  1. The job was easier than I thought....the plates are off! But I was slightly naive, and thought all standard number plates are the same size. The number plates Lexus Nottingham put on are bigger and hide loads of mess from the first set of plates this car had. My new plates are much smaller, and now I can either see 2 old rivets or some epoxy that won't shift. Might have to resort to a frame for the number plate Also, the special sticky pads are rubbish....hardly sticking at all at the front.....first time I drive fast I bet I loose the plate
  2. thanks to you all! I am off to give it a try....I wills tart with my AutoGlym box and see if any of them can do the trick Phil Ps, wish me luck
  3. thanks all! I will have a rumage throughthe cupboards and see if I can find anyting appropriate. As far as removing the sticky stuff, would I be ok with dilute white sprit or will this take the paint of the boot lid?
  4. thanks fokls! I will get out my hot-air gun and see if I can do it. Any suggestions for us non-fisherman instead of the fishing line? Or do you think they will just pull off when I heat them up? Phil
  5. Hi All I have just bought a new personal registration number for my Lex, and I need to fit the new plates. Has anyone any good tips on removing the old stuck on plates without damaging my paintwork? I do not want o simply pry them off incase I chip the paint. I have bought new sticky pads to fix the new plates, I just eed to get the old ones off first Thanks in advance Phil
  6. Thanks for that, but my Gold membership has expired....just noone removed my banner :-) I have just had a quote from Lexus Nottingham, £125 per tyre.......is that average, it sounds extotionate to me What kind of price would I get with gold membership? I woudl be happy to re-new my membership, especially if I could save on the tyres
  7. Hello All I have been aways from this forum for a while, and I washoping some of you could give me some advice. My IS200 Sport is due for it's MOT this week, and I think the tyres will need changing. I am not very flush with money at the moment, but don't want to ruin my lovely car with crap tyres. Can anyone recommend anywhere I can get decent tyres at a resonable price? I was going to just take it into Lexus Nottingham but I guess main dealers will be expensive. Also, can anyone give me an idea of what I shoudl be expecting rearding the cost so I don't get ripped off. (as you can tell, i am not very clued up on cars - just love driving them) Thanks in advance Phil

  9. Thanks! It may only take 10-15 mins at the dealre, but the dealer is about an hour away so it might have to wait tll after Christmas, just hope nobody tries to nick my car without it's alarm :-(
  10. thanks for that suggestion - I think I will give it a try. However, If I remove the battery from the key, will it 'forget' its programming? Will I have to recode them somehow? Or do they permanently remember their codes even without the battery? Phil
  11. Thanks That is what I was worried about Do you think that it will cover by my warrenty - I have only had the car about 8 months? If not, does anyone know how much they are likely to charge me? Phil
  12. Hi Thanks for answering! The other keys have been sitting in a drawer since I got the car (earlier this year) and they both seem to be flat. The light does not work on either of them. The main key has been tested by the RAC is the battery is still fully charged (3v), and the light flashes everytime you press the button. I have no idea what else could be the problem. Anyone any other ideas? Phil
  13. Hello All I hope someone can help me here! Today I locked my car with the button on the key, but when I came back to the car (about 5 minutes later) they key would not work. I ended up calling out the RAC who were not able to help. I have been able to unlock the dorrs (setting off the alarm) and I can now drive the car, but I cannot re-arm the alarm or use the central locking because the car won't react to the key. Any advice will be greatly appreciated - I could really do without this so close to Christmas. Thanks Phil
  14. Hi I am new to all this - but I am interested in a set of these stickers for when I work out the best way to respray my calipers. Since I have now upgraded to 'Gold Membership' can I also get a set of these stickers? thanks Phil
  15. Hi - I am new to this forum (my first post) so please be gentle with me :D I want to replace the gear knob in my IS200 Sport, I think the last owner must have had too much jewlry because it is scratched to hell. Can anyone suggest a particular maufacturer, or will anyone fit? I have been bought one as a present (MOMO Cobra) but I am not too sure it will fit. Thanks in advance. Phil
