  1. Toyotatech charged me 14+vat last week (genuine filter from Lexus Guildford)
  2. Do you not need to protect a diamond cut surface? Plus, only so many 'cuts' you can perform, so I understand Lacquer over diamond cut usually results in the 'worm' effect, fine lines due to moisture breaching the lacquered protecting.
  3. Correct Denis, kyb shocks and Kilen springs. i think the front is too high but as you say that could be factory ride height.
  4. Well it won’t be custom now as they have a template made from my mats. will need to check but I’m thinking 90-100 tops
  5. So car returned and have done 150 motorway miles today. The ride quality feels the same, it’s very very slightly firmer but something i’d expect given any new shocks fitted and compared with 20yr old shocks. I would expect the same from new Lexus shocks being fitted. The ride height has increased, much to my dismay! I can now get 4 vertical fingers between arch and tyre, Still, I’d rather go with decent ride quality than aesthetics, so happy for this trade off, especially as the springs came free with the car. i’ll report back after a few more miles, but they feel fine and the springs felt good around some local roundabouts taken at speed. Brake pedal feel is also much improved after new discs and pad, removing the previous slight amount of play before they took effect. Happy bunny so far.
  6. I’ve got a thread on here somewhere - I had some made up from original Lexus mat templates so fit is excellent in my mk4
  7. Bought some used rear calipers off eBay for £60; £150 to get refurbed. Will send them off shortly, won’t be installed as part of this work.
  8. Would you believe Royal Mail have lost the items to be returned, so the vendor won’t process the refund. Ebay/PayPal case opened.
  9. Attention has turned to the front brakes which had a slight shimmy on application. New genuine Lexus discs going on with Mintex pads. Paul’s attention to detail means the hubs get a decent rub down first. I’ve been impressed with Paul’s attitude and thoroughness and will definitely use him again.
  10. Sides should be the same - stick your reg in the Halfords site, it should confirm
  11. W5W for the side http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/VehicleProductGuidedSalesCmd?action=getProducts&storeId=10001&categoryId=165538&bikeCategoryId=328752&catalogId=10151&langId=-1&vrn=s101ohn&bulbTypeName=all&bulbTypeValue=all&bulbType=all&findPartsVRN=Go&cm_re=Pillar+Pages-_-content1-_-Bulbs
  12. Use a plastic trim removal tool on either leading or trailing edge - there is a tab on the indicator body that you need to push in. It then just lifts out.
  13. Anything for you here Phil: http://lexus-doc(blocked word)/ileaf/lex98rm/98rmsour/1998/98ls400r/bo/readoo/disa.pdf http://lexus-doc(blocked word)/ileaf/lex98rm/98rmsour/1998/98ls400r/bo/readoo/comp.pdf http://lexus-doc(blocked word)/RepairManual1998.php
  14. If you use Chrome or Firefox, there is an extension available to fix this - search for “Photobucket fix extension” or similar. Works for me
  15. I think he means the item Steve has pictured above Im guessing the slider pin isn’t coming out easily and/or has damaged the bracket. More cost I can do without
  16. Gents, Paul (Toyotatech) is looking at the brakes on my mk4 whilst he has the car. On the rear, he said “he found one slider on each rear Caliper so I need pads, discs and calipers with pad carriers” what are sliders and pad carriers? Assuming something is broken/missing if he thinks I need new rear calipers? Does anyone have a source for new/refurbed calipers? thanks all
  17. I’ve read genuine Lexus items are made by KYB, but I think they’ll have softer valving. The aftermarket KYBs are a notch firmer, so I’ve read.
  18. New rear shocks arrived today - great service from RockAuto - arrived in 4 days, without customs delay as Fedex calculate this upfront and add to the bill. Been a while since I added something Made in Japan to a car
  19. Worth having a good poke around once on a ramp - they hide rust pretty well in the sills. Do make sure all loose underseal is removed before applying Dinitrol over the top, else you’ll just make the problem worse. you may have read my broken spring thread, thankfully upon inspection it is just coil springs that were corroded/broken, all other suspension components appear okay.
  20. With the amount of interest in these cars on pistonheads, you should create a thread on there under the “seeking advice” banner.
  21. Maybe just me but I wouldn’t suggest a new members car had possibly been flooded previously. Apart from a few years, MOTs history is pretty good.
