Security plates
NemesisUK replied to Paul Mingay's topic in RX 300 / RX 350 / RX 400h / RX 200t / RX 450h Club
Not a mark on mine after the fitting. Apart from looking cleaner under the wheel arch I would not have known anything had been done. 👍 -

Gas filled shocks also have fluid in them. Shock absorbers have had gas over oil for many, many years now. Shock absorbers are not generally made to be repaired or refurbished.

Severe shuddering when braking between 40-60MPH
NemesisUK replied to robxenotech's topic in Brakes & Suspension
Pad material deposited on the discs can cause a brake judder. A couple of hard stops from speed can remove this but depending on driving style and where one drives can cause a build up again. When you say 'new front brakes' what exactly did you change? If you replaced the discs you may have introduced some dirt or rust between the disc and hub mounting face. The smallest amount can cause a very bad judder. The mounting faces must be scrupulously clean. I'd recommend getting a good garage to check over the brakes, if it is that bad a quick test drive by the technician will illustrate the problem. -
Smart water won't stop the car being stolen but it will help identify the parts after it is broken for spares...

Or possibly an air leak in the intake system?

New LEXUS LC500 CONVERTIBLE ULTIMATE EDITION 002/165
NemesisUK replied to Philip Stone's topic in Lexus LC500 Coupe Club
To some, yes. The inclusion of PPF can increase the costs of any repairs. -

Were the lights not on anyway, evening low light? -
On some models the heating degree can be adjusted +2 to -2, maybe it's been turned down?

If the suspension geometry is being reset to factory values then why would the ADAS system need recalibrating? -

12V battery problem
NemesisUK replied to David Williamson's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h Club
I don't think any of the boot/bonnet/tailgate seals are tight enough to not allow the thin cable form the charger to pass through when fully closed. The seals are quite compliant. I trickle charge my AMG via the closed boot without issue. -
12V battery problem
NemesisUK replied to David Williamson's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h Club
I think you will find many 'luxury' marques have this 'issue'. Mercedes for example supply trickle chargers with their top-end sports cars simply because they know the cars will be driven less frequently. The fact that not all NX owners suffer this problem leads one to believe it must be a usage or car specific issue, for example, perhaps poorly fitted extras causing a parasitic drain? -
Higher tyre pressures are required for prolonged (>1hour) high speeds because of the degree of tyre deflection as it rotates and this causes heat and tyre instability. If one measures the wheel/tyre radius on the loaded side (between the axle and the road) and the unloaded side (between the axle and the top of the tyre) there is a significant difference. As the tyre rotates it has to deform/deflect numerous times per mile. This deflection has to be controlled and this is done by increasing the internal pressure to help equalise these to measurements.

LBX UK delivery date
NemesisUK replied to GruffaloRider's topic in Lexus LBX Owners Club - The All-New Lexus LBX
Because insurers have no stats on the LBX, so still bit of an unknown regarding repairs costing etc.. The actual power of the vehicle has relatively little impact on insurance, my 470bhp CLS was cheaper to insure than my 170bhp C class (both cars same age) -
I thought it was because of the rpm limit on MG1
