  1. Hi to all, Came back on long journey yesterday and had been sitting at speed not in excess of 110 for couple of minutes, rest of time 80ish, looked behind and seemed smoke out of back and as powered off, no warning lights on, no loss of power before or after, no engine temps above normal. Car done 120k miles, always serviced to schedules and never driven hard from cold. Had new catalyctic converter 4k ago, and next service now due. Anyone had similar or clues, as did not repeat it, when 10 miles later tried to power up and let off again? I am sure if it was exhaust gases, was from my car, as stupid as that sounds and as on motorway, sure there was not smoke drifting from elsewhere. Car GS300 2001. Thanks for any help

    New Tyres

End of August I bought 4 Pirelli Rossa's £110 plus tracking, they had 25% off deal, so timing was right. Seem very good especialy with heavy rain just had
  3. I have Kuhmo's on GS300 and found them good enough in mixed driving, have odd slide in wet when camber goes funny and car unsettles, but fast through A road roundabouts, braking and any dry driving no probs, as "the Greek" says, underated
  4. Anyone know if nokia bluetooth kit is any good in Lexus and costs of fitting it. Its the one which retails for £79 in orange shop. Plus anyone know decent fitter in Staffordshire/North Birmingham area?

    Tyre Tread

Ihave run tyre tread low before, usually resulting in either a spin or skid. Last time, I hit a huge puddle on motorway and was pulled across one lane, next day put new tyres on! On a very high mileage Audi A4, I used a tyre supplier who specialises in nearly new tyres imported from Germany. Usually 50% price of new, with little wear, so you do not need to go mad, just to ensure safety at speed etc
  6. I put Khuomos on my GS, have p6000 before, and so far so good, fully fitted for £340 for set of 4. If you are not doing anything too special in driving style, you will be pleased, plus, why by a Lexus and drive it like a sports car, cut the middle man out and buy a sports car!
  7. how do I contact him and do anyone know the cost?
  8. what is the "tune" and is there access to it in the Midlands? Thanks
  9. 18 in summer and 20 in winter, climate always on, had an audi that had som problems at 180,000 miles on aircon, so firm believer that more you run them babies, the longer they last!
  10. Pirelli p6000 24000 miles mixed driving half motorway, half town/country lanes Just switched to Kuohmo's update probably by Christmas with my mileage!

    Kuhmo Tyres

fitted tyres, 150 mile run on motorway, plenty to bed in, and so far, quite impressed for mid price tyre. Good overall dry grip, even when pushing it. Not had chance to use in wet, but will feedback

    Kuhmo Tyres

Thanks for everyone replies, nice to have a balanced view. Tyres to be fitted tomorrow £340 for 4 all in, will report back once sufficient mileage on them.

    Kuhmo Tyres

Has anyone used the above tyres and what were their thoughts. Had p6000 on before, which picked up this year for £340 fitted for 4, last quote was £100 more, and don't want to buy a name, because its a name. Thanks in anticipation
  15. my experience is they may have one toyaota mechanic who is lexus trained. Ask the dealer to suplly what they are doing, I have before. First time it was Chester and he is/was a stroppy b**tard, who thought I was taking it to an independent servicing agent! I have mine booked in next week for 90k service on 2001 gs300 and quoted £286 before Gold inclusive of all things, subject to them finding something else. Lexus UK should be able to suplly the list of what is done at each service, as I have heard of differences between dealers as to what they do, so you can check it off. Would suggest you ask for old parts, ie filters, as seems a common thing in the industry not to change filters, which mucks up the whole running etc of the car. Good luck.
  16. Hi to all who replied, sorry, should have said, already got gold, but noticed some reply with costs less gold and some without, so thought I would do the maths myself, and yes gold is always worth it. So can anyone give me a price for the service, unfortunately for some reason I can not get into the gold forum, eventhough I have my valid card in my hand, frantically waiving it at the computer, cant' see why that wont sign me in!
  17. Hi to all, anyone got idea of approx costs gross of Gold Discount, for the baove service? Thanks in anticipation.
  18. Cheers fro that information, will get a quote and let people know
  19. do you know a cost to refurbing them and what it entails? Thanks
  20. sounds more like "pinking", which more than likely linked to poor fuel, do you use supermarket fuel? Ever since having tuned engines when younger, always found they ran badly on poor fuel, have done all the "scientific" experiments, and convinced what you pay more for the fuel, rewarded in either more response or more mileage. Therefore you pay more and get more, so they balance themselves out. If unsure, try replacing the engine after a few years of savings 3p a gallon, gues which one is cheaper?!
  21. I have used them for meguires, nice bucket with all their main polishes etc in, plus a boot tidey, which bit expensive but useful. Prices were fine and stff arrived where askd and on time. Big bonus! Also used http://www.drivenincar.com/ for other car stuff, again same as above on service. Bought a battery jump starter, which has air compressor.
  22. new shape 2000 model, with 80,000 miles, all dealer serviced. Not been told what code it was, although Hanley said that it was running a bit lean, which I assume was diagnostics from service, when they checked and cleared original time engine light being on
  23. Has anyone had problems with the orange engine warning light being on. Its on at mine, and been cleared twice, only affect seems to be low down hesitation in power, as if the kick down not cutting in as quick as need to be. All started when run v low on fuel, book says can come on the, but did not clear after awhile, so next service cleared it, but came on next day, went back to dealers and cleared it again, plus fuel additive. OK for 3 days, and came back on. In addition, my AON warranty given for 1st year of ownership, when bought via Lexus, runs out next week, anyone had experience with AON warranty on a 2nd hand Lexus? Many thanks
  24. Closer again as work in Penkridge! Averaged 27mpg which was 1/3 motorway 1/3 a roads an rest smaller, kept right foot to minimum, motorway speeds .80mph on cruise, filled up texac super and re-filled on BP super, so see how it goes. Found interesting use for Sat Nav, as frustrating following cars on unfamiliar roads when do not know in dark how far to next corner, bing sat nav on max magnify shows for you! Also had a Avensis in previous life, co car, free fuel, tried to destroy it everyday, even with .125mph speeds everyday 54,000 miles in one year, and still did 33mpg,appart from poor brakes, and soggy suspension, could not destroy it. Begrudingly respected it. But was on 3 set of front disks and 2nd drums on back!
  25. Must be even closer, as I live near Stafford. 2nd long run today, somerset and dorset, so filling up with Texaco, and will see. Probably oil change on weekend, as 56000 on clock, advantage with diesel, was as they all burn a bit, always adding some part way through service intervals, need to discipline with Lexus. Plan to have car lots of miles, audi tdi was 212,000, and passed it to girlfriend, as she does less miles than me, interested to know what mileages are out there and what problems experienced, which could be seen as either faults, assoc with gs300 or what does tend to go, even at higher mileages.
