  1. Stu dont get me wrong im on your side, but i must say that there is not one statement in the highway code to suggest any priorities in those situations. That is why i stated that you were both at a giveway so you are both responsible for your own actions.Granted the other driver has more responsibilty when emerging that is because they have to cross the path of one carridgeway first before they get to your side.Check highway code this will back me up.Page 39 section 148.Please check the highway code and try and find your situation,it doesnt have it!thats why i think it will be 50/50.P.S nobody teaches driving instructors, people are taught to become a driving instructor. That is what i am.Cardington Grade 6 teacher trainer. You will be supprised how many drivers i have taught to become a driving instructor think that if you are turning left <minor to major>that they have priority over the car in the opposite junction. It is simply not true and it does not state this in the highway code.I am simply discussing a point of law and not your exact situation as i wasnt there stu,the words <RIGHT OF WAY OR PRIORITIES>has to be used carefully in the highway code, that is why they wont put their head on the block and state this in your situation. If it as you said says THE PERSON THAT DOES NOT HAVE TO CROSS A CARRAGEWAY<i.e TURN LEFT>HAS THE RIGHT OF WAY in the highway code i will give you my biggest apology stu.
  2. Hi stu,ive been a driving instructor for 9 years and my bet is it will end up 50/50.you were both at a give way, that means you must be aware of each other and no one has priority.I see what you mean about she is turning right and your turning left, but it still stands.......we in this country tend to have a gentlemans agreement where whoever is moving first<creeping>gets the priority, but thats not law.In her defence she had to travel further than you and inorder for her to hit you at that point ,it seems that she might of moved first inorder for her to reach and hit you.Just my oppinion stu,im teaching every day and have to make my pupils aware of this fact.I do know how insurance litigation works and things can go in different ways.Good luck KELL
  3. Ok...this is how it goes if you want to take your alternator off your gs mk1.Take the air scoop off the air box, loosen the cowling from around the rad fan and take off the 4 nuts that hold the fan too the shaft<this i found is very important because it allows the fan to be pushed towards the front of the car and it will then give you much needed space to get your spanners too the nuts holding the alt in place especially the bottom nut and thread>the bottom nut and thread has to be undone blind..Disconnect the 2 wires.. 1 multi plug and 1 nut,the top bolt on the alt is easy the bottom one is the hard part. With the bottom one you have to first take the nut off then you have to take the thread out,you will notice the end of the thread you can see has a torx type end to it <male>use a suitable tool,i use a very small socket, then you withdraw the whole thread. The alt will not swivel its not designed to,you have to use a lever on the belt tensioner to loosen the belt off the pully on the alt, once you have done this the alt can then be removed out of the top of the bay.It took me 2hrs to sus this but it should only take half an hour.My car has done 80,000 miles with lights on day and night so you might want to take note just incase your alt goes.Kell :winky:
  4. I must admit,my car is a 94 model and ive had it from new and all i had to do in that time is replace the near side front caliper,no specialist tools for that job.
  5. Its not that mudzs,my spanners are for 40tonne trucks dating back from the 70s,time to nip to halford i think for a decent sized ratchet set............Anyway thanks mudzs your info is great...kell :winky:

  13. Hello peeps,i got into my car this morning and after starting the car some warning lights didnt go out as normal, oil, parking brake, battery, blown bulb, windscreen washer, all remained on,this has never happened before.I checked all items i was warned about and all were ok.Has this happened to you, what do i do before i get stiched up from lexus liverpool. Thanks KELL
  14. Yes Colin the lexus price did include the oil cooler, after talking to a witter towbar specialist they said that the oil cooler was not really needed unless i was going to the Saharah!!.The car seems to be doing ok in our mild climate.I have noticed some pinking under load though.Mike
  15. I got a detachable towbar from Chester towbars £400 fitted and no cutting. It took them 1.2 hours to fit.Lexus wanted £1300 for the same thing.
  16. The warning light is letting you know that one of your brakelights has blown. The replacement on the mk1 is of the capless type.Im not sure what it is for the mk2.kell
  17. My lex got the shakes just after a lexus service, after a few weeks i got fed up with it and decided to explore. It turned out to be a missing wheel nut.The only people to touch them is GUESS.
  18. Randy, have you had a word with any lexus engineers yet?I would be interested to know one in the Liverpool area who could do work for me on the side.kell
  19. Hi Taspland, what i can tell you is on the uk spec car,the PWR switch when switched on followed by a light on the dash,it will hold your car in its gears for a longer period rather than changing gear at lower revs.
  20. Hi derek and welcome. The dome is the pickup for your remote central locking. The seat squab! do you mean the centre arm rest?it doesnt have a catch, cant help there. The black metal plate is to be made up into a triangle to use as a chock to chock one of your wheels when you are jacking your car up.Kell
  21. Hello,I have a problem on my 94 GS300 and it only happens when the car is in hot weather<so not often then> :P .Its as if the front doors expand in the heat.Where the vertical black edges meet when opening and closing they catch each other. This has been a problem from day one of purchase 10 years ago but never got round to getting it sorted under warranty.I hope iv explaned it ok.Does anyone else suffer from this.P.S the car has never been bumped.kell
  22. The same happened to me the other day,Ive got a halfords just around the corner.Without taking the bulb out and taking it into the shop with me i told them i needed a brake light bulb for my gs300.They pointed to the little book on the shelf with the bulbs and in the book it says that i need the same type as the rear fog light. This bulb has a metal bayonet type fitment.WRONG after takin the cluster out it turns out the brake light bulb is of the capless type.Is yours the same or are their books wrong?kell
  23. Thanks John, yes i would love to measure it but it seems to have fallen off,it was secured by those stickey pads.I want to make sure before i order online.kell
  24. Can anyone tell me the size of the rear number plate of my mk1 gs300,i know its deeper than the front plate but by how much??I need to order one on line and need the exact size.Cheers
