  1. Try Adrian Flusk, I had ridiculous increases on renewal, not much better on comparison sights, appreciate mine is a Gen 3 RX, they managed to beat the comparison sites both on price and excess with legal expenses included FOC. The staff at AF can have an influence on price when you speak via phone, interestingly I was told that using a broker like AF they are some 3 months behind the market on increases. On maybe a not such a crucial point, they have a good tech offering eg getting NCB proof and online servicing , which was one of the reasons putting me off a broker for the last 20 odd years. It has been relatively painless exercise. Perhaps this year I have just lucky but a quick phone call probably a good investment of time.
  2. Hi BOLAJI, I have the 10 year extended warranty & had the same issue that none of my local centres had heard of it, together with the call centre of LEXUS UK. No matter what I was able to evidence from this forum all adamant there was no such thing. As a last resort I called my dealer who I bought my RX from Snows, LEXUS, Hedge End ( Southampton ) I spoke with Conor in service ( a " expert " of the 10 year plus warranty ) who explained everything I needed to know, took in out over the phone £540 per year interest free over 10 months, all the paperwork arrived in the post a few days later. For 10-15 minutes on the phone with him so useful than my previous labours. Hope this helps. Frank
  3. Rod, In my 7th year of ownership GEN3 2012 RX 450H FSPORT no water ingress issues at all " what's not to like ? " I have never kept a car so long !
  4. Whilst you are in dialogue with this maybe worth considering legal expenses cover ( if you indeed have it normally with either your Motor or Home insurance ) Particularly your home cover often this covers disputes with goods or services bought which indeed should cover car Insurance. Work checking both, a call in should not affect your Home / car insurance as not regarded as a claim. The initial helpline will give initial guidance and what you should do to resolve the matter before any formal advice (if any ) is given. This may give you more leverage in your challenge with your Insurer.
  5. Herbie, Absolutely feel your other half & yourself have made exactly the correct decision and your factual description of the reasons Equity Release is right for you both bears this out. All the very best for the future to you both.
  6. I did call LEXUS Hedge End ( Snows ) yesterday where I originally purchased my RX from in 2017, dealt with Connor in Service, very knowledgeable and completed over the phone at a cost of £546 per year , I took up the option of interest free monthly direct debit. Connor could have been a member of the LOC such was his knowledge and history of Extended Warranties he did say he had only completed 2 applications over the past year of the Lexus 10 year plus Extended Warranty, he even phoned the underwriters whilst on the phone to me to check that the UK & European Breakdown cover was as he thought. He will post the Warranty details to me. I did clarify because of the distance to Southampton that I would not be able to service or use the warranty with Snows, this did not seem to matter with him, in fact the impression given was similar to my dealings with them at purchase that a customer is valued no matter what the spend , quite refreshing ! I will show my documents to Lexus Chalfont this may be useful to them, still a mystery why LEXUS UK are not communicating this proactively to centre's or maybe they don't want to for some reason. Overall peace of mind. Thanks to Colin, Phil, Bill, Brendan & Nigel for your helpful responses. Frank
  7. Hi looking for advice please, my RELAX Warranty runs out on the 2nd September this year, & want to take out the warranty for cars over 10 years old. Contacted my local Lexus centre at Chalfont St Giles who I service my RX with, although very helpful had never heard of the Extended Warranty for cars over 10 years old. I contacted Lexus Customer Relations yesterday who said that Lexus had never offered this Warranty ,gave me details of Lexus warranty on new cars & RELAX and that was all the warranties Lexus can offer.offer. When I mentioned the Lexus Owners Club and that members did indeed have these warranties in place, the response was that dealers must be selling their own warranties. I am keen to take out this warranty but also to stay with Lexus Chalfont St Giles had a previous RELAX claim on tailgate motor unit paid in full,as I have a good relationship with them. Would any of you have any contact details of a dealer that would be willing to sell me this warranty, albeit on the basis that I would not be servicing or potentially repairing the RX with them. Any guidance would be much appreciated Thanks Frank
  8. The comments made me think of my upcoming insurance renewal albeit not until beginning of October. My Gen 3 RX on Confused coms in at £390 (up from £340 2022) ,quoted on Gen 4 at £860 ( 2018 model ) Interestingly the £390 was from my existing Insurer Tesco, now coming in on Gen 4 £920. Over the past few years when I have considered changing ) the differential between Gen 3 & Gen 4 has been circa £200, indisputable increases, whilst we are never sure of the real reasons increased risk and profitability will I feel be top of the mix. In view of the plate being fitted and if thefts decrease will the premiums reduce ?, i think we can all guess on that outcome ! These premium's together with used car prices give yet another reason to keep my reliable RX for the forceable future.
  9. My apologies for late acknowledgment, to echo the comments made, since joining the forum whenever i had questions or needed advice John would respond with helpful solutions which like many on this forum pointed me in the right direction. I will always be grateful for John's insights. RIP.
  10. Hi this is an extract from our Neighbourhood Watch, for the London Boroughs for 2022 pleasing to see Lexus not appearing on this. Dear Watch Member, Latest figures show that in 2022 the following makes of vehicle were the most likely to be stolen, shown as a % of the number of those vehicles on the road: 0.77% Land Rover Discovery 0.63% Ford EcoSport 0.41% Ford Fiesta 0.38% Land Rover Range Rover 0.27% Mercedes-Benz C-Class 0.22% Volkswagen Golf 0.21% Ford Focus 0.19% Audi A3 0.18% Vauxhall Astra 0.13% Vauxhall Corsa This equates to 21,643 vehicle thefts over that period, with the overall total for 2022 being 58,082 vehicles recorded as stolen - an average of 159 vehicles per day, an 18% increase on 2021. For Hillingdon this breaks down to 939 reported vehicle thefts in 2022.
  11. Sergio, from reading your unfortunate & highly contradictory experience, my daughter had similar dealings with a very well known fast fit repair centre here in the UK with a not too dissimilar total recommended to put right all what was supposedly wrong with her AUDI A2. I obtained an appraisal on all the repairs that were recommended from an Independent, which in almost all the areas were found to be bad advice and communicated this to their Head Office who appointed an Area Manager to oversee an inspection, as expected a full apology given and a goodwill payment made. Depending on your visit to your garage on 22nd March a similar approach including your Customer Service issues detailed to LEXUS HQ will hopefully restore your confidence with the brand.
  12. Thank you guys, I followed Herbie’s detailed advice and have successfully put it back,as you say Herbie a bit fiddly but all good now. Thanks to you all. Frank
  13. Hi, When loading some luggage into the boot of my RX, the part below seemed to come loose from somewhere and came down on top of the luggage. I can’t seem to find how to attach it. I have done the usual looking at the owners manual googling but cannot find any reference or even a picture of this part. in nearly 6 years of ownership, I’ve never even noticed this part and I’ve begun to think I’m going crazy. Is it even part of the car🤣 ??? I have literally no technical expertise, and cannot seem to find where this attaches onto any help would be welcomed to put me straight on this !! Thanks, Frank
  14. Certainly if I were in your position, let the insurance talk about their first opening offer and then ask how much to purchase from them ( if thats what you want to do ) the figure they offer should be well down on the asking prices in the market and take into account the repairs that you wish to make. Pointing out if you wish to purchase from them will save cost of disposing of the vehicle should help drive the purchase price down further. If you wish to look to taking an offer from them have ready as many examples online of the vehicles you've seen to demonstrate what it will cost you to replace and quickly supply these. Also give a good account of what good example your RX is ( if it is of course !!! ) From my experience they will expect a challenge to their initial offers. Frank
  15. Just a thought, I would reserve your position ( if you paid by card ) with your card provider by putting them on notice regarding chargeback particularly by Debit Card as this has a limited time for chargeback, Credit Card has much longer but still good to report the issue to them The card provider will ask for full details of the transaction & the issues you have described, this way you will stop the clock ticking from the day you notify the card provider. This can be done at the same time as your dealings with the Dealer & this will not compromise your actions with either the card provider or the dealer. Hope this helps.
  16. Cannot agree more with these comments. Driving in any of the London Borough's we all need to be so aware with this increasingly aggressive approach from the Mayor towards motorists when a simple honest mistake leads to a fine. My 2012 RX450H has the original Maps on Sat Nav & the most common is that of reduced speed limits with apparently no consultation or notice. Ducks Hill Road, Ruislip was always 60MPH two successive reductions now put this to 40 MPH. My Sat Nav shows the 60 MPH This road does not have a bad record for accidents, this is replicated throughout London. I find when I drive now questioning myself what law have I inadvertently broken particularly if I am in an unfamiliar part of town. Interestingly being close to the Greater London border with Hertfordshire there does not appear to be evidence to suggest that Herefordshire is taking this response. Change.org have a petition details below if anyone is interested further Stop Sadiq Khan expanding the ULEZ to all the London borough 2023 Tim Rowling started this petition to UK Parliament and 2 others The mayor, Sadiq Khan has asked Transport for London to launch a consultation on expanding the Ulez from its current boundary of the North and South Circular roads to cover all 33 boroughs. Sadiq Khan is planning to push the extension of the London Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) to all the London boroughs. This will price working Londoners off the roads and cause the scrapage of perfectly good cars causing a terrible impact on the environment !! Extending the Ultra Low Emission Zone even further than to the current north and south circular limit will mean anyone OUTSIDE the zone will have to pay : £12.50 for cars, vans and motorbikes to drive in the zone, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.. OUTER LONDON IS RESIDENTIAL & should NOT be subject to the ULEZ .. EVEN IF YOU LIVE NOWHERE NEAR LONDON PLEASE SIGN THIS PETITION BECAUSE : ONCE THIS IS PASSED IN LONDON IT WILL BE COMING TO MORE TOWNS/CITIES You can read a newspaper article about it here: https://www.standard.co.uk/news/london/ulez-ultra-low-emission-zone-expand-greater-london-sadiq-khan-b986027.html?amp I have friends that have recently purchased cars on finance that will not be compliant, but will be trapped as they can’t afford to upgrade them.. Others that would have to pay £12.50 to visit sick relatives, this is simply not acceptable.. 190,152 have signed. Let’s get to 200,000! At 200,000 signatures, this petition becomes one of the top signed on Change.org! 17. In 5 years plus of owning my 3rd Gen RX450h no issues back issues whatsoever ( Have had minor back problems in the past ) including twice a year 450 mile journeys, lots of short journeys,. A completely different experience from previous brands access in / out is in my opinion unsurpassed, only adds to the overall comfort. My other half says exactly that too-so whose to argue !!!, Quite Simply the most comfortable car I have had the pleasure of owning & one of the reasons I intend keeping it.
  18. Hi yes have used Lexus Hayes albeit only for the Smart Water application for the Catolytic Converter. I found them obliging and efficient & pleased to have my custom. if I did my servicing with them they were offering discounted servicing. The only reason I did not use them was the location from me is awkward to get to. I now use Lexus at Chalfont, they offer free pick up and delivery with competitive pricing, I did mention the Lexus Owners Club , they seemed unaware but the pricing seems to match that of Lexus Hayes.I have used them for servicing and a RELAX warranty claim, relatively easy to deal with with good communication with Technician. Hope this helps.
  19. Can't help feeling that all of the contributors to this thread influenced LEXUS UK to come to the right decision, the momentum built up was I believe a major factor in them not wishing to set a precedent and the brand damage that may have been caused if they stood by the increased APR. I do think LEXUS UK keep an eye on these pages ( and so they should ) This has to be good for all who sign up many months in advance & should give certainty for the future purchases. Great perseverance enjoy your new car !!
  20. My RX450H is 10 years old on the 13/12/2022, I had the major 10 year service completed 3/9/22, LEXUS UK confirmed in writing RELAX will continue until 2/9/23 unless I reach 100000 miles first which in my case is very unlikely. Next year I will look to take out the extended 10 year warranty, all being equal why look to change ? particularly at £540 for the warranty.
  21. The Vaseline certainly works for me,the issue is in a number of the forums, the common denominator for me is heavy rain, I have never been sure which sensor is the issue, other than it is at the front. So by simply applying to them all saves time & as I am not in the least technical has been the ideal solution !! When the issue first arose I was so grateful to the forum or it would have been a trip to the workshop.
  22. Booking with the Garage via telephone call direct each time, I use Chalfont Motor Company ( CMC ) Bucks. Two advantages : I find providing I book say 8 weeks or so in advance, I am usually able to arrange free collection & delivery of a day of my choosing.I normally time it within a day or two of the anniversary of the last service ( always a year as I do less than 10000 miles ) so RELAX is kept intact I can normally agree a discount on the Servicing & the MOT fee. On the LEXUS UK site full prices for servicing, MOT & collection / delivery, plus no rapport / relationship built up with the Garage. I agree great advice go straight to your garage / dealership
  23. From what my garage tells me once the service is completed you will receive an email from Lexus confirming the warranty with a reference number this happened to me last year but it is dependent on the service obviously
  24. John,Couldn't agree more, thanks for background to this which is encouraging
