  1. Hi, wondering if anyone is running all season tyres on their IS? Not going to be running separate winter tyres but when my factory set need replacing I'd consider all season if anyone has found any or would recommend?
  2. I believe the government subsidy is £1,500 so if your car is worth any more than this you are better off selling it privately. The rest of the discount is just marketing nonsense where more expensive cars have a bigger discount. I agree with earlier posts, the government should pay you £1500/£2000 to take your old motor to the scrapie, bypass the auto makers and get some of the worst polluting vehicles off the road - and I mean the worst, not your mint 2009 Lexus 250 with 50k on it 😂
  3. I have a 2014 Gen 3 IS250, It has covered 25k miles in 3.5 years - booked it in for a service and they did the 40k major service on it (it's 4th service). In checking the computer they have set the next service at 9k miles rather than 10k - any idea why this would be the case?
  4. "but as this is the last 'normal' V6 Lexus sold in the UK, I intend to keep it a while" you realise there is a Gen 3 IS250?
  5. Check out the 20k BMW, Audi, Merc oil changes on YouTube - black sludge. I don't believe that oil is meant to last that long. I had my oil tested at a lab (out of interest) after the first 10k in my Audi a few years back and they said it needed changing, although the computer said it could run for another 9k. some good advice above although still wanting to understand more about the "essential" servicing for older cars (older than 5 years) which would bring the cost down quite a bit - does this include spark plugs, air filters and other expensive items on the 40/60/80k standard services - Id imagine they have to, therefore much better value at £165 for interim and £345 for major services - personally I don't mind paying that. In fact the major service could be a real bargain for the 60k/120k where the plugs need to be changed. Will probably take it to an independent garage for brakes etc though.
  6. Unfortunately that's the way it is, service costs do fall after 5 years of age as part of the essential plan - which I believe is the same as the normal service schedule but waiting for confirmation.
  7. I bought my IS at 3 years old - got a years warranty plus I paid for an extra 2 years. Looks like the website has been corrected. id like to know what the difference is between normal and essential services - I.e. does it include spark plugs at 60k?
  8. These cars are always on lease companies Top 10 offers. I've been surprised at how cheap they are to lease but never really fancied one.
  9. Flat battery again! I've played my face to the garage and complained, having reported the issue previously and being fobbed off this is unacceptable. Lexus tested the battery (fully... finally) and found it wasn't holding the correct voltage (12.2v) New car battery supplied free of charge after playing my face :) Car is 3.5 years old but I'm aware it has little use in its second year as the owner lived abroad. Always suspected the battery was the issue.
  10. Can you confirm whether the Lexus service includes this or is it something that's overlooked in their service schedule?
  11. Called Lexus this morning, they said the battery was tested and is fine, it was just low when they checked it and they put it on charge. They say the cars electrics were tested and are also fine (no drain, alternator working correctly). Doesnt make any sense to me, I had driven the car 3000 in the past month so it's had daily use and some really long runs. I think there is still a fault but I can't prove it. May try and leave it for 10 days while I'm off work next week and see if it runs flat (like it did last time). Any ideas what else it could be?
  12. Really, I have the 250 so it seems to be a £60 part as there's none of the start/stop rubbish on this model which require special batteries. Will be calling tomorrow to see what they say.
  13. The US preferred measurement for distance is kilometres not miles so 100k for spark plugs probably means km = 60k miles.
  14. Bought a Gen 3 2014 IS250 in January from Lexus. Covered 15k miles. In its 3rd year it only covered a few hundred miles, was probably sat around a lot and battery left to run flat. No issues with daily use for months then our baby was due so I didn't use it much for 3 weeks, hadn't started it in a week and it was flat. Have used it regularly since, no issues. It went in for a service this week and the notes say - "slow battery recharge". Need to call them on Monday to find out. Should this be covered under warranty or at least good will, I reported the issue to them when it happened in June but never heard back, despite Lexus UK saying they would arrange a free health check.
  15. Having just had a the 40k service done at 25k miles it appears to be based on whatever comes sooner - years or mileage. my car is 3.5 years old and had an interim service last time, therefore it was the £485 4 yr / 40k this time around. I would suggest the 60k / 6 year is the same.
  16. Having come from Audi's with BOSE and B&O systems the ML in the Lexus if far superior, great quality sound and so loud - took me a while to realise there was a setting that was adjusting the volume in accordance with speed, once I turned that off the system is dynamite!!!
  17. I'd also be very greatful if someone can email me the firmware update: blakehughespersonal@gmail.com or upload it somewhere so we can all use it.
  18. Interesting, I drive my Gen 3 IS250 in eco 99% of the time, I find it quite punchy. Left it in normal by mistake a few times and wondered what was going on with my mpg. Eco makes a huge difference.
  19. Must be electric motor, my Gen 3 250 doesn't make this sound.
  20. In my experience fuel economy increases after the first 10k miles and a service. daft question but you're definitely running in eco mode? Makes a huge difference in my 250.
  21. Car is due in for its first service very soon, just wondering do Lexus usually offer a collect + return service i.e. will they come and collect the car from my home?
  22. Interesting as it appears the 250 is faster than the 300h 0-60 (8.2 secs vs 7.6 secs), although there are lots of varying numbers out there. i find the instant pull of the 250 quite impressive however it does disappoint on pull given it's a v6. I really wanted the 350 :(
