  1. Am I going mad? I have a RX400h 2009 model and I'm sure I used to be able to exit the car and it would lock automatically after about 10 seconds, if I had forgotten to lock it, . Am I dreaming this? The 'auto-lock if doors not opened' function IS working (i.e. you unlock the car using the remote and if you don't open the doors then the car with auto-lock in about 15 seconds). Can someone tell me if the car will auto-lock after exiting it? If so, is this something I can re-program myself?
  2. I can highly recommend www.keytrader.co.uk They have just cut a new key for my Lexus RX400h (2009 model) after the plastic key shell totally disintegrated. I'd tried to order a replacement on eBay but the blank blade comes permanently attached to the plastic key shell, and my blade worked perfectly it was just the plastic bit I was after. Keytrader cut the key from a photo (how does that work!?) that I emailed them, and as soon as I inserted my remote control module into the new key shell I was able to open up car and start up the car. Took 2 days, and all for a tenner including postage. Now what would a Lexus garage have charged for that! Grateful thanks to two members of this forum for this recommendation. What a wonderful thing this Forum is.
  3. OK, a million thanks to Lee Riley and katabrontes and others who have recommended www.keytrader.co.uk They have just cut a new key for my Lexus RX400h (2009 model) after the plastic key shell totally disintigrated. 4. Thanks Lee. It sounds like this is the way to go for me. Will post on how I got on.
  5. HI there, I am the proud owner of a RX400h 2009 and love it. I have both keys (the master and a sub) but the sub which I use every day has finally fallen apart and all the sellotape in the world won't stick the plastics bits together any more! I was going to buy a replacement plastic key on eBay but have noticed posts here, and also listings on eBay stating the plastic part is permanently fixed to the blade, and whilst you could install the existing remote workings from one key to another, it's the blade which you can't swap. Does anyone have any answers for me on that one? I live in Buckinghamshire and nearest Lexus dealers are 40 miles away!
  6. Hi, To find a bit of help, do the following. 1. Go to the Home page for the RX300/RX400h/RX450h Forum. 2. Scroll to the bottom of page 1 and find page 5 (I think it is on page 5). 3. Go to the Heading....'Lies, damned lies etc' submitted by Allister. 4. Go to page two of the Replies and scroll to the first HASSELBLAD reply. 5. Read on from there to the end. That is about the RX450h but nearly all of it applies to the 400h too. My 400h was excellent and my 450h even better. With coarse, slow diesels I used to get 26mpg and with our much nicer Range Rover petrol we get 17mpg. The notes referred to are not exhaustive but hopefully they will help a little in showing how a hybrid genuinely can give very impressive mpg. Thanks Hasselblad, I'll check that out.
  7. Kernowlexus, I've just done exactly the same thing! Had an RX300 SEL for 8 years (of it's 12 year life) and it's done 139,000 - never broken down, always reliable, comfortable, etc. Was unhappy with the fuel consumption though so started looking round at other 4x4s - Kuga, RAV4, CRV, Quashquai, Tiguan. Whilst they would all have been more economical than the RX400h I have just bought, I was soooooo disappointed with the lack of refinement and spec. All the stuff in the Lexus you take for granted, and it's a sorry situation to be test driving cars without all those little touches. Hence why I eventually (after 18 months of looking at different car models, and driving my husband bonkers in the process) went back to a Lexus. Good luck. The RX300 is a fine car.
  8. I've just bought a RX400h (after having owned an RX300 for 8 years of its 12 years of life, without a single incident or breakdown), where can I find out about the 'hybrid driving technique' referred to earlier in this topic. I changed to a 400h because of the poor fuel economy of the 300.
  9. Thanks you Gecco - I guess the 'player' is in the boot somewhere? I will double check what version I'm on before comitting.
  10. Hi, I think the Sat Nav in my RX300 (year 2000) is out of date. Can I buy the latest disc and install it myself, and if so, where from? And anyone know the rough cost. Or is this something that the Lexus dealer has to do?
  11. Hello All My RX300 is 4 years old and is due its 48,000 service. Should I have this done at a Lexus dealership (the previous owner always had it dealer-serviced but then he had more money than me!) or use a local indepedent garage with a good reputation. Will a local garage know what to look for in a Lexus at this age / mileage? Or does anyone know of any ex-Lexus mechanics working in the Buckinghamshire/Herts/Middx area?
  12. Doh, clicked on the wrong box!! Joe you don't say where you are based in the UK, it would make it easier to know if lending you a CD is viable

  14. Hi Cracker and Colin I vote that this is the next piece of development work they do on the SatNav system - most other satnav/gps systems work on postcodes these days.
