  1. Yes, rebook with the roof rack option. Your ticket that you hang from the interior mirror shows the marshals your carriage. Just follow the high vehicle directions. First time in my RC300h, I didn't know about this, and the 2 inch gap either side of the alloys made me very nervous, especially with the length of the train. Got through safely though! Next time with the high carriage option was far more relaxed! Despite no rack, was just waved through. With the UK badge, make sure a magnetic one has somewhere to fit. Mine would only go next to the Lexus oval badge. I imagine alot of your rear end is also alloy or plastic.
  2. If you're going by Eurotunnel, as daft as it sounds, you need to do this. The standard carriages that you will automatically be booked on are very narrow by today's standards, and you will very easily damage your alloys When booking, and using the dropboxes, state that you will be fitting a roof rack that will have bikes on!! This will get you onto the high carriages with much wider metal kerbs, with less chance of damage to wheels. You'll be accompanying motor homes etc. Make sure you follow the high/wide arrows from the booths to the train. It'll cost a little more, but well worth it.
  3. I invoked the ignore function a couple of years ago, bliss.......
  4. I did similar on my RC300h. Then whilst rummaging in the left hand cubby where the 12v battery and tyre sealant is, I found a jack with handle and brace all very neatly stowed away! Don't have a spare though.
  5. I always drive slowly when having a blow job........
  6. A joke from Pistonheads. Use doctors receptionists as Border Police. No one would get in....
  7. Yes. I realise that many people that can spend £40k on a car can also afford to tax them, but post 17 models will be favoured more. Similar to IS250 manual verses auto's.
  8. This is going to make a difference in RCF values, when pre 18 models are going to cost considerably more to tax.
  9. Not trying hard enough!!!! When I had my ISF, I managed 6 mpg!!!!
  10. You've partially answered your own question. Temperature, both outside air and engine. Most cars on a short commute in winter will have mayonnaise, due to the engine not getting hot enough. Even though a water temperature gauge will show hot, the oil temperature will be nowhere near as hot. My Prius, used as a taxi doing 150 miles every 12 hour shift, was always clean. Wife's Aygo doing a total of 10 miles per day on 4 trips, was always full of mayonnaise inside the oil filler cap during winter. Clean in summer.
  11. You could always pretend your car is a Jaguar.....
  12. There was also an episode of Wheeler Dealers featuring an obsolete windscreen. A chap had a warehouse full of old screens, and was able to find a screen with the correct curvatures. The damaged screen was overlaid and they marked around the outside. They then used a diamond cutter, polished the edges and fitted it to the car.
  13. Also noted it's marked as a private seller. Is it, or are they being a little naughty?
  14. Get some black paint and mix some in with the silver until it matches.
  15. Yes, often thought that. If they are fined, it barely covers the cost of police time and in some cases the damage to property and police vehicles. No wonder morale is low if they go to all that trouble just for the perpetrators to get a wrist slap. Yet if us respectable motorists exceed the speed limit by a few miles per hour, we can get points and fined way more than the people in the programmes, very often without any police being present. Crime does pay.....
  16. I hate rusty nuts as well. Quick solution is a toilet roll cut down the length, trim the excess off to reduce the circumference, insert into the wheel nut hole, and a quick blast from a silver aerosol can. All 4 done in 5 minutes! Agree with your other comments, and don't think theft is so much of a problem, and do remember the days of seeing cars on their discs.
  17. Yes, Gummi Pflege is vital on RC models where the windows automatically drop upon door opening. And don't forget the rear hatch if you have one.
  18. Many, many years ago I used to valet cars on a used car sales site. Many had the initials FW chalked on the screen, meaning 'full works'. Part exchange used to have WWW chalked on, meaning Wash, Windows and Wheels only. Just doing these 3 things improved a sh*ter no end! And so to Lexus owners. A scuffed alloy looks absolutely awful, and to my mind shows they don't care for their vehicle. I'm sure to most Lexus owners, a car is their pride and joy, so will always strive to keep their vehicle in the best possible condition, hence the OCD!
  19. Don't think you're tight at all! Fortunately I can afford the expense to tax a car at the higher rates ie RCF £615 and ISF £630, but for occasional use at weekends, to my mind, that is just too much. Now with the newer tax rates LC500h £155 and RCF £165 it just makes much more sense. Stupid man maths I know, especially as one has to purchase a newer car to benefit, but I begrudge paying tax to the government.
  20. That looks to me as if they intended to clock the car to 22,000 miles, not 2,200! If they'd done it to 22,000 I doubt if any suspicion would have arisen, as that would seem about right for the age. I'd want a full refund personally. Or, as a partial refund, I'd be looking for the retail difference between the 2,200 and 75,000 miles. Your next problem will be when you reach 100,000 miles. Most people will think it's scrap then, and offers will be very low.
  21. Had mine nearly 4 years now. As many have mentioned, lovely to own and drive. Be prepared for many admiring glances and comments. On holiday in France, people actually waited beside mine when parked, and wanted to find out about it. I have managed to get a 2.5 metre kitchen top in mine. Put the wife in the back, fold the rear seat down, put the front seat forward, and fully recline it. Plenty of padding on the dash etc. I think the only thing to replace it with is an LC 500 when they drop below £50k ! As for the indicators, I have mine set on the max of I think, 7 flashes (see YouTube), as they can be a nuisance.
  22. Are you going via Eurotunnel? On my first trip,I found that the wheel clearance between the kerbs in the carriage was very tight, not good for diamond cut alloys. On subsequent trips I've clicked the box to state bikes on roof, even though I don't take any! This then puts you in the 'wide' lane, with much more clearance. Don't forget the new UK sticker!
