  1. Update - looks like this car was listed in 2020. No word on where it went since then https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=23&t=1888246&i=4800
  2. Hi Rustix, does your mate's car still exist? It looks to be one of 2 surviving examples, if it's still around. Would be cool to keep and restore https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls-1st-and-2nd-gen-1990-2000/909846-allard-p4-ls400-2.html#post11173198
  3. I agree! It's definitely great to see it, and it's looking all original too with a good shine on the paint. My 91 has 205/65/R15 tires on it. Definitely small in the opinions of many, but I absolutely love the look and the ride! The previous seller, Downs Auto, did advertise the car as being from Top Gear, but no interest seemed to come from it. 😞
  4. I just noticed this ad while browsing the internet, and recognized the plate immediately. The same LS 400 featured in Top Gear's 1990 review of Lexus was recently sold on August 3rd, 2018 for only £720.00. The car remains mostly original, retaining most of its engine covers and miscellaneous trim pieces, but it has unfortunately had rear end damage on the left quarter panel that left a scratch and dent. The car has also had a tow hitch installed on it at some point. This LS was last up for sale by Downs Auto in Epsom, Surrey, with 159,000 km in January, and I don't believe it had the quarter panel damage then. It has been driven 5,000 km since. Here is a mirror of the Ebay listing, with a few images: https://picclick.co.uk/Lexus-LS400-1990-40-LITRE-RED-CLASSIC-CAR-273375368319.html [ The scrape appears to have caused some rust. Hopefully this can be mended quickly, before it expands ] Here is the original episode, for reference: I do hope that whoever bought this car takes good care of it, as it is a part of Lexus history and a very early production model (4/19/1990).
  5. Fantastic job with the alternator! Your photos were very helpful to me, over in the states. Random question - are you Schaefft, the 3D modeler? Your work inspired me long ago. Happy to see you've joined the LS/Celsior owners club! EDIT: Since your original post is from May, some of these answers may have already been given, but here is some info I can provide: 1. Your current wheels are the 1995-1997 LS 400/Celsior 16" alloys. You are looking for a set of 1993-1994 16" rims that look like these: 1990-1992 15" alloys will not fit on your car, due to the larger brakes installed as one of the revisions. 2. One of my relative's LS 400s has a blue interior as well. It is a 1991. Blue interiors seem to be fairly uncommon, so it would be best to get your steering wheel retrimmed with new leather. 3. For your instrument cluster, fading needles is a problem that some owners have faced. LexLS has a great tutorial on how to remedy this issue: http://www.lexls.com/tutorials/lighting/clusterneedlerepair.html If you need any more photos of the cluster disassembly, I have some I took when I repaired my tachometer last year.
