  1. The invoice says 'carry out gear box oil change' and he charged me for three litres of oil, so I think it's the former.
  2. Indeed, I was quoted £2400 by Lexus to replace all four UCA's, which just seems silly but then the specialist I took it to said they didn't quite need replacing. So I'm waiting! The car still drives and handles beautifully so I think it's safe to wait.
  3. Moderators, please move this if it's in the wrong section. Three months in and already having some work done on my lovely LS including new Tyres/TPMS sensors, auto transmission fluid change and all new spark plugs. Hopefully that will make it run a bit smoother since it's been shifting a little rough lately and the engine hasn't been running as smoothly as I would expect. I had a sneaking suspicion that with only 29000 miles since new the car has done a lot of sitting around and probably needed a full sweep of maintenance work done. Hopefully if I do it little by little it won't break the bank. They told me my front upper control arm bushes had very slight cracks on it but they reckon it's not a replace job yet. I'll probably go with some aftermarket suspension components when I do decide to replace them as Lexus OEM charge £400 per arm! Other than they they gave the old girl the green light! If you Londoners ever need a great specialist garage, I can recommend Derek at Tech-one in Sidcup. Honestly one of the nicest and honest mechanics I've ever met and extremely knowledgable about Toyota's. Other than that, I'm still loving life in my LS! No regrets on the purchase whatsoever!
  4. Personally, it's more a 'better safe than sorry' approach. If I post pictures of my car I always leave the year marker visible but the rest of the reg hidden. I know it's on full display when you're driving around, but for me, it's more about what people on the internet can do illegally with the full registration number and being able to find my name and address. It's probably overly cautious but that's just me.
  5. Yes I blocked off the number plate! I always do when I post any pictures! Sorry for causing confusion. Exactly :)
  6. Thanks for the kind remarks, everyone. I managed to hook up the Carista module and got a few error codes relating to tyre pressure monitoring and solar sensor, but I don't think they are anything to worry about. The tyres are not losing any air so it's just a few sensors I need to replace. It's not rude at all, I am pretty sure I overpaid, but I really love the car and I'm a firm believer that If you are planning on keeping a car longer-term then paying a little more to get the car you want is worth it. I know the re-sale won't be so good on these, which means I won't be selling it anytime soon! Let's just say I paid over £13k but under £15k for it 😓 Also, very sorry I didn't take more pics, this is just one I snapped as I was looking back at it when I parked! I will definitely take more.
  7. I shall take some pics and post up when I get it out of the underground car park this weekend, it's too dark in there to take good ones! :)
  8. Good morning, I just wanted to introduce myself. Last week I picked up my first ever Lexus, a 2007 LS460 SE-L. I've only driven it a couple hundred miles, but so far it's one of the most solid, comfortable and well equipped cars I've ever owned. I can hardly believe it's over 10 years old and I don't think anyone else can either! It has incredibly low mileage (less than 30k) and I've yet to decide whether that is a good thing or bad thing. It definitely sat around a lot so as soon as I find a decent Lexus specialist in London I'm going to take it in and make sure there's nothing that could be damaged due to that. Also want to make sure the few recalls that Lexus had on the LS of that era were taken care of on this car. If they weren't, hopefully I can still get them done! I purchased the Carista module so also looking forward to hooking that up and seeing if there are any fault codes and doing a bit of customisation to the features. The good news is that it really is in like-new condition. Not a stone chip, a scratch or a mark on the leather or wheels. Looking forward to participating in this forum and getting to know you all. Cheers!
