Mods ...... please delete if not allowed BUT as you will see I'm giving away four new tires. Sold my F-sport LS460 14 plate today. I have a full set of four nearly new Summer tires stacked in the garage. They are 245/45R19 ER33 XZ 102Y tires. Only a few hundred miles on them. So I'm paying forward Karma. USE IPOD TOUCH TO CONTROL INTEGRATION KIT I had lexus southend fit an Ipod integration kit into a 06 Rx350 SE with Ice (and mark levinson) for about £200 as part of a service. They put the ipod connector cable in the glove compartment so that the ipod is out of view. The sound quality is much better than any FM tuner solution and indistinguishable from a CD played from the head unit. Whilst the head unit and steering wheel can forward and advance a track and can forward advance a playlist (up to a maximum of six) the BIG problem is that you can not select tracks on the Ipod as all you can see on the ipod screen is a lexus brand. Bummer. 13,000 songs on my ipod classic and no way to find a favorite song direct !! The good news..... I also have an ipod touch and found this neat work around. If you connect the ipod touch to the lexus integration kit, the ipoT screen says accessory connected but does not show the lexus logo. You can still play songs via the headunit, steering wheel as before BUT..... ...If you press the home button on the ipoT ..... you can select playlists/tracks etc in the normal ipod way using the ipoT screen for navigation to the track that you want. When you play a track on the ipoT the sound WILL play through the Lexus sterio. You can see what you are selecting - even using coverflow for example. The downside is that the headunit/steering wheel controls of the ipod stop working unit you press the disc button twice on the headunit. This then reverts to the standard (non-navigatable/random) control of the ipod using the playlist that you'd most recently been playing. I have bought the Griffin Tuneflex which has a passthrough ipod dock connector (into which I can plug the lexus dock connector) and flexible neck which I can use to position the ipot Chuffed. I will play with the settings (to see if I can get the headunit back working with the IPOT) and post a pic. Regards jay

I had 04 Rx300 SE-L ... run it to 21k on the clock. I traded in for 56 Rx350 SE+NAV+free Ice (not lexus brand ...insisted on Alpine DVD+Screens in back)...much better motor....bought a pre-registered in Dec with 96 miles on the clock and saved a packet 'cause they needed the sales figures up. Don't bother paying for air suspension....total gimic....and you don't feel the few grand difference. Don't bother paying for ICE...but take it if it's free !! My suggestion is test drive the 350 and put your foot down (you had an IS afterall and want some fun) ....if you don't smile like a 16 year old (as I did) then move on to something else. Have fun. Has anyone heard of this button failing? In the 18 months since getting the SE-L I've pushed this button about six times and until this morning an "ECT snow" indicator lit up on the dashboard and gear changes became muted but a lot smoother. Any ideas what's up and why it's stopped today of all days? Regards Jay p.s. When things break I often ask myself what's changed since the last time it worked? Well today it actually snowed...maybe that's it or maybe it's a Japanese psychological torture..the snow button won't work when it actually snows???

First Alternative have insured me for less than £300 (36m+wife with 4yrs NCB+ 1 recent accident). Admiral were my previous insurer but they wanted over £800 for a 10 month policy. J

I need to fit a decent hands free kit to RX 300 SE-L thinking about the new bluetooth kit from parrot....available from expansys for £144.45 http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?code=CK3100. Question: how do I safely remove the mark levinson stereo to get at the terminals? Regards Jay

Guys, Thanks all for the guidance and separate emails. You're right....got to go for the sat nav/reverse parking... I had a good chat with the v helpful Matt at Lexus Hadleigh who had the good grace to let me talk myself into ordering the SEL....and even at this late stage it will be ready on Saturday. I'm beginning to see the Lexus difference in terms of service ..... nothing's too much trouble. Thanks for the best wishes everyone. A few questions that I couldn't answer from the FAQs. I've taken the plunge and will pick up an RX300 SE in Brechin Slate/Oakham next Saturday. Getting the supaguard inside and out to protect paint/leather. Any views on this combo? The SE-L was just out of reach. I decided not to go for Sat Nav/reverse camera at the time but now having second thoughts. Does the unit have to be factory fitted? I've seen an old unit on ebay which makes me optimistically think that the dealership can slot one in even at this late stage...Even though it may cost me circa £2500 ish. Additionally, does anyone have a rough price on the ruberided boot liner. Any other favourite must have's that you guyd might recomend? btw. Very helpful site. Very useful tips. Cheers Jay
