  1. This is what is currently fitted: I've looked it up and it's a Yuasa HJ-S46B24R JIS B24 12V AGM, just to be precise. I was quoted £164 (+ free labour), for the battery they didn't specify, which seems about the consumer retail price. It was an ex-demo model and may have sat on the forecourt, unused, for far longer than they said and I let the warranty expire, before realising the battery had deteriorated. It won't hold a charge for more than a few days and has regularly gone flat, as it isn't driven every day.
  2. Thanks. I contacted my Lexus dealership, asking for a quote for a direct replacement, and they’ve tried to fob me off with not knowing what “OEM Yuasa” means. I assume they’ll fit a non-standard 3rd-party one. Can most garages do this - Lexus says it’s a 5 mins job - or do electronics need to be reset, etc? I might stand a better chance getting what I want, elsewhere.
  3. Should I replace my factory-fitted Yuasa 12V battery with the same OEM one, or would a third-party one be fine? Cheers.
  4. Thanks all for the advice. You're probably correct regarding Kwik-fit. It was the clueless mechanics I was particularly concerned about, scratching their heads about why a battery is in the boot and 'what's AGM', etc. Kwik-fit reference using Bosch testing equipment - I assume one of those hand-held testers, with a little integrated printer - so I've found some Bosch accredited garages I'll approach first, before having another go with Lexus. https://www.boschcarservice.com/gb/en/workshop_services_2/electronic_service/battery_check/battery_check
  5. It was an ex-demonstration model and it's coming up to 3 years since it was manufactured. I've taken it to the Lexus dealer and they simply charged it to 75% (I didn't know that at the time) and sent me on my way, saying everything was fine. The website states that, given the lockdown, it will "take a sympathetic approach to service and warranty at this time". If I can avoid the £125, for a replacement, then I'd like to try.
  6. Does anyone know if they take one look at a hybrid or look for the battery in the engine bay and can't find it, and suck through their teeth, saying 'ooh, I can't touch a hybrid, mate, sorry'? The 12V battery on my CT200h Adv won't hold its charge, so I'd like to approach Lexus with as many independent test results as possible, but Kwik-fit seems to be my only option. I've been using a CTEK charger to keep it charged, but I can't keep this going forever. I don't mean to disparage Kwik-fit, but does anyone have experience persuading a garage to touch a hybrid, if the mechanics are wary? Cheers.
  7. Thanks, everyone. Sorry for the delay in replying. Yes, it looks like there is an alarm, after all. It hasn't been tested yet, but the "Off" button is where it should be. The car is my father's actually - I tend to do all this online stuff for him - and I've just got this photo. I think the confusion is the lack of a third little 'alarm' button on the fob, as shown in the manual.
  8. Hi, Could anyone help me confirm my 2017 CT200h Advance has an alarm? I don't want to break the window to find out. The manual repeatedly says "If Equipped" when referring to the Double Locking System, Alarm and Intrusion and Tilt Sensor. Thanks.
