  1. Thanks, Tony. Hope the noise doesn't come back. Several RX owners in the US had the brake actuator replaced (some more than once) but the noise came back soon after (See https://www.clublexus.com/forums/hybrid-technology/840155-brake-noise-every-time-i-press-the-pedal-6.html)
  2. Thanks for this. Did you have to pay the usual diagnose fee that dealers charge before they agree there is a fault which will be covered by the warranty?
  3. Perhaps subpar CS is becoming a norm industry wide? I wonder if other manufacturers are doing any better in terms of CS. My experience with my nearest Lexus and Mini dealers are rather similar in the sense that they are eager to look at every possible way to get more money out of me which is understandable, and not willing to do any further upon my request. My recent experience with my local Mini dealer left a sour taste. Promised to phone me by lunchtime to update when service will be done but I had to call them instead to find out at 4 PM. They did not send the video of the undercarriage inspection that is usually taken during service and blamed IT issues. Promised to send later but heard nothing. As a response to this, I submitted a negative feedback in the Mini UK customer survey but again heard nothing from Mini UK nor the dealer. Makes you wonder if the car was even serviced isn't it?
  4. Insurance on the tesla may not be cheap. Worth checking. NX350h vs Gen 4 RX: Unless you are in London, the savings on insurance for the NX might be negated by the additional luxury car tax for at least 4 years or so (assuming a '22 NX vs '18 RX or older).
  5. Seems like the protection plates are also being fitted to RAV4s now although Toyota wants £70 to fit them. Although a relatively small fee, at least Lexus hasn't charged this for the RX (yet?). Hopefully, more of these plates will be fitted and to other models as well to discourage the scrotes from trying, and bring down the insurance! The following post is from toyotaownersclub: Just got the following reply (within 24 hours) from cr@toyota.co.uk Customer Relations, so I'm booking it in asap at a cost of £70 for the labour. Hi George Thanks for getting in touch. Your vehicle has a number of theft deterrent devices, an immobiliser, intrusion alarm, motion sensor alarm and tilt detection sensors. Unfortunately, new theft methods and tools are continuously being developed by organised criminal gangs to gain access to - or steal the latest vehicles. This is a challenge the entire automotive industry is facing. We are continuously striving to improve our vehicles and whilst, regrettably we cannot guarantee that these efforts will eliminate all criminal activity and theft, our design team will continue to work with the police and insurers to develop technology and components to try to prevent vehicle crime. However, we do have an extra measure in place that can be fitted to your vehicle. We are happy to provide the part (Protection plates) free of charge. However, the labour for fitting would need to be paid for at a set rate of £70. If you would like me to arrange this with your nearest Toyota Centre, please confirm. It would also help if you could provide the Toyota Centre you would like to visit. If you do not know your nearest Toyota Centre, please provide your postcode so I can find this out for you. I hope this helps and thank you for contacting Toyota GB. Kind regards Customer Support Toyota (GB) PLC Distributor of vehicles, parts and accessories for the UK
  6. I enquired Lexus Swindon a few weeks ago about gold member discounts for servicing but sadly the answer was "No, but we do service plans at fixed prices that you would benefit over long term..." 🤔
  7. Try to email Lexus UK first to request for installation instead of going straight to the dealer. You don't need to pay for the installation.
  8. Hi Tim, Yes, Lexus Swindon fitted the plates. In my case, the fitting took about 3.5 hours instead of the expected 1.5-2 hours. Perhaps this is the first time they fitted the plates on a RX but then again they were quite busy with several customers coming in for the routine service. I would start with contacting Lexus UK instead of going straight to the dealer. I received a phone call from the head office a few days after I sent them an email. Hope this helps.
  9. I have the plates fitted FOC as well. Emailed Lexus UK CR and they were quick to respond. They arranged for my local dealer to fit them in less than two weeks. Both sides of the car are protected.
  10. I changed the OEM bridgestones duelers to Yokohama Geolandars. The Bridgestones were showing some hairline cracks around the sidewall after 3 years and the threads were at ~3 mm. Can't fault the Geolandars for the price at the time it was around £160 each including fitting. I find them comfortable and didn't notice any change in noise despite the higher db rating. No change in fuel economy 35-37 mpg. Good performance in the wet and worked well over winter (didn't try them on heavy snow). After 5000 miles threads are like new above 7 mm. On the other hand, a friend bought an approved used NX late last year with budget tyres (Triangle) all round. No complaints over winter etc..
  11. Thanks for the update. Do you know how was the plate installed?
  12. Hi Peter, Would you mind to elaborate on this? Thanks, Charles
  13. I can only hope the NX and RAV4 parked just behind the RX aren't stolen too...
  14. Thanks for the update. Hearing the question about loyalty made me cringe. Sounds like being forced into a cult. Never been asked though.
  15. The increased service cost also includes the relax warranty which should easily worth at least £300 per year for the NX
  16. Thanks. The price is not bad considering it is done at the dealer. However, this does makes me wonder again what the Relax "warranty" or any other warranty is worth. The T&C of Relax warranty does cover the water pump under the "engine" category with all the usual caveats pertaining to wear and tear. A dealer could claim a fault is due to wear and tear, and here's the invoice. From my perspective, ALL components of the car are being worn and torn from the day it is driven. Of course, I am not expecting the dealer to replace things like the brake pads which are obviously excluded from the warranty. What I am concerned with are things like the engine components (in this case the water pump) and the hybrid system. For example, what is stopping the dealer from claiming the hybrid battery failed due to wear and tear (say at 80k miles) after the car passed the hybrid health check a few weeks/months ago? One may argue having a warranty is better than no warranty if you are going to service it at the dealer anyway. But do we just have to accept that the warranty doesn't apply due to wear and tear?
  17. Lexus part number 16100-39615 as shown at https://lexuspartsdirect.co.uk/product/lexus-rx-phase-4-water-pump-3-5l-petrol-hybrid/ Hope this helps. Out of curiosity, has your water pump failed? If yes, at what mileage and is it not covered by the Relax warranty (presuming it is serviced at a dealer)?
  18. I too have the Geolandar G058. Worked well in the wet and over the recent -7 degC winter. Haven't notice the noise is any higher than the Duelers though my hearing might be bad... Although it is not marketed as an all-season tyre here in the UK, Yokohama claims they are https://www.yokohamatire.com/tires/geolandar-cv-g058.
  19. The CT does come with 15" and 16" inch wheels. Pretty sure if you are willing to downsize the wheels you will have a much softer ride with the thicker sidewall tyres and slightly better mpg.
  20. They were trying to steal the car. Watch this: https://youtu.be/c0P4tVT7PRg
  21. Hi Stuart, Check out this video. Although the Lexus technician claims this method works for North American models but it might be worth a try? https://youtu.be/PF9X8c01F2U
