I have just bought four winter tyres, Pirelli Sottozero Series 2. I tried all the usual sources and they all came in at about £1400.00 I eventually got them from Oponeo off the net at £964.00 inc.VAT and delivery. The only problem is getting someone to fit them, all the usual dealers will not touch them but I have now fond someone who will. Dave.

If the tyres are directional, they would usually have an arrow on the sidewall indicating the forward direction.

I drove all the Lexus range during an open day about six years ago and was very impressed with the then RX450 although I doubt it bears much resemblance to the one you have now. I am going to get some winter (cold weather tyres ) for my GS and I have read more than once that these tyres fitted to a rear wheel drive car actually out perform a 4x4 in bad weather conditions. Can anyone comment on this?

Rayaan, Yes I bought it from Stockport in June this year and had the roof and mirrors wrapped with carbon fibre. Did you not like the GS or just prefer the RX? I traded in an ISF and miss the performance, but this car is no slouch and it has far more goodies. Dave.

Yes Chris, your experience with the law is all too common, they always seem to take the side of the scrotes if you lay a finger on them. I think I would have been inclined to report the useless copper for his attitude and lack of consideration to you, probably would not have done any good though. I always look around my car when I return to it expecting the worst, people opening doors on to it, trolley damage etc. Most of the time I think it's just plain jealousy and I would have done the same as you and bugger the consequences! Yes, it is second generation carbon fibre, much improved from the original, the roof was £180 ane the wing mirrors £90. Will post some close-ups tomorrow.

Hi Damien, I have not been on a long run yet, but it easily does 35 around town and that's with booting it now and then. The interior is superb, it's in red leather ( not the reddish brown they use on the RX ) there are some really great touches in the design, love it.

I shall upload a recent photo with the roof done, I am not sure what you mean by a CF roof? It was done by an independent company in Birkenhead, much cheaper than the Lexus quote.

I sold my ISF in July, very reluctantly and now have a GS450h F Sport which I love. I miss the raw power of the ISF and the rarity value, but having said that the 0-60 of F Sport is only just over a second slower than the ISF, not bad for a very heavy car. When it is in Sport + mode, the rear wheels turn slightly to aid cornering and the handling is good. The technology of the GS is amazing with its 12.3 inch screen and many other extras. Don't get me wrong, I do miss my ISF but in all honesty, I wouldn't change back. Just had a black carbon fibre roof added together with with mirrors, looks the business.
