  1. Thanks for the reply. I have gone for a 2004 '04' IS300 Limited Edition in the end and should hopefully be collecting it in the next couple of weeks once i get the log book back for my current car, (Private plate taken off ready for the Lexus so waiting for new logbook with original reg back on). I called in at Lexus Sheffield anyway and asked about the cars history. The guy was very helpfull and he printed off the cars full service history and work logs. It's been serviced by Lexus Leicester and has had nothing serious done. It seems with Lexus that the dealers don't all use the same computer system but luckily Sheffield and Leicester do hence they were able to print me off the full list of everything it's had done to it. I know the VAG group were able to do this from past experience hence me asking whether Lexus could do it also. Cheers Dave.
  2. Thanks for the replies guys. :) Cheers Dave.
  3. I've seen a few posts that list all the bulbs on the IS but they don't seem to mention what bulbs are in the sunvisors. I've got a couple of weeks till i get my 300 and i'm going to replace all the interior lighting with LED's as on my current car along with the rear numberplate lights so am starting to draw up a list of what i want but can't seem to find anything for the visor bulbs. Anyone know what they are please? Cheers Dave.
  4. I forgot about the grill.... This one does indeed have the LE grill. The scratches shouldn't be a problem. The wife saw them first and nearly died but when i had a look even though they are roughly the length of the two passenger doors they are very very fine so should buff straight out. I had a couple of quite deep scratches on one of my past cars that the local ChipsAway guy removed in about 20 minutes or so. The dealer has said that the car is going to be fully valeted anyway before collection and the guy will deal with the scratches at the same time. Called in at Lexus Sheffield today and they printed off the work history on the car for me.... Nothing too drastic from memory it's had the brake discs replaced, tracking issue sorted, headlight levelling sensor/sensors replaced, and an issue with the HU investigated but it doesn't say what they did with that. All this work on the car has been done by Lexus Leicester. Hopefuly going to call in at the local DVLA office in the next couple of days to get my reg taken off my current car so should be a week later i get the logbook back then i can call the dealer and arrange a collection date. :D Cheers Dave.
  5. Yeah i was thinking that myself.... Only thing i could think of was the colour and the black leather with the grey piping??? Or did the 300 LE have the things this has off the sport model??? (Privacy glass, spoiler and metal pedals). Cheers Dave.
  6. Hi all, Well we went looking at IS200's this weekend. Originally had four to look at, Two Limited Editions and two Sports, all either 04 or 54 plates. It started by one of the Ltd Ed's falling through so we went to look at the other one. It was in pretty good condition apart from the fact all four alloys were severely curbed and damaged. The sales place told me they would have them repaired before i got the car though. They really weren't budging on the price though so after my part-ex it was going to be £1000 to pay for the car. So then we went and looked at the first of the two sports but that also had curbed alloys all round and it was in a lot worse condition than the other car so we dropped that from our list. We got back home for a break before checking the last one was still available only to find out it had just been sold so we were left with just the one limited edition car with it's very dodgy alloys. I decided to have another look on autotrader and found another 04 plate limited edition but this time an IS300. I'd never thought about going for a 300 before so did a little looking on here and other forums and came to the conclusion that it was pretty much well thought of so we phoned the dealership in question this morning to check it was still for sale and headed down there. Gave it a once over and it looked in great condition much better than the other and found it also had some options from the sport??? It has privacy glass and the boot lip spoiler from the sport along with the metal pedals (Although does the IS300 limited Edition have these anyway????). Had a drive out and it was just so much better than the IS200 i can't believe i didn't think of it sooner!!! The only downside were some marks along the passenger side where it looks like the previous owner (Only 1 owner from new!!) has driven alongside some shrubs and left about three very fine scratches along the two doors. I had a lot worse scratches removed by chipsaway on a previous car so i'm not too worried especially as the dealer has said they will get them buffed out before collection. Anyhow did a deal and still ended up paying the same £1000 after my part-ex but obviously for an IS300 rather than an IS200 and it also includes a 12 month warranty too, Just in case!!! So, I've just got to call in at the local DVLA office in the morning to get my reg taken off my current car and as soon as i get the logbook back i can pick up the IS. One other thing i noticed was that it didn't have any mats.... Am i right in assuming the mats are the same for the IS200 and IS300??? Just to help me when i look for some replacements. :winky: Cheers Dave.
  7. I'm hopefully going to a couple of sales places to look at a couple of 04 plate IS200 Lim Ed's this weekend.... Poosible bargaining chip???? Cheers Dave.
  8. Hi all, I'm looking at a couple of IS200 Limited Editions at the moment. Both of them are 04 plates and both have done 50k to 55k. Now it seems to be the case that the timing belt should be done at 6 years or 60k whichever is first??? So hopefully they will have been done. But what i wanted to ask was this..... If i contacted Lexus Sheffield would their service desk be able to check the two reg's and see what work had been done on the cars by Lexus dealers in the UK??? I ask because i know VW group dealers can do this as i've used been told it by my last two dealers (one VW and my current Skoda dealer). Also other than the timing belt is there anything else i should be checking has been done etc.... when i go to look at them both. Cheers Dave.
  9. Hi all, Well i thought i'd get back on here and see if my old login still worked as i may very well be rejoining the IS fold soon. We had a 2003 IS200 Sport with aero pack a few years ago till around 2006 when we traded it in for another car. We've had another two cars since then but i'm looking at going from my current small car back to a large car again and was looking at used cars when i noticed how very nicely priced the IS200's were now going for!!! :) I've got a couple highlighted to look at but the leader so far is a tidy looking 04 plate IS200 Limited Edition. Hopefully if it's still around in a few days and i can work out a good part-ex deal for my car i think i'll take the plunge and go for it. Are there any issues or problems that have come to light in the last four years or so since we had our last IS back in 2006 so i can check for them if/when i do go to look at any IS's?? Any advice would be greatly appreciated and hopefully be back on here regularly pretty soon. Cheers Dave.
  10. Aido wrote................. Do you mean on the Polo??? If so there aren't any drums. As it's the GTi it's the only Polo that has all-round discs. It's also the only version of Polo to come with BBS alloys, Climate Control and xenons to name a few of the stuff fitted by VW to the car. We both love to drive either car as they both have their good points....The IS for long cruising runs and the Polo for owt else cos it's like s**t off a shovel compared to the IS. Quite a rare car as they only made them for a couple of years (W reg to 51 reg)but there are a few of 'em about just look out for the xenons as it's the usual give-away of a GTi. Plus they only come in Black, Red or Silver. As for the colours of calipers listed i only put the colours that my missus was choosing from and she didn't like the idea of black as she wanted them to stand out a little. Cheers Dave.
  11. Hi all, My better half fancies having the Brake Calipers painted on her IS200 Sport. Trouble is she can't decide which colour to have 'em. The car is black so the options i thought of are................... Red Blue Yellow Green Silver What's everyone think i reckon red myself but thats cos my VW Polo GTi comes with them already painted red so i'm used to the colour etc...... Cheers Dave.
  12. We've just had a similar problem though didn't need a new bumper.......... Looks like someone has bumped up against our rear bumper of the IS and the clips which hold the bumper / styling kit onto the bodywork under the wheel-arch had broken. Anyhow we took it into Lexus Sheffield and they had a look. They managed to rebolt the bumper on the nearside but had to fit a new dust insert in the off-side wheelarch and reconnected the bumper. charged 25 quid i think for the part and fitting. Cheers Dave.
  13. I walked straight into the Sheffield Toyota dealer and picked one up Think it was about a fiver......Although here in Sheffield all the Lexus work / spares / service...... is done in the Toyota dealers across the road from the Lexus Sheffield place. But your local Toyota dealer may be a back-up plan. Cheers Dave
  14. Had a look in the boot and under the boot floor with the spare and no sign of any extra centre caps. The one's that the dealer gave us were in sealed plastic bags as though they were just new from the spares dept etc..... Fitted them last night and they look a hundred times better than the plain one's that were on the wheels before. Cheers Dave.
  15. Thanks for the reply chrispy....... We had to drive past Lexus Sheffield today so we called off to ask them how much they would be and why we hadn't got them fitted anyway. We were told that the 18" wheels don't have them fitted only the 17" at which point we pointed out that there was an IS200 Sport in their carpark with the aero package and 18" wheels which had the lexus covers on. They went away to their body shop to ask if they had any in stock and came back with a set of four for nowt!!!! So out we walked with free set of 4 lexus badge covers. So anyhow it would appear that officially the 18" 6 spoke wheels just have the plain centre caps but the 17" 5 spoke wheels have the lexus badge centre caps. As far as i know thats now two things that you actually lose by upgrading to the higher spec car.....Headlight washers being the other i know of. Cheers Dave.
  16. Aye up all, MY other half has a 2003 IS200 Sport with the Aero Pack fitted which included the 18" 6 spoke alloys. The centre caps on the alloys are just plain but i've seen a couple of other sports, with the same wheels, that have proper Lexus centre caps with the Lexus logo on them. I just wondered if anybody had a rough idea how much these type were as she fancies having a set with the logo's on rather than the plain one's she has now. Cheers David.
  17. Pair of the 4LED bulbs arrived yesterday.....too sunny today to try in daylight though so will try them later when its dark........ If they don't seem too bright i'll try a set of the 6LED bulbs instead. Also fitting them to my Polo seems a no go as it looks like the whole headlight unit is sealed and requires taking to bits to even replace a sidelight or mainbeam bulb!!!!! I can understand the part of the unit containing the xenon unit but the mainbeam / sidelight unit too!!! The manual just advises you to get a dealer to swap the bulbs or seek advice before doing it yourself.....Bloomin Germans :P Anyhow if anyone can post a pic of the 6LED versions i would appreciate it so i can compare them to the 4LED's i will be fitting to the IS later. Cheers Dave.
  18. Cheers for that Mooranger. I've just bought a pair of the 4LED type off e-bay.....The ones linked by someone further up this post...... There are also some 6LED one's too so i may get those too. Just looked at the position of the sidelight bulbs on mi Polo and it looks like it'll be a bugger to fit 'em but i'll have a go. Cheers Dave.
  19. Has anybody got any pics of what these look like fitted??? I'm thinking of getting a couple of sets, one for my missus's IS200 and the other for my Polo GTi....should look pretty nice on the Polo alongside the xenons. Cheers Dave.
  20. My Polo has xenons as standard....xenon's as in the ones that are behind thick round lenses....like BMW's or Merc's etc....... (Don't think they're HID's are they??) It's the only Polo in the range that gets them as standard kit. It's the easy way to spot a GTi just look for the xenons. The car she had before the IS was an MG ZS which had Halfords Laser Blue bulbs fitted. I'm looking for something that gives a xenon style light but is still quite bright on the road too and not too expensive either. Thats why i thought of the BlueVision when i saw them on the Philips site. I know the bluer bulbs don't give out as much light as the normal one's....Just trying to find a balance between the two. Cheers Dave
  21. Cheers Colin....I think i'll try the Philips BlueVision bulbs listed on their website. I guess i'll just have to live the differance you get after driving a car with xenons. I must admit i never thought i'd say it but i don't think i'd buy another car that doesn't have xenons.... I'll have to get mi other 'alf to get something with xenons when she gets rid of the IS in a few years. Cheers Dave.
  22. Hi all, This is my first post on the forum. I have tried to find the info i need via searching but i ain't had much look so i apologise if the info i need is already on this forum. I have a couple of questions about headlights on the IS200 Sport. We have just purchased an 03 reg IS200 sport and i was toying with putting some PIAA bulbs in to replace the standard one's. I was looking at either the super whites or the xtreme whites. But i noticed on one website that the xtreme's were not road legal. Is this correct??? I run a VW Polo GTi which has xenons as standard and when i get in the Lexus the differance is very noticable. I don't want to start spending silly money so wondered what the above mentioned bulbs were like. Also does anybody have any pics of what the lights look like when on??? One other thing i saw some demon eyes on e-bay and wondered how easy they were to fit.....I'm no expert so is it a big job that a novicy kinda person can handle or only something for handy person to try?? Cheers Dave.
