  1. My old NX was a Jan 2018 registered car and was successfully upgraded (larger wide Nav screen) Some dealers did upgrades for free whilst carrying out a service, but most as Colin said charged between £80-£100. It takes quite a while to do and get right so I understand why there is a cost. If it goes wrong your entire media system is bricked.
  2. The wider 10.3 screen doesn’t take an SD card (if it did there would be an SD card slot behind a flat on the panel behind the gear stick). The wider screen has updates installed via USB that are downloaded from Lexus-tech.eu Look at my other threads for details on how to install. There may be a charge if your car is over 3 yrs old.
  3. 2018 model? Are you sure it needs an SD card? What sizes screen does it have?
  4. It can be done if you have the right nav system, but not recommended as there is a high chance of bricking your system. Whilst I successfully installed the upgrade in my old NX, there were a number of people that had failures. You would be better off contacted your nearest Lexus centre and enquiring about the CarPlay upgrade cost. From what others have said it is anything from ‘free’ if you are having a service up to around £100 (as it does take quite a while to do). This info may be out of date though. l’ve just looked on the tech website and the software looks like it is still there to download - I don’t have a current subscription to check though. From memory you download the instructions and the download links are contained within these instructions.
  5. AC means it only works the Apple CarPlay and not Android Auto. I used to have one of these devices and found it worked very well (no longer own the NX). I never had any issues with CarPlay either wired or wireless using this device. The device can be seen in action on this video in my old 2018 NX https://youtu.be/s_9WSf2c1Tg
  6. Yes, that looks like the same system I had in my 2018 NX, so it can be upgraded.
  7. Not had my IS since 2018 so I’m not sure what the latest updates are.
  8. A lot of EV drivers appears to have issues with their 12V batteries if you read the various forums. They appear to fit quite small powered batteries which can run down easily with powering the alarm etc if left for a long time or a slight fault drains them. I’ve got two EVs and thankfully haven’t had an issue yet.
  9. I upgraded my own unit when the software was first released and it worked fine. Then I read a number of stories of bricked units and I realised how lucky I’d been.
  10. Yes that system should be able to have the CarPlay upgrade carried out. You have the MM17 / CY17 system. Best done by a dealer. They may charge for this.
  11. Looks like the next map update for the widescreen nav systems (MM17/MM19) has gone live in the last few days - 2021v2 As usual check out lexus-tech.eu for details/downloads (free account required). I've posted instructions for installing in many older threads.
  12. Your pictures show that the main NavDb installed is 2020v1. However on another picture I can see that 2021v1 for your region has been installed on top of this - this will have been done in the car using WiFi. I have done this in my old NX in the past and this is exactly how it looked. If you want the NavDB to update to 2021v1 you can follow my instructions in my other thread, but the maps for your area are already up to date so you aren’t missing out.
  13. It is possible to do it yourself but I wouldn’t recommend it. If it goes wrong you could completely brick your Nav system and need to spend ££££ to fix it. I did upgrade my own last year and realised afterwards how lucky I was when I saw so many reports of failure.
  14. I'm selling my wireless CarPlay adapter if anyone is interested.
  15. I only paid £700 for my Zappi electric wall box charger and is much better than the Lexus one from what I've seen. Good for €500 but I wouldn't say it is worth €2000. (this is without me knowing much about Italy and their electrics)
  16. Looks like the latest maps for the 17/19 navigation system have been released today. Ive documented the update process in the past here: I’m no longer an NX owner but I’ll be updating my mum’s NX in a few days Thanks Phil
  17. New service offering “Lexus Relax” https://www.lexus.co.uk/owners/warranty/lexus-relax Looks like each service extends your warranty by a year - up to 10 years.
  18. I've no idea how the different languages work on the system. As the update files come from an EU site, I would have thought they are compatible with all the necessary languages. The font / graphics can't be changed. Like you I don't find them as clear as the older navigation system. Apart from the bigger screen, I did find this system a bit of a step backwards. However adding Apple CarPlay fixed those issues for me. Unfortunately this doesn't look like an option for you on the RC.
  19. MM17 can be updated to Apple CarPlay but for some reason not on the RC. The update is only for NX, ES and UX vehicles. The USB stick used to carry out the map updates should contain a folder called 'FMU'. This folder should then contain 4 files: FMU_PONC52_1.iso FMU_PONC52_1.iso FMU_PONC52_1.iso FMU_PONC52_1.iso (these are the file names for the current 2020v2 update - 2021v1 should be released soon). This update will need activating using the Lexus-Tech website. You don't need an active paid subscription for this, but you do need an account. I used a Mac and the updates have always worked fine - I would suggest completely reformatting the USB stick to FAT32 and recopying the files across. Remember to make sure you have the FMU folder in the root of the drive and then the files are inside the folder.
  20. It will have just been one they had in stock that they just didn't register until March 2018 - maybe it was stuck in a showroom or a cancelled/delayed order from Japan. Hopefully someone got a good deal when they bought it new - can often happen when facelifts come out. My facelift model was registered in Jan 2018 so you are correct about '67' being the crossover plate for the facelift.
  21. @paulrnxKeep an eye on the deals of the various leasing sites - EVs are good lease bargains at the moment. Our Renault Zoe ZE50 GT Line was only £240 per month which I didn't think was bad for a £33k car (no deposit). There was a cracking deal on a Hyundai IONIQ Electric for only £200 per month with no deposit recently. LeaseLoco, Leasing.com and Gateway2Lease are some sites I look at regularly. The leasing section of WhatCar is also pretty good at times. Leasing isn't for everyone and it took me a while to come around to the idea. However, the last couple of cars my wife had (Toyota Aygo) were worth exactly the same as the balloon payment at the end of each PCP deal. This meant that financially there were pretty much the same as leasing. We moved to EV with the Zoe last October and haven't looked back. It is now our main car as I recently sold my NX. I've not been to a petrol station in 6 months. Charging is either free at my local supermarket (7kW charger at Tesco or 50kW charger at Asda) or at home on Octopus Energy Go-Faster which is only 5.5p per kWh between 8.30pm and 1.30am. This means a full charge of the 50kWh battery is only £2.75 and good for 180-240 miles (depending on the weather). (Note: the Octopus Energy link is my referral link which gets both me and the user £50.00 each when you sign up) The UXe looks like a fab car but I feel it is priced too high at the moment. I also worry about the Lexus decision to use CHaDEmo as the rapid charge connection rather than CCS which is much more common. The only other mainstream car that uses CHaDEmo is the Nissan Leaf (I think!), which while very common at the moment, I believe the next EV from Nissan will move to CCS. While rapid chargers at the moment have both types of connections, I wonder if this will continue in the future as more cars come along with just CCS.
  22. New number plate rules allow fully electric cars to display a green band.
