Yup! That was the first thing I checked (but it is still a valid question!) From the sound of it, I have 3 options... 1. Carry on as I am. 2. Dismantle the centre console and see if that lets me fix it. 3. Give up smoking ;-) I'll concider option 2 although it is such a nice car, I'm not that keen on pulling it apart although I'm sure it will go back together better than an Alfa Romeo ;-) Thanks guys and thanks for the great forum! Having just bought my second LS400 (a 1997 model), I have realised that the ciggy lighter and ashtray light does not work. I have checked the fuse and that all checks out OK which suggests to me that the connection between the ashtray assembly and the rest of the car has failed. The question is can the ashtray unit (not the actual silver bit but the bit that has the wooden panel on it) be removed without taking the whole centre console out? I want to see if power is reaching this point with a view to fixing this as it's kind of unfair that teh kids have a lighter each in teh back and I don't have one ;-) Thanks Alex
