  1. I'm not sure really, I thought I heard it mentioned on here. I have also been told the following, do you agree ? ....... The most important thing is that you get a sealed one designed to provide ONLY low current and ONLY low charge. If you put a normal one in there it'll work fine for a couple of years then be sulphated beyond redemption thanks to not drawing any decent current ever
  2. This has probably been asked before (I need one as well) I was under the impression that this was a Lithium battery, but I am told it's a Lead-Acid. Anyone ?
  3. I get a noise (not hammering) when I pull out of my drive, doing a sharp left . It feels more like the tyre scrubbing or bouncing. A lot of people say they get this. The car has only 28,000 on the clock, with not much wear on the tyres. I put it down to the rough road surface.
  4. I had a similar experience when leaving a car park in Hampshire a couple of years ago. A couple of women walking along the road, totally oblivious to me being behind them. 😁
  5. Personally I will stick with my local Toyota/Lexus dealer for servicing, for a couple of reasons. 1,.....I trust them to know more about the car than a fitter in Halfords, I don't know if things have changed at Halfords, but it used to be the case that the fitters were paid a basic wage, and made it up by finding as many jobs as they could on customers cars. 2......They are only a three minute walk away, and have some nice young ladies in reception 🥰
  6. Our 2015 IS300h has 28,000 miles on the clock and has an "indicated" average of about 52 mpg. We don't use it around town. Mostly on A roads, dual carriageways and motorways. I've never had the battery indicator fully lit up, often get all but one showing..
  7. Some years ago I had a whine develop at the rear end of my Honda Accord, diagnosed as the fuel pump as that was the only mechanical item that could make a noise. I sourced one from a breakers and had a mechanic friend fit it. The problem was probably caused by me rarely filling the tank more than about a third full, as it didn't get used a lot.
  8. It used to be the case that you could tell the age of a car by checking the logo on the glass. Assuming the glass was the same age as the car. You had to look at the words Laminated or Toughened, and there were dots above and below the words. I have no idea whether or not something similar still exists. It's a long time since I looked, and that may have only been with British built cars ? Then again you can check the age of any UK registered car by going to ....... https://www.gov.uk/check-vehicle-tax
  9. How far do you want to go back ? I had a Mk3 Cortina which had one fault after another, as well as the rust which was usual for most cars of that period. The Volvo 340 wasn't much better. Lots of distributor related problems. I've only had one car break down on me. An Audi 80 where the earth strap corroded through on the Alternator, and the battery went flat. I had a nice Lancia Beta 1300cc. Lovely to drive and very comfortable. It had a big attack of the wire worm and the clutch started slipping, so that had to go. Before the Lexus I had three Hondas, no major problems with any of them.
  10. I don't think it happens as much with the more modern alarms, but it used to be the case that some alarms could be triggered by radio transmissions. When I was working and had a transceiver in my van, if I were transmitting on 70cms (about 440Mhz) it could set off some car alarms. Discoveries used to be particularly susceptible.
  11. I do something similar. I keep a couple of retired batteries topped up for emergencies.
  12. Thanks for the info Herbie. Now that Mercedes are introducing WTW into their in car navigation, it won't be long before others follow suit. To those who don't like it..............If you don't like it don't use it.
  13. WTW is apparently used by all of the emergency services, as it gives your location down to 10 metres One of the chaps involved with it was talking about it on the radio on Saturday morning. It covers the whole world, and is translated to most languages. It is free to use, but anyone using it commercially has to pay. It wont replace satnavs as it doesn't give directions, other than a compass heading. Ok as long as you have a phone signal to give your location.
  14. I hear that Mercedes are integrating "What Three Words" into their sat navs. I expect it won't be long until other manufacturers follow suit. It would be nice to see it in the Lexus range.
  15. They seem to be already doing this with the dealer I use.
  16. I believe it's the same on all or most Lexus models. A friend with a 450 told me about it. It may well be in the manual, but it doesn't do any harm to ask. That's what forums are all about.
  17. It's on the underside of the boot lid. on the left hand side just above the end of the number plate.
  18. To open the boot when locked, there's a key you can pull out of the key fob, It fits into a keyway on the boot lid.
  19. I don't know why finding a DAB station on a car radio should be so difficult. I don't have any problems with my radios indoors.
  20. I had no idea these were still available. I remember going back 50 odd years a family friend always fitted these to his cars. although the design was a little different in those days. How effective are they ? My only issue would be that I would keep banging my head on them getting in the car, something I often do now 😊
  21. It's OK it doesn't worry me. It happens on a lot of forums unfortunately 😞
  22. Thanks for that, although what they say is really stating the obvious. 🙂
  23. Thank you, when the station is no longer available I shall do that. I have no idea if the difference between DAB and DAB+ is a software or hardware issue. I won't impose by asking that question here.
  24. About the only radio station I listen to is moving from DAB to DAB+ towards the end of June. To save me digging out the handbook, does anyone know if the radio in my 2015 IS 300h is DAB+ compatible.
