  1. See what I mean about mechanically minded, Alan knows more about these things than I do. Hope my comments helped.
  2. I picked up my new IS300 yesterday. First of all, I am not to mechanically minded, so dont expect the ins & outs of straight 6s. As someone else said about their new IS, this car has a serioulsy large grin factor. :D The engine note, in normal Drive or using the M shift, is fantastic. Kick down is responsive, particuarly with the PWR button depressed. Loads of gadgets/toys...or safety features, depending upon who you are showing the car off to. Auto lights are fun when you go under a bridge. I have an 04 IS300 in black, the tinted windows make the back the car look liek its been engulfed by a black hole, the wheels are the graphite 11 spoke wheels and the car is now adorned with a couple of LOC stickers...it looks rather smart, even if I say so myself. I will probably start a seperate post at some point as its so good. Back to your questions: Select PWR and the thing goes quick enough (for me), I think the 0-60 is 8.2 seconds. When I asked a similar question I am sure someone (Fargo I think) suggested NOS...eh yeah maybe. I absolutley love it. I cant wait to go to an appointment tomorrow morning. Heres my ultimate test. I see BMs, Alfas, Jags, Mercs and think to myself 'no, I definately made the right choice' and just in case, I switch to M and kick down a couple of gears and listen to that engine!
  3. I have had this dilema, and agree with Bobski. I looked at the Mazda, but have placed my order for nice shiny black IS300. Should be picking it up at the end of the month. :) Not being the most mechanically minded person, I look for the simple things in life so here are some reasons for buying a 300: There seem to be a lot of RX8s around I dont see many IS200 (and even fewer 300s) I dont like the suicide doors So there you have it, my hardly scientific answer to the question...only 11 more days to go and I will let you know what I think of the 300 (although I guess most of you already know).
  4. Yes very surprised how many Lexus owners mod their cars with kits & tricks. Not sure i will be able to afford/need to mod the 300, but its fun seeing what others have done with real cars and not the make believe ones of a play station game.
  5. Thanks Nagging voice now strangled and I am going to order a new IS300 tomorrow...exciting eh!? Just need to wait and see which dealer will give me the best deal. I have enjoyed delving into the depths of this site and I didnt know that you Lexus drivers were so, well, how can I sum it up....anyone played 'need for speed underground' on the PS2, if you have you'll get what I mean.
  6. Help needed I am looking to buy a new IS300, but have this nagging voice in the back of my head (or is it my wife?) which keeps pointing out the difference in price, both upfront and ongoing. For those of you have experience of both, is it worth it? Ta
