  1. there giong to be unsold 2008 cars not the face lift models still a bargain
  2. quick check on autoweb.co.uk you can get a 220d se for £199 plus vat 6 + 35 payments based on 10,000 miles per year. sometimes it works out better to do it on a lower milage say 10k and pay the charge which normally is £60 per 1000 miles over, this is something i did on one of the works vans we had on contract hire
  3. Depends how much you can get off the price on outright purchase, if you don't think you will lose £12k by buying now and selling in 3 years time, that might be a better option (which if you really can buy for £19.5k, is definitely the way to go) trust me you will loose 12k mine is 2 years old and has lost 12k, i did mine on a pcp which with the current climate was the best decision
  4. i joined the specials, did 6 years and got to see the darker side of life loved every minute. i went for the regulars and passed all the exams ect at the final interview they advised me to do the specials for a year as my earnings at the time would have dropped 20k,and to see if i was still as keen a year later i ended up doing just over 6 years and never went into the regulars one reason was the financial aspect and the other was that after 6 years its not as glamourous as you see on tv, i ended up as a section officer which is similar to a sergeant, i passed the advanced driving course and used to patrol on my own and deal with the same situations as a full time officer would deal with. i would say give it a go you got nothing to loose
  5. sorry to see you leaving, you have made some good contributions to the forum over the past year or so, obviously not all of them were welcomed by certain individuals but thats what the forum is about as said its not a fan club. i too will soon be parting with my lexus but will be popping back now and then to see whats happening and one day you never no i may get another, but it wont be a 220D. good luck mate and all the best simon
  6. you got a deal on mine if you want it, its a 220d 56 plate 28,000 miles fsh its on a 3 year pcp due to expire in nov 09 i can hand it back now or buy it outright for 12k trouble is its just over 2 years old and only worth 9k so if you fancy it 12k and its yours
  7. mine goes back in april its on a 3 year pcp i have reached the halfway point and im handing it back the the car has lost so much in value and im so happy i did the pcp thing. when they collect they inspect the car i was told that stone chips and slight scratches less than 25mm are ok, damaged alloys dents ect will be charged for at lexus rates, so im getting my alloys done before it goes back
  8. dont do it, do a search on here and after reading the posts i think your mind will be made up
  9. things i dislike are ratlles and creaks poor paint quality services every 10 k having to top up the oil before the service is due 2 sets of tyres in 28000 miles 3 if you count the ones that came on the car poor mpg lack of interest in solving the poor mpg issues things i like are the car looks fantastic
  10. the score board is a sales tactic to make you think that they are doing well and people are buying, go in after the event and i bet theres no score board
  11. 33mpg your a lucky one, mines 29/30 if you read the form you will find plenty about this issue some getting better mpg whilst others like me and you in the low 30's make sure that your car has had the ecu re-map and injector change, mine has but it hasnt helped
  12. they have too many in stock hence what looks like a closed vip event virtually nationwide to shift some stock.
  13. sales decription act.the goods are not as described i would go in and have a chat see if they will take the car back or put it right. also if they thought it was a sport you would have been charged for one as the standard s would have been cheaper
  14. thank god for that i thought i had a virus on my pc
  15. heard from a friend of a freind so may not be 100% that they are from lexus gb the cars that there staff use then they try to sell onto lexus dealers via closed auctions, the lexus dealers dont want them as they are fully stocked as they arnt moving any cars hence what looks like a vip closed event to current lexus owners nationwide to try and move some stock
  16. when i owned it it had 1 previous owner who had spent around 8k on it its was mint he had a new engine init which was the same bhp as a rs turbo, it was scary to drive at speed as it was a cabriolet with all that power, the wife said no by the way
  17. just searching e-bay and came accross my old car for sale item no 140297443747 i might put in a bid if i can persaude the wife
  18. direct cars in sheffield are selliing 08 220d's for 12.5k
  19. lexus sheffield had one in oct last year and i got a card saying there was another one in feb this year, i think they are just reacting to the current climate and want to get shut of some cars cheap,
  20. i went past today on my way into work it looks like a lexus forecourt, there are even more round the back waiting to be put on the forecourt when theres space, no doubt lexus sheffield wont be to happy, i cant believe how cheap they are and there not even a year old they must have got one hell of a good deal to be making a profit and selling them at just over 12k
  21. have a look at this site www.directcars.co.uk there selling a 07 plate 220d for £9995 and 08 plates for £12,499 these are not even a year old.they even have a 06 sport for 12k 250 arnt that much more the sales guy at my local dealer told me about this place and hasnt a clue how they are selling them at this price and they have around 30 parked up,
  22. i bought the fiesta from the car people for £5800 i couldnt budge them on price i even left my number and left it for a week before going back all i got was 6 months tax, they price them low to attract the buyers, they are selling 07 plates for the same price i paid for my 57 plate 6 months ago www.thecarpeople.co.uk
  23. its a 57 plate fiesta so 18 months old has lost less than 30% of its value compared to the lexus which is 24 months old which has lost over 50% i feel it was the best decision i made with the pcp i would hate to think if i was buying it that i would be in massive negative equity. i also got the impression as also stated that lexus financial didnt want to to hand it back as they didnt want it, they even asked if it was for financial reasons and i got the impression that i could have got my payments lower if i decided to keep it.
  24. im going to hang on for a while before replacing as i have 2 other cars a fiesta which has risen in value, and a subaru impretza which was one of our old company cars, im looking at getting a porsche or similar 2 seater but will see how things go, i cant believe just how much the prices of lexus have dropped, the sales guy at lexus said there is a used car supermarket selling 08 plates around 12k
