Ive already posted this on the is250/220 sub but no reply maybe ill have more luck here, Well lads, my friend has recently bought an is220d, first mod he is doing is changing the stock 16" rims. He found these for sale on facebook but they don't match up with what is on the basic wheel guide on here, Will he run into any sort of problems do ye think other than rolling the arches?

Yeah i think your right since there no mention in the brochure. Ha so what are the biggest common faults with these cars? My friend is going to look at one next week, 08 62,xxx miles, 2 owners, 2 years nct(mot) with full lexus service history, seems to be basic spec but i havent really checked, would you say stay away or its worth a look?

Interesting, i read earlier that the sport is220 had a different ratio gearbox so it had better take off than a standard 220

Well lads, anyone have a link for a sale brochure for a '08 220d, all i can find online is the 250 http://www.motorologist.com/wp-content/uploads/2008-Lexus-IS-brochure.pdf, yeah there probably isn't much in the differnce but the 250 dosent list the 'sport' package the diesel comes with. Thanks.

wow lads, i hadn't checked on this, thanks for the replies. The main reason my friend wants to go for the 220d is because of tax and fuel cost in ireland. A 220d registered after july 08 has tax at €570 whereas before july 08 it is €1080. Diesel €1.16/l Petrol is €1.30/l Myself i will be getting a 250, (personal dislike of diesels) I will pass on what you guys have said to him, he will probably still get a 220d, but at least i have it in his head to get one with a full lexus service history.

Well lads, i know this has probably been covered before so forgive me if it has.My friend is going looking at a 220d at the weekend and im thinking of getting 1 in the not too far future. The car he is looking at is a 2008 with 123,xxx miles. apart from the usual checks is there anything else to watch out for on this year/model? I read somewhere that can give trouble but don't know if it applies to this year/model. Are there any recalls that should have been carried out? What are they like to live with, are they reliable? What are they like to service and maintain? He had a e46 320d and that thing ate through money when it went wrong Thanks in advance.
