  1. Many thanks to all who replied. I'll be arranging a flush and oil change very soon!
  2. When I start the IS 250* in the morning, I often (but not always) hear a loud rattle from the engine which lasts only a second or two. My initial thought was low oil but when I checked, it's right up to the mark and clean, although it hasn't had a recent oil service. I'd appreciate any educated thoughts on the cause that other members might have. *2007 - 67K
  3. Many thanks to everyone who responded - what a team! There should be enough there to keep me busy for a little while and I'll let you know the outcome.
  4. What I need is a wiring diagram for the rear "clearance warning system". Monacle. Unfortunately, I don't think that's referred on any of these sheets. Maybe elsewhere?...
  5. Just the rear sensors, johnatg. Confusingly, my Lexus manual describes it all as 'parking assist' whatever level of sensors/camera is fitted).
  6. IS 250 SE - 2007. Ever since I bought the car, the parking assist hasn't worked. I removed the LH boot floor tray to investigate and found a tangle of wire underneath with 3M type connectors and an unconnected component that looks like an alarm/sounder. (haven't yet removed the LH vertical trim panel to get to the ECU.) This all looks like an amateur and unsuccessful attempt at repair. Can anyone point me to a wiring diagram covering the rear parking assist for this model?
  7. madasahatter - that's great! Many thanks - but where does it go and how?
  8. Rear parking sensors have never worked since I've owned the car. I always assumed they'd been turned off by the dealer at the previous owner's request. Lexus garage says no - fault is with the reversing aid ECU and buzzer. Say both need replacing at a fitted cost of about £600. Questions: can anyone say where these items are located, whether fitting is easy or difficult, whether they're available as aftermarket items and at what cost?
  9. Sounds like the way to go - but there seems to be dozens of kits available (most of them on a well-known auction site), some of them of dubious provenance. Can anyone, from personal experience, suggest a good 5000k kit/retailer? Ishaq?
  10. Considering the fact that 'SE' stands for 'Special Equipment' I'm surprised that any manufacturer would even consider applying this acronym to its lowest spec. model. Had I known this, I would not have bought the car - as it is, I'm now seriously looking at selling it. Many thanks to all who responded.
  11. Very impressed with my '08 Lexus 250 SE - quiet (mainly what I was most looking for), nimble, great engine and comfortable. There are a few puzzling things about it though: the headlights are almost unbelievably dim (we don't even use it at night!) and how Lexus, claiming to be a top quality brand, could omit something so basic as headlight washers from an SE version almost beggars belief.
  12. I have exactly the same problem as Stagone and would appreciate any advice: 2008 (57) IS 250 SE. Have the sensors (or what looks very much like them!) on the rear bumper only - satellite buttons show only revs and speed indication. They may be automatic but upon reversing against anything - like a wall - nothing happens! Is there a fuse to check, maybe?
