  1. Glad you got a 250 as I do cringe when new posters turn up and say they have got a great looking IS220D!, it may be great looking but stand by for grief! Best of luck with your 250 ( you won’t need luck with one of the most reliable cars out there!) As for trying to change infomation systems between models then I believe it is quite involved and not straightforward. You say you have the ‘Older’ style centre dash, do you mean the non-Sat nav/touch screen version? like this….. oh yes and best colour😀
  2. IIRC the gasket seals are of the silicon type so unless actually damaged ( remove them carefully) they should be reusable
  3. Have you seen the vids on youToob of the spark plug renewal for the 250?, looks perfectly doable ‘in the street’ as you say.
  4. Author was a Paul Hudson, motoring editor for the Telegraph. link here. https://apple.news/A2hOVv5M-QuyKXzHMkX1amA
  5. I came across this ( finger on the pulse reporting on E10!) article in the Telegraph today ( not that I am an avid reader) but I am trying to get to the basis of the statement in the middle paragraph, namely ‘ unfounded’ anyone anything to add on this?
  6. I live on a slope also and have to check my oil level when I go to a fuel station and car is dead level. note: I check it After I have filled and paid so it gives time for oil to settle, can’t say I have ever seen anyone else open their bonnet in a fuel station for years! I expect plenty would not even know how too🙄open the bonnet that is, let alone check the engine oil level!
  7. Link has expired…. Did Anyone grab any screenshots of damage to post for future ref?
  8. Pressing the Unlock button on the remote for 3 seconds can ( if programmed in LPS) roll down all windows & Moonroof ( if fitted) and consequently pressing Lock button for 3 seconds will Close windows/ moonroof. LPS ( Lexus Personal Settings ) can be set by Dealer at Service time or by using TechStream.
  9. Very rare problem indeed and I would deffo go with a used part ( a new one will be ££££’s if available!) where in the world has this car been living/used for this to occur? And is it fatal rust damage ( over zealous garage inspection) or just surface rust that could be treated to prevent fatal damage?
  10. Lock your dog in a boot of a car for 10 mins and lock your wife in a car for 10 mins and then see who is actually pleased to see you!
  11. HMP…..not the end of the world… No food bills No energy Bills No Poll Tax But no entitlement to Vote in Elections 🙄
  12. 1 litre of oil consumption allowable every 1,000 Km ( 600 Miles!) before the engine is out of Manufacture Specification's…..but in UK car will prob fail HC test at MOT time long before this!!!! But engine (car) will function quite satisfactory for a good while longer without doubt. Source of info ( after being challenged on a different forum all my posts will contain official source of facts🙄)
  13. “A minute to pop them out” 😳 Yes when you can actually See them that is🙄
  14. Apparently there are multiple ways of configuring the ignition firing order on a V8 and each has a slightly different sound characteristic! I’m not sure but I bet Lexus don’t use the same order as Chevy for instance. standing by to be advised……..👍
  15. As I have said before ‘humans love coincidence’ You may very well have Two separate problems and this may fog your fault finding logic as people perceive there only to be One thing wrong that needs fixing when presented with multiple symptoms.
  16. It all adds up…… P0420 & P0430,EML, lambda issue and exhaust leak. see post no 8 here
  17. My sons 335 BMW has a charging system that requires the actual size, Ah and CCA to be input into car via OBD software as the system is so precise that it increases the amount of charge as the battery ages and if not coded then a New battery when fitted will be over-charged and not last very long.
  18. So if an external source is increasing the charge of the battery ( the CTek ) directly onto the terminals, then the cars monitoring system is ‘just’ going to see a better battery and as this external source of charge never actually went through the cars charging/monitoring system then what are the possible implications? ( apart from a better state of charge)
  19. So Mr Trendizzle, Question for you, In your profile it states that your IS250 is a 2007, and as such, according to on-line E10 comparability checking is should Not use E10, Is this correct and are you actually using E10 in your Car regularly?
  20. The 6 year/60,000 mile point I think is to ensure emissions are kept to a minimum, the plugs themselves are usually fine for 100,000 ( in a properly functioning engine that is…ie no excess oil ingress into combustion chambers)
  21. The cars ‘battery monitoring system’ ( if fitted ) would only be in operation when ignition is On/engine running ie alternator is actually outputting. So if a CTek is fitted and car is Off then no monitoring is happening.
  22. ‘What he said’ 👍 prob not gonna change mine (unless reason to) until 100,000 miles as they were done at the 6 year from new point ( 22,000 miles then) and car is on 48,000 miles now 9 years later, the Time interval for plug change is a weird one if you ask me! If they ain’t being used then they ain’t gonna wear out! standing by for fallout on that last statement 🤔
