  1. Holy thread revival guys! Googling bought me here so I apologise if there's a later thread but. .. I had to replace my BODY ECU NO.1 due to the heater panel and blowers not working. That now works and I've reprogrammed the key, but now my PWR/ECT/SNOW and VSC OFF switches no longer work. Can anyone tell me how to rectify this?
  2. As the title really guys. I had to replace my body ECU no.1 on my 98 S2 GS300 as it was draining the battery, and now I have nothing on dash for the Power/snow modes or ECT OFF. The key fob is also not operating the central locking but I think I can do that with the door dance sequence. Any ideas?
  3. I'd love to, but all the local yards export everything Toyota/Lexus so no one gets a look in! One of the guys on Facebook has a spare or two he's willing to part with, but til then I'm running 4 out of 6 OEM coils.
  4. I checked all the coils and found one faulty one. The car same with a full set of spares (brand new but aftermarket) so I fitted one of those. The cam belt is reasonably new and in good condition, and all the timing marks are spot on. After all that it started... Really choppy and lumpy, and only for about 10 seconds, but it ran. After a few more tries it suddenly fired up spot on. I took it for a drive and it feels fine although the gearbox sounds like a straight cut racing box - better make sure it has some oil in it. After that it would start perfectly every time - until I left it over night. This morning it wouldn't start at first, then it started (lumpy choppy), then after a while it started fine again. So.... It's a sensor problem. The only question is, which one? I'm thinking it's either the CTS or the throttle body. As it's throwing up an occasional EML from the MAP sensor, the throttle body looks more likely although it's acting like it's a CTS fault. She's fighting a good fight, but I'll get her sorted yet!
  5. Didn't get time to check that as yet. I'm hoping to get to it tomorrow.
  6. Cam belt looks quite new. No missing teeth as far as I can see. Fuel pump can be felt humming while cranking so that seems ok too. Security light goes out when cranking. Stumped!
  7. Thanks Colin, I'll look into that. Unfortunately there's no history with the car, but for the price I paid I can't complain! It looks to have had a new water pump and radiator fairly recently, and any decent mechanic would have done the timing belt at the same time, but there are some eejits out there! 😁
  8. Compression test shows cylinder one at 165psi and cylinders 2 to 6 at between 180 and 190 psi. Valves are ok then. So I'm thinking fuel pump or crank sensor. Any thoughts?
  9. As the title says, I just bought a Sportcross as a non starter. It does fire when cranked, then immediately dies. It was showing A P0110 fault but when I cleared it, it didn't come back. If I hold the key at start it will try to fire with an occasional backfire through the throttle body. My first plan will be a compression test to make sure the valves are ok, but I could do with a few pointers going forward. All ideas will be gratefully received ! TIA chaps! 😁
  10. I've had no luck so far getting the blower motor working, so I'm planning on trying a replacement engine ECU. I know of one being broken not far away so I'll go and get the ECU, transponder ring and key. Is there anything else I'll need to make it plug and play? Also, would it be worth getting the body control module, and if so where is it?
  11. I've been fighting with my GS for a while now trying to get the Aircon working. I had it regassed, then degassed so I could change the compressor, then regassed (still not working) degassed so I could change the pressure sensor, then had to change the high pressure line because the thread stripped out of the pressure sensor mounting. I changed the line and sensor yesterday and now have a steady green light on the AC switch (yay!), BUT now the blower has stopped working. It was fine before I changed the line but now I get nothing. The control panel is showing that I can select all speeds but there is no output. I have checked all the fuses and tried swapping out the two relays in the passenger kick panel but no change. Can anyone suggest where to look next?
  12. Hi guys and girls. I've had the GS about 18 months now and have mainly enjoyed the car despite its quirks. I'm looking forward to chatting to you all and maybe sorting out some of the aforementioned quirks.
