  1. I'm also considering Redstuff as I've heard some good reviews, along with the reduced brake dust. Also, for the front and rears in Reds I'm looking at saving over £50 which is a reasonable saving.
  2. As per the title, I'm looking to buy some EBC Yellowstuff pads for my MK3 GS300 as I've used them in the past and they were fantastic. Admittedly, they were on a much lighter car. The current brake discs, pads and rear shoes seem past their best currently. On my Civic's, I've used Honda OEM Brake discs paired with the Yellows and it was a great combo, with decent bite from cold. What brake discs do most people use on these cars? Or do most stick to OEM? Does anyone know if the Lexus OEM part is a rebrand of another disc I can get off the shelf. Sorry for all the questions, thanks in advance.
  3. Hi all, I've had my car checked today and there is a small split in the Y section near the back of the car. I had set a budget aside for an exhaust before buying the car. I wanted to see how many owners had: Tony Banks Exhaust from Leeds Tanabe Medallion Touring Another option I hadn't considered I saw this clip on YouTube, which I hope is what the Tanabe on the Mk3 also sounds like due to being a similar engine: TIA
  4. Glad it's getting sorted. Will be a lovely motor once done.
  5. Ah with you now. It seemed off topic, so threw me! I looked at many cheap and expensive ones, Mk2 & Mk2 GS300's / GS430's, I even looked at a Mk4 GS250 (lovely, but expensive for me). I would was really after a GS430 and wouldn't rule out if I saw another and sold this. I need a V8 before they vanish into 'clean and non polluted thin air' 🤣 Yeah, very nice on a run. That is driving very sedately and carefully, but hovering between 60-70mph I can't knock it. Definitely better than our 2.4 Accord, but not fair to compare to a 4 cylinder. The Mk3 to my knowledge is a V6 with a cam chain and I believe the Mk2 is straight 6 with a cambelt. Both of those facts steered me away from a Mk2, even though I've heard they are better built and have a large boot (a key requirement for me). Mine drives well for it's age and I really like the V6. Although, I'm starting to build up a lengthy snag list on mine! Nothing too major, but lots of little niggles (boot and bonnet struts, light bulbs, parking brake etc etc).
  6. Did you mean to post to this thread? I didn't quite understand your post.
  7. I'm not pro-EV or anything, but the linear torque in one is absolutely mental. I went in a friends Model 3 SRP and I was impressed by how quick it is. I actually lost my breath for a second at the acceleration. Bit soulless for my liking, but certainly makes A-B journeys look simple. I can't blame you from a company car perspective at all. I'm sure you'll miss the RC-F! I think of a Tesla more as a very expensive gadget (like a phone) that can be driven.
  8. Yeah, it's a nice looking car. I wouldn't say handsome, perhaps regal. I hear you about the side profile haha I was looking at those, but I'm not so keen on the interior of them. Also, my wife's nan has one so I can't be the one driving the same car as the family grandma 🤣 Nice, did you have a GS300? I did actually do a bit last night, made a small difference: Before: After (the yellowish tint is from the sun!): I've heard about this, but I don't want to be the loon in my street outside with a tube of toothpaste rubbing it into my car. Next thing you know, I'll be licking windows.
  9. I noticed lots of flies today on my Silver Lexus. Must be all cars and you guys are having us Silver owners on haha
  10. As stated above, give them a chance to fix it. Luckily, it looks like a small bit of damage.
  11. Thanks! I've actually been a member for a while, just on and off the forum that's all. This is Lexus number 3 for me, but always short spells. Hopefully, I'll keep this one for a while.
  12. I finally found myself a half decent 2005 GS300 in Silver with cream leather interior. Not my first choice of colour combo, but ones with 'real' full service history are few and far between. It also has some 17 inch IS250 alloys on it, which I'm not keen on and they look too small. More because of the style, rather than the 17 inch size. I need to a few jobs on it, specifically: MOT before mid-September Get a service done on the car Buy a new set of alloys with some quality tyres - most likely Goodyear Eagle F1 AS5's, if that's the latest (Technically, this step is done as I bought some Baransu/G Spider alloys on ebay today) Fit the new boot struts (on order) New wipers (not urgent) General clean up I just went out for a quick drive in it an hour ago and I can't get over how spacious and comfortable it is. It really feels like a much larger version of my IS250. Also, it's pretty quick when needed but economical when driven gently. Managed to get 43 mpg last night over a 25 mile motorway run after filling up! I was shocked as I was driving earlier and my side mirrors dimmed! I didn't even know that was an option on this model, I've only seen it on the old 7 Series (the Bangle designed one). Pics to follow soon...
  13. A fellow man of Kent (or Kentish Man if you prefer), where in Kent are you? This is one lovely car Dave and welcome to the forum! I've never seen that colour, but it looks pretty special from the pics. I'm also on the hunt for a Mk4 GS, as the lack of used options for the Mk3 is thin on the ground.
  14. That's crazy money. Especially if you consider they have confessed to it having only 10 services in 16 years.
  15. Update: So, I test drove a GS250 F Sport yesterday. Super lovely cabin and nice quality materials. Beautiful colour combo as it was Grey metallic exterior with a Plum coloured interior. It was a bit weird getting used to the auto handbrake and the quirkiness of the indicators, which I'm sure I'd get used to. I was very pleased to see how large the boot was, which is a big sticking point of mine. The ride quality was very nice, even on the 19 inch wheels. It got worse at lower speeds on rougher grounds, but still much more comfortable than my last IS250 and our current Honda Accord (not a fair comparison, but that's all I have to compare to!) I've come away from the test drive quite confused. I think it felt slower than it actually was. I assume this is also due to it being fairly well insulated, but also having the same engine from an IS250 - which would mean it's slower. It's definitely no slouch, it perhaps felt very grown up - which is no bad thing. I may have shot myself in the foot, as the last cars I test drove recently was a Civic Type R but more importantly, a GS430. The GS430 V8 torque was unbelievable, very undramatic in the delivery but a very serious shove of torque. I'm not counting out a GS250, but it'd need to be slightly better kept than the one I saw with more comprehensive history. Also, cheaper 😆 Over and out.
  16. Nice! No, I don't imagine it would. But I'd be happy with a GS430. I do like the Mk2, but it is too dated for my liking. It comes across as more solidly built, but I'm not sure why. I can't cope with the smaller boot, I feel like I'm in a smaller minority as I actually use the boot a lot and for me a big car with a small boot is completely pointless. But, that's just my opinion. I will keep an eye out, not sure if I'll end up with one at this point! If you see one, please send it to me!
  17. Thanks. I had looked this up already, can't believe how few GS460's there are. Very rare indeed.
  18. As per the title, ideally one in good condition with full history and proof of a cambelt change (for the 430 anyway) Thanks.
  19. My understanding is that P Zero Pirelli's are usually soft and wear out quite quickly. A tyre I've personally liked in the past is the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric's. Good quality tyre and I feel like it helped with steering feedback too.
  20. So, I'm going to view a GS430 tomorrow with the possible intent of buying. This all hinges on condition, paperwork and how it drives. Is there anything anyone would recommend to look out for? My list of things to check so far or be wary of: Suspension can be expensive to replace, so check if there is any misting on the suspension arms Cambelt has to be replaced every 6 year or 60k (I read elsewhere it's 10 years and 10k, but I'll err on the side of caution) Regular servicing is important The car should drive very smoothly, including gearchanges from the auto box Carry out a HPI check while I am there Any other suggestions would be welcome.
  21. UPDATE: I went to see a GS430 today and the overall feeling of being in one is pretty much exactly what I'm after. It's like a larger and more refined IS250, which is not a bad thing. The seats were larger and supported my frame much better 😄 The wave of torque from the engine was both effortless and strong, I really appreciated it. The one I saw today was a quite worn and a bit beat up, so it was more to get a feel for a car rather than buy that particular one. Exciting times ahead (I hope!) I'm still on the hunt, if anyone sees one - please let me know! GS430 MK3 ideally, but I'd possibly consider a MK2.
