  1. It was daft really, possibly a touch of fickleness, a bit like an old flame letting you down I suppose, but she always had the feel of a bouncy castle, even with only 7K on the clock. On quite a few roads where I live close to the coast and sand dunes, and mini hillocks in the roads especially if they came close together, she would happily bounce along the road making some pax feel sick. The complete opposite of my NX and my new RX. Local Lex centre said they couldn't find a problem. So I bought my second Touareg and she was good and solid but hardish ride and never a relaxing ride unless on a motorway. Maybe my old Lex had a bad childhood or was just a bad'un as they say.
  2. Forgot to add, having changed my motor , tried Lexus Insurance for my 72 plate del mileage RX . Lexus Insurance quoted. £3500 fully comp, £2900 more expensive than Saga, Seems like something is a bit wrong there. I’ve never been naughty , only two parking tickets in my life. But that’s car insurance companies for you !
  3. RIP John , you and Roy will be sorely missed on the forum. A veritable mine of information . Thoughts and prayers are with your family and friends
  4. I had the NX first five years ago and it was when I took her in for some recall in 2020 , that when I collected her she was parked next to a used RX for sale with very low miles, and I shouldn't have taken a second look, but there I was having a test drive in it two days later and the rest is history. I loved the NX except for the gear box which had noisy tantrums when you tried to push her a bit. Think they have modified them since. So I did a swap and loved most everything about the RX , it was like stepping into a different world , more space, more comfort and more presence. Solidity and the CVT in the RX was completely different. Mind I had some problems with her that made me feel mistrustful in the end, so I had a brief love affair with a Touareg, and on Wednesday hopefully I'll be back to normal with the RX. I did set out looking to downsize to the NX but at times it used to feel a bit cramped compared with the RX. Really like the Blue on your motor, assume it's with Ivory interior. Did you get her from Teeside Lexus? I had my NX from them and they were excellent.
  5. It would be great if it does come with the manual, but they were very guarded in their answers when I asked, and I assume it’s the last of the 2022 models before the face lift. Yours looks a beauty !
  6. Oops, forgot to say originally posted in the wrong section. It must be an age thing lol
  7. Posted 18 hours ago It really didn't take long for me to realise that I didn't really want to downsize to an NX , lovely car though that it is, so eventually I succumbed to the charms of the RX again. Some very good deals out there on delivery mileage cars. I've gone for Mercury/black interior , I've always liked mercury since original my NX days. It will be arriving on Wednesday so only a short wait. Really looking forward to being pampered again.😀 Good to see many familiar names still around the forum. Sad news about Roy of the Rovers thouh RIP John. Just one bug bear, will Lexus still supply the full owners manual on request ? I'm seriously averse to online Manuals. It's a good feeling to be almost back 😁

  9. Thanks Tel. But After much twoing and frowing lookingn at NX's. Uop popped a dealer and asked if I'd consider going back to an RX. . Initially I'd thought I should really downsize to the NX again. But after viewing his offer and realized I was missing the charms of my comforting RX. So I'm skint now but having a brand new RX delivered on Wednesday, Just went for premium pack model, its got all the basic toys that I need. Some really good deals on pre-reg delivery mileage models out there.
  10. Hi guys, haven’t posted for yonks, but I believe a sordid love affair with a Touareg may soon end in divorce, and I’ve been eyeing up a 2021 NX300H F Sport I’ve had a 2018 NX luxury in the past and I am just wondering if the 2021 F Sport models may have any foibles that I need to look out for. Glad to see the forum is still going along well. A veritable mine of information
  11. Hi David Had two Lexus, but never found an independent in the north east. I used to find that of Lexus dealers Teesside were by far the best. Newcastle Lexus were poor in my opinion, they couldn't even fix the tick over speed of the engine to the Lexus recommended speed. Having said that they have changed ownership recently to Stoneacre and moved to the more accessible Silverlink location so it could well be that personnel at the dealership have changed. Good luck
  12. I have to agree that Lexus Teesside are probably the best dealership of any manufacturer that I have bought from. Very pleasant showroom and as always the trade in didn't match my hopes, however when Tootle were still around I sold my old motor through them for two and a half grand more than the px offered, and then bought a Lex from them. Milke Jones was the manager then and superb to deal with.
  13. Hi Bal, these days I find it's swings and roundabouts with insurance companies. I got a quote from NFU as i live in a very rural area and the quote was £1800 for my RX450h lol, and then I got it forjmust over 400 from Saga. So good luck and enjoy your new motor.
  14. I assumed they had just stopped the Saturday Ask HJ emails. I haven't received one for about four or five weeks now, these days I have to log in to HJ to find anything.
  15. Sadly It seems a fair while since HJ actually penned an article on the site himself. I don't know about his Telegraph column as I would never lower myself to read such a rag. I take it from the OP he's left the business. I must admit I've noticed a deterioration in the quality of reviews and the general tone of the site.
  16. Morning Vinz, an NX I bought new took around eight weeks overall from the date it left the factory. And I got my hands on it about a five days earlier than the original estimated delivery to the dealer. With look they'll give you the name of the ship so that you can track it on https://www.marinetraffic.com/ . It should be around Suez by now I should think, good luck.
  17. Hi Dimitri I had an NX and then moved to an RX in December. The reason I changed was that I found the NX a bit cramped and the boot is actually quite small for the overall size of the car. It's a very nice car but I found the CVT transmission and the engine are not a very pretty marriage. Like you I am a very calm driver with a light right foot, but when you need to accelerate up a steep hill going by the engine revs with the sound it makes it makes you think that the car should be doing eighty miles an hour, but when you look at the speedo your doing 40mph lol. Never had any problems with my NX and I used to get around 38/9 in the winter and 41/43 in the summer. Whereas the RX is more spacious in the cabin and the boot and a comfortable serene drive with a bit of body roll. Mileage wise in the winter I just about got 36 mpg and now it's a bit warmer I'm up to 38.8 mpg at the moment. I never feel that I have to rush in the RX. Good luck and I hope you make the right choice for yourselves, it will be interesting to see if you can get a good deal as nobody seems to know what the market is going to be like after lockdown. There might be more trade in cars after the 20 reg in March and obviously dealers will be trying to talk the market up. But they'll need to get the cash coming in quickly. Good hunting.
  18. I'm getting the same problem as I read this thread. I've had it happen a few times just lately. It's not the end of the world though.
  19. My father was involved in manufacturing the fuel tanks for the first mock ups and prototypes, work which he also did for the Bristol Britannia. Sadly he never really discussed his work in any detail with us, especially as I followed him into the aviation industry. Much of his work in the 40's and 50's was classified at the time. I vividly remember him being so very proud when the first prototype was airborne from Filton for the first time.
  20. Hopefully we might find out a lot more from the Geneva show, I'd certainly prefer hydrogen cell to BEV.
