  1. On mine the foglight lenses are tinted yellow so could that be your problem??? Cheers Dave.
  2. Thanks guys.... I have a couple of Maxell CD-R's left so might try burning another one of those but on the laptop's burner rather than the PC's burner. If not i'll try a 10-pack of the Verbatim CD-R's as they're only £3 or £4. Cheers Dave.
  3. They do on the 300..... And we've had both an IS200 and an IS300. I guess the one's who've replied on here must just be lucky then. :) Cheers Dave.
  4. Have a few digital albums i wan to burn onto CD to use in the car but wanted to know which CD-R's defo work??? I've tried some good quality CD-RW's which the HU didn't recognise. Then tried some cheapo CD-R's i had which it read ok till it warmed up then started to skip. What CD-R's are people using with the OEM Lexus HU that work fine??? Thanks in advance. Cheers Dave.
  5. Bought some autosol and a selection of steel wool from Halfrauds today and have cleaned up the exhaust. Must say it's come up an absolute treat and looks as good as the day it left the factory. :) Thanks again guys. :winky: Cheers Dave.
  6. Just as an update to my posts above.... I've just had the low fuel light come on after 325 miles.... Just brimmed it after doing 330 miles and put just under 60 litres in, so around a gallon and a half still in the tank, and the mpg for the tank works out at exactly 25mpg. That's with all but around 50-60 miles being motorway so not too bad to say the official combined is 26.2mpg??? I also had the air-con permanently on for around the first 150-200 miles of the tank as i didn't realise it was on .... I was still getting used to the car at that time too. So maybe i could have got a little more out of it??? Cheers Dave.
  7. Hmmmm i've already got some brasso from cleaning the Chrome exhaust trim on my old car. Would the Brasso be as good as the autosol??? Are they the same sort of thing??? Cheers Dave.
  8. The IS300 spec sheet on this forum says..... "Photochromatic rear view mirrors" I also drive a car with just auto dimming interior rearview mirror and i can tell the difference between that and my IS300 as i do a lot of night time motorway driving and the wing mirrors seem to be anti glare etc too. Cheers Dave.
  9. But don't the mirrors differ in that the IS300 has auto dimming rear view and wing mirrors and the IS200 doesn't??? Cheers Dave.
  10. Saw this just now on the Briskoda forum from a new Fabia vRS owner, (The one with the DRL's in the foglight position).... "Was driving along the A259 through Sandgate this afternoon in a law abiding manner, when a Officer of the Law in an Octavia coming opposite direction signalled me to pull over. Which I did so. Of course. He does 3 point turn and pulls up alongside and says. "You shouldnt have your front fog lights on!" Then pulls in front of me. I dig the handbook out. I know whats coming. We get out of our cars. "You know, you shouldnt have fog lights on in good visibilty?" I reply that the lights are Day time Running Lights and all new cars are getting them!!! "Oh yes I can see now, they arent fog lights! I do apologise. I`ll go off now and find someone who is breaking the law!!" I know that DRL`s arent that common, but Ive seen them on Octavias, Mercs, Audi`s, DS-3`s, Polos Golfs. So they are becoming more common." Cheers Dave.
  11. Thanks guys... Looks like autosol is the way forward as had some suggestions for that in the other car forum i use. :winky: Cheers Dave.

  13. Hi all, This might sound like a daft question but during the recent poor weather the car hasn't been used much and i've noticed the stainless steel end of the exhaust looks a little rusty / dis-coloured. My previous cars have had chrome exhaust tips/trims etc... which i've cleaned up with brasso but i've not had one with a stainless exhaust tip like my IS300 LE has, so how do i go about bringing it back up to a nice looking finish again??? Any help would be appreciated. Cheers Dave.

  15. Just as a follow up to this.... I think you need to have another word with your dealer as i spoke to Lexus Sheffield on Monday about one of these and they ordered one and i collected it today. Cost £7. :winky: Also just to point out that the production date on the bottom edge of the label says 07/10 so it's not like it's very old stock. Here's the said item..... Cheers Dave.
  16. Looking at the previous items sold in his feedback looks like quite a few things that might have fallen off the back of some lorries / car transporters. :whistling: Also out of interest when did they swap the mpg and engine temp. gauges over on the dash??? Mine's a 2004 and has them the opposite way round. Cheers Dave.
  17. Hi and welcome to the forum. I can't help you with your request myself but you may get a better response if you post the question in the IS220d forum rather than here as this is the place for the Previous IS models. :winky: Cheers Dave.
  18. Wouldn't a blown fuse stop the lights from coming on at all rather than keeping them lit permanently??? :winky: Cheers Dave.
  19. Noticed that about the only blemish on my IS is the chips on the grille (It's an LE). I was thinking of touching it up or possibly respraying but wondered if the paint is available from Lexus to touch up or if not is it just a standard satin finish??? Suspecting it would be satin black??? Does anyone have any advice on this as to whether it's a case of just respraying the whole grille or can touch up pens be obtained for the grille??? Cheers Dave.
  20. Just checked mine again.... The front's do indeed have an indicator on the dash but the rears don't seem to..... They do have an LED / light on the rear foglight button itself that comes on when the rear fogs are turned on. Cheers Dave.
  21. I don't think the front foglight has a sign on the dash.... That's the rear foglights that do that. You are twisting the switch on the left hand stalk aren't you??? The push button to the lower right is the rear foglights. :winky: Cheers Dave.
  22. Yep agreed... The figures i quoted above show this very well as my commute to work is 24 miles each way with around all but 2 miles of each way being on motorway. So a 48 mile round trip with 44 miles being motorway. Shows how much extra you can get out of it with regular longish journeys and very few short journeys. :) Another thing to consider is the geography in your area. I'm in Sheffield so you don't go more than 100yds without a bloody big hill to climb up. If you live in a relatively flat area your economy may be slightly better. Cheers Dave.
  23. I must admit 90% of my driving is motorway driving and the current tank is the first proper test i've been able to do what with all the snow we had.... But i'm currently on something like 315 miles done and the needle is between one and two notches below the quarter tank point. I reckon there's around another 50-75 miles left in the tank which if it turns out to be right i'll be happy with getting 360-380 out of a tank. I did put a dose of Millers in with the fuel but it was the first time so i don't expect that to have done anything till maybe another one or two full tank fulls with Millers added. Cheers Dave.
  24. I know this will muddy the waters more but could the new Mercs still have foglights but positioned in the main headlamp housing???? And before anybody says that can't be done the first attached image is of a mk1 Octavia which has factory fit front foglights..... Can't see them??? They are the projector style lenses on the outer edge of the normal reflector headlights. The second image is a mkIV Golf OEM head light housing with front foglight positioned under the indicator. This also does away with the previously mentioned thing about foglights having to be below the centre line of the bumper..... Although can't remember exactly what was said about that at some point during the thread. Just something else to consider. Cheers Dave.
  25. There seems to be a split on when the IS300 timing belt needs doing..... Some say 60k like the IS200 and others say 100k. Personally i called in and asked at Lexus Sheffield before i bought mine and they said 100k. I got my IS300 in November and it had done 61k but had had the belt done at 60k. Lexus Sheffield had told me it was just shy of £1000 for the timing belt service but the receipt i got with the car from the previous owner shows they had it done at a Toyota dealer and paid £600-odd for the belt and full service. Cheers Dave.
