I’m cursed .... The feckwits at the next supplier of rear shocks sent me the wrong items, and apparently can’t send me the correct shocks until I return the ones I’ve received. I’ll go through the refund process but have decided to order through rockauto who are cheaper and estimate delivery on Friday. Will brexit make US orders more expensive, as I’m bored of shyte service from UK companies.

Pic of one of the removed front springs - I thought it was only the rears that we’re broken! Rest of the suspension components apparently showing no signs of unwanted movement, so will be retained. Ive extended the job to include fluid changes so have requested engine oil/filter, PAS and gearbox fluid drain and refill.

I had to cancel the Amazon order due to their inaccurate stock system - they weren’t actually in stock when I hit buy, even though it said they were. ive now ordered (I hope) the same rear kyb shocks from eBay at a similar price. Car was dropped off with Paul on Saturday, he’s looking to make a start on the front whilst we await the rear shocks. I’ve asked him to have a good look at all suspension components and advise/replace as necessary.

Lovely ls400

Nice, black doesn’t seem to suit LS400 as it does the Merc of this era, even though they are similarly proportioned. IMHO, 4-5k tops for that car? -
Hi Phil - i tried BC already - they said even their softest spring would not be as comfortable as standard, so i've backed off that route. I may investigate further, but i have all but KYB rear shocks sat in storage at present. I guess new KYB shocks will feel stiffer than 107k standard shocks, so that may not be a valid consideration.

I've read Moog could be anything - German, Chinese, Turkish, Canadian....and varying levels of quality. Paul (toyotatech) believes the current strut mounts will be reusable, will see on removal. I'm finding lots of parts are becoming NLA - Sachs/Boge's catalog for our cars is now non-existent, KYB similar in terms of availability (at least here in the UK), so Lexus may be the only source shortly.

These are the Kilen springs and the 2x front KYB shocks going on my mk4 - just ordered 2x rear KYB shocks at £70 each inc vat from Amazon : https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B005H2AC2C/ref=pe_3187911_185740111_TE_item Need to find a source of top mounts, the genuine Lexus ones are £175+vat from Guildford. Altogether, for genuine Lexus shocks, springs, top mounts, and spring insulators, the bill was over £2k, so I’m sticking to aftermarket! If mine was a mint example with full LSH, low owners etc, I’d contemplate fitting genuine parts. Planning on using Toyotatech in guildford to do the fitting. £50/Hr + vat labour is more palatable than Lexus £142+vat

Are the prices on this link fairly accurate? -

I actually prefer a lower ride height, maybe 10mm higher than the broken rear pic above, but I can’t find lowered springs anywhere for these cars - i thought i had an option of -30mm H&R springs from the US, but find these are NLA as of March 2017 - bugger Aside from coilovers, anyone aware of lowered springs for the Mk4? Anyone had bespoke items made up?

Pic before - sorry, not the best You get maybe two vertical fingers in between arch and tyre - not a single finger gap now Note also the increased arch-tyre gap at the front - resulting in negative camber (top of tyre sits further out than the bottom of the tyre when looking at the front of the car)

Morning all, i discovered this yesterday - broken rear springs? I actually drove for an hour at motorway speeds without realising, as the boot was full, so thought it was just loaded up i have a set of new Kilen springs in storage which i may get fitted; depends if the garage of choice is happy to fit customer supplied parts. i also have a pair new KYB front struts, with the same caveat. Pic of the car with an empty boot:
