  1. Dear all, for a while now I wanted to install a 4ch DVR in the car, and connect the existing reversing camera, and the camera in the left mirror, as well as add a new camera installed on the rear view mirror, and possibly one looking at the right side of the car. Whilst adding new cameras and installing the DVR is not a problem, I was wondering if anyone tried interfacing with the existing cameras? are they analogue, compost - or some proprietary format? Many thanks, Paul
  2. Understood No playing arround for me then. - shame though, it would have been so much better to learn all the Lexus connections. time to do it by the scientific method of "rulo of thumbo"
  3. A though has occurred to me after watching government advertising about the evils of going 5 MPH faster then the limit – were do the wrecked cars go? To aid me in my current project if installing a computer in my Lexus LS400, I could use a cheap lexus touch-screen that I can completely disassemble to learn how it works. Surely there are some junk yards witch have wrecked lexuses, that I can get the parts that I need, or had this market been cornered by used parts dealers? Andy leads are appreciated!
  4. Resolution is not a problem – I am not going to do 3D drawing on my car computer, - mostly playing MP3s perhaps DVD player and/or TV tuner. I will see how it goes. 800x600 with large fonts would be perfectly usable on my LS400 screen. – a touch-screen will make it perfect :-)
  5. I was wondering, since there are no more then 10 manufacturers of touch-screen matrixes and it would be reasonably easy to source USB/PS2 boards for them, would it be possible to connect to the lexus touch-screen? – if, for example, the lexus touch-screen connects to the motherboard of the head unit via a ribbon cable, then it would be difficult to cut it without doing permanent damage. If it connects via some sort of TTL signalling, it will be just the matter of connecting a few cables, and ipso presto, no need for silly remote controls to control your PC… Theoretically it would be possible to have both the lexus system and the computer connected at the same time without interfering with each other. - Did anyone try this? - Did you remove your head-unit and know what it looks like on the inside? Any leads are appreciated!
  6. Problem with converters.tv is sorted – apparently they are implementing changes to their order system. Now I am working on a relay. - I was thinking of connecting a 12v relay to the HDD connector of the Morex DC2DC converter. - This way when the computer will switch on, the relay will be powered, and switch the screen from the NAV computer to my PC. I will keep everyone posted :-)
  7. Thanks! I compared the cables to the pinout you gave me, seem to match :-) now time to get the VGA to RGB+S converter. this converters.tv people do not like my address for some reason, says that "no curiers deliver to your location) he he he
  8. I read with great interest how people connect PC’s, DVD players, and rear view cameras to their satellite navigation screen. If I understood correctly, you can connect a RGB signal to either the unit in the boot, or the actual screen, however, no one said how :-( Can some kind soul point me to a schematic of the connector, and a place to buy one from? An ideal scenario would be a female connector, my connection, male connector, that would sit in between the original cable and the nav unit. I do not want to mutilate the cable, so I can remove the add-on without anyone knowing it was ever there. Any pointers to schematics will be greatly appreciated! Many thanks, happy Lexus owner.
  9. Does anyone have a copy of the Lexus navigation CD newer then 1997? (they are sitting inside the NAV computer in the boot of the car underneath two layers of carpet) My one does not know a lot of streets, and there were a lot of changes to the streets in London, one way, no entry, and so on. If you leave around Watford, I can come down to you with a laptop, and it will only take me about 10 minutes to copy. – And the beer is on me :-) Many many thanks!
