  1. Due to a small bump my partners car is in for repair and we have a courtesy car - Its a Dacia Jogger. Driving it at night I've noticed how much better the headlights are than in my IS - like hugely better. When I first got my IS I changed the bulbs to osram nightbreakers, but that would have been 4 years ago and about 100K miles since - a lot of that at night - do the bulbs dim over time? Just wondering if its worth changing the bulbs to see if it helps. On another note I'm surprised at the level of spec in a mid range Dacia - it has keyless, climate, android auto - nice spec for a budget car however its 1.0 engine is quite peppy but only getting about the same MPG as the IS - had expected a little better
  2. I did initially think it was the latch not closing but I think the cable had corroded inside the sleeve as it was stiff and not moving all the way back when the bonnet closed so it gave the appearance of the latch not closing properly, but in reality it was being held partially open by the cable not retracting fully.
  3. 259K - I purchased at 4 years old / 160K with full history (stamped book and all dealer invoices) - only thing I could see in the history was a new auto wiper sensor. Since I've had it the only repair was a dodgy bonnet latch cable - everything else was just servicing / consumables
  4. I see he hit more than one car "during the afternoon" - if you take a look at the video on the daily mail site its a corsa he hit......not sure if this was before or after the prius - to be honest £700 fine and a few points feels a bit light for what looks like more than 1 fail to stop
  5. Most likely to be the bulbs - mine displayed similar behavior and fitting new bulbs resolved it. Xenon bulbs don't fail in the way a traditional bulb will
  6. My experience was nice coffee and waiting area but beyond that no better than others - My IS is now way to old to bother with dealer servicing, but in the past I had 3 services where the car only got washed once - first time they called to say drains were blocked so no cars being washed, second time was just an interim service - told no more than an hour so I waited - after 2 hours said I couldn't wait any longer so it was handed back unwashed. My CT came from another dealer and they were also pretty average - when I gave feedback to Lexus that my experience was "average" and that a few minor points were not addressed before pick up the dealer principle rang me and left a quite irritated voicemail basically demanding I call him to explain why I hadn't given them 5 stars - I called him back - both times he was "busy" so would call me back.....never did and I never went back there. My previous experiences with VW were always pretty positive (and cheaper)
  7. Its available as part of an option pack on the base model. Strangely on the F Sport design you cant even add it.
  8. I'm surprised, but looking at the spec sheet its the only model where it isn't even available as an option - I thought it was a pretty standard item on Lexus
  9. To be honest I got out of the habit of checking the oil on the IS because it never dropped between services - probably should check it really
  10. Marshall Bristol's new dealership has been offloaded to Listers - had the email back in the week to confirm they had taken over. As I understand it there was some level of unhappiness from Toyota over Constellation and their acquisition of Marshall (who in turn took over motorline) - not sure if that was due to the number of franchises held or other issues
  11. Well Marshals are not giving anything away! I'm sure they are not "bad" but others having the recall at other dealer groups are getting freebies, but Marshalls give nothing and are suggesting they will start charging for courtesy cars. Really don't understand why Lexus operate fixed price servicing but allow dealers to vary their offering - the experience should be the same regardless of which name is over the door
  12. Maximising profit as its up for sale - apparently Lexus/Toyota not happy with Constellation having so many dealerships after the acquisition of Motorline so they are being made to offload some - I know the new Bristol site is for sale and I believe also Cardiff
  13. Had a non OEM screen fitted by autoglass a few months ago - no issue and very easy to organise - just gave them my insurance details, paid the excess and they did it on my drive - auto wipers/lights work just as before
  14. Not sure if there is any adjustment, but I can confirm in my 2014 with the standard stereo the quality of the calls is very good to the point that I have had people not realise I was hands free in the car so hopefully there is something you can sort to improve yours
  15. I bought my first Lexus - a CT from this branch - sales experience was "OK" but prep of the car was not great and a few minor cosmetic issues they said they would fix were not (or they had attempted to but not done much) They were not my nearest dealer (Bristol is) so I didn't plan on going back to them for servicing, but Lexus asked me for some feedback on the buying experience - I replied honestly about the bits that were good and not so good (think I marked them a 3/5 in some areas) - anyway, this got fed back to the dealer principle who was quite put out and left me a voice mail asking me to explain my scoring to him and expecting me to call him back. I called once to be told he was with someone but wanted to speak with me so would call back......he didnt, I called again a few days later to be told he was busy and they would tell him I called. Never did get that call back and never followed it up, but it was interesting that Lexus feedback scores appeared to rattle him - this was a few years ago so things may have changed
  16. Not a good sign - I'm getting 30K out of a set of tyres so its a bit odd to have changed both front and rears, and presumably not together to be different brands. Just looking at the on line history for mine and it tells you where it was serviced - Just call them and ask
  17. Mine also is only recognised on the portal by VIN but it had a plate change (was on a private plate before) - to be honest I would expect anything logged against the VIN to be more accurate. Did you do any kind of HPI type check as that will throw up if the plate was changed at some point
  18. Thats what I've got - fitted last month - so far so good
  19. Still not been "invited" yet - @matt8 did you get a letter?
  20. I have been a little dubious about "sealed for life" fluids, however, I also think that Lexus service schedules are a little OTT so if I think they had the slightest justification to charge for a fluid change they would. On that basis I've not changed mine and its now at 233K on the original fluid - not sure now I will ever change it.
  21. I'm still on the original at just over 8 years old and 230K - I think they appear to last better with regular use
  22. Just got the same on the Lexus checker for my 2014, but on the https://www.check-mot.service.gov.uk/ it shows as outstanding
  23. Just to add to this - I bought my 2014 IS in 2018 with 165K on it but full history. Originally supplied and serviced by Reading. The only repairs showing in the history beyond servicing and consumable are a auto wiper sensor replaced under warranty and a bonnet latch. Its now on 230K and just keeps going - the interior is getting a little creaky in places and I did have to replace a DRL and the transition between engine and EV is not quite as smooth, but I cant really think what else would rack up those miles so flawlessly. PS - still on the original 12V
  24. Thats also my experience - Mine had 160K on it when I got it and full main dealer history. When I looked through all the receipts and on line history the only things outside of servicing were a auto wiper sensor (replaced under warranty) and a bonnet catch. Since then I have done another 65K and the only thing I have replaced outside of servicing is a DRL which broke after someone hit the car and drive off in a supermarket car park
  25. My understanding is it operates between 20 and 80% - I think the only time I've seen all bars lit is during a long downhill run
