend to vibrate ).There’s been lots of complaints from people with aftermarket systems with regards to this. Induction wise, Eventuri do a nice intake but for £1200 and 6 bhp I think I’ll stick with the plumbed in noise. I know it’s artificial but it sounds like a mini RS3 which I love, as I get older I like the noise in the cabin but not trying too hard outside.

They are pricey but it’s the best car purchase I’ve ever made.

Loving the GRMN, I’ll bet it sounds like amazing!

That certainly is a different beast.

    Good you like it.

Long time ago I loved driving a Lancia delta integrale EVO 2 fully prepared, but that was long time ago. Later MR2 version 1 and MR2 Spyder were enough for me. Also a Smart Roadster Coupé was fun. With the car you chose I am sure you are less than half my age.

    Enjoy it. Drive safe.

Thank you and I’ll bet that was some experience.

Funnily reviewers have compared the GR to the Integrale. I’m 48 and I’ve had 7 Subaru Imprezas in my younger years including a P1, loved rally cars due to Colin McRae. The GR feels like a back to basics all out fun drivers car that just rewards you the more you push it.

  4. Hi all, thought I’d just put a post up about letting my F go, purchased an immaculate 2 owner 2010 MY11 USB IS-F last year. (I’d owned a grey 2008 IS-F for 5 years previously too)
Took it on track at Donington and it was great fun, but I soon realised to get it to a point I could really enjoy it on track I’d have to spend some serious money, also if I’m honest it was just too nice to track. So sold it about 2 months ago to a car dealer in Scotland for what I paid for it a year before. Must admit I didn’t gel with it like I did my 08. Even with the lsd, updates and fitting a H&S exhaust I just didn’t feel the love for it like I did my grey one which is a shame.

Anyway I went for a GR Yaris with circuit pack. I didn’t even test drive it, just went with the hope the hype was real. Oh my good the hype was real and then some, what Toyota have created is absolutely phenomenal! You cannot believe it’s a 1.6 3 cylinder turbo, it’s an absolute weapon, the mid range shove and the way it catapults you down a straight to the next bend is mind blowing, the manual 6 speed is a delight too. A roads wet or dry is just ballistic and on the motorway it’s just effortless (I don’t care about mpg but 35-40 when constantly tickling it and 28 when ringing it’s neck) and such an engaging drivers car. It makes you smile like a Cheshire Cat every time you drive it and you are itching to keep driving it which I haven’t felt with a car for such a long time and i’m 48. I cannot wait to track it and also I’ve got a Nurburgring trip booked next year. So as you can see I’m very happy with my purchase and if you think I’m just new car drunk, go and drive one.

    UPDATE:

So Lexus have diagnosed the problem as the valley plate leak. They want to replace the heat transfer unit and the sealant however the sealant is out of stock.....surprise surprise! So they put my car back together and told me to wait till it comes in stock....been like a month now and haven't heard anything from them.....i've emailed Lexus UK and basically got told to just wait and they won't get involved.

Got to be one of the first valley plates here in the UK?

    Sounds angry love it!

Are you going to get Db tested? I am going to shoot down to Brands Hatch next week to get MSVT to test my car with the Invidia on it. Rather than getting black flagged and wasting money spent, they said I can get tested at my local track and then know whether to book or not. Fingers crossed.

    Cheers mate.

I don’t think i will as I’m pretty sure it won’t pass, it’s louder than the catback I had for sure, but I may get away with it at Anglesey.

Good move getting yours tested, it’s a lot of money to waste to get black flagged. You’ll have to tell me how you get on too.

Thought id do a little post about this as I haven't seen much mention of it.  I found recently that Roose Motorsport (English manufacturer of silicon hoses for motorsport) make (to order) silicone intake elbows for the ISF and so ordered one, as I had wanted a new elbow for a while for the noise/coolness/etc and at £130 to the door it was much cheaper than a US import.

They come in 10+ colours with the option of the company logo but I went with unbranded and black because I'm boring, I also ordered the optional stainless hose clips (You can use the factory ones if you prefer).

Looks: It looks cooler than stock, admittedly it's no burnt titanium pipe but then it is 1/4 the price of one 😛

Sounds: It sounds cooler than the muffled/resonated stock elbow, this is what I wanted.

Performance: The car feels to be pulling stronger but I'm fairly sure that's just a placebo from the cooler sound haha (I have a TOMs panel filter so that plus an upgraded intake elbow should add a couple of HP, but on a 400+ HP car it won't be enough to actually feel).

Fitment/Installation: Everything fits well, I have one arm and it's on the car without personal injury so I guess that's top marks.

Really liking this mate and fair play to you fitting it with one arm.

  8. Hi all,

Got my MY11 F back in July last year, I’ve enjoyed it completely stock and took it on a track day at Donington too. Love the induction noise but due to owning a 08 ISF before with a Hayward and Scott catback (no x pipe) I always felt I wanted that noise back, I missed it.
So after researching it I thought what the hell as it’s a weekend car and decided to go one step further this time and have the secondary cats deleted and replaced with the silencers, no x pipe. Also I liked the idea of the original system being left untouched and I could just refit it if I needed to.

First impressions, it’s naughty. Cruises at any set speed (motorway/town) with just a nice burble, no drone type noise that I can hear, but when you get on the revs my god it’s evil and really loud, the downshifts are just nasty too. The 9 months pregnant wife doesn’t think it’s too loud and my 23 month old boy loves it! So maybe I just need to adjust to it and man up lol

Here’s a few videos, listen for the blip on the drive past,  I’ve also had the emissions checked too, no issues.

  9. I’ve come from owning a 08 ISF for 5 years to a late 10 MY11 ISF with the upgraded suspension. I’ve got to say it’s a vast improvement over my 08. Definitely a worthy upgrade to do if you can get it.

With regards to the LSD, if you can fit one do it. I was constantly on the look out for one when I had my 08 and even considered buying one new from Lexus but £4800 seemed a bit steep. Couldn’t fault my 08 handling wise, but I always wanted a bit more fun out of junctions etc and the LSD really does transform the ISF, it’s so much more playful/fun on road and on track.
