  1. I am not brave enough to go full electric as yet, certainly in the rural area I am in, and Wiltshire's infrastructure is not that well established! I think the Polestar is a handsome beast, certainly would me my pick over the ubiquitous Tesla. I believe the models are just Polestar 1 or Polestar 2, unless I have misheard which is a possibility!
  2. I certainly will. I had a Mercedes C350e plug-in hybrid before the Lexus, I much prefer the Lexus! Yes, the C350e was rapid, comfortable and I optioned the Premium Plus pack which added almost everything with a panoramic roof, Burmeister sound and so much more. I will miss the Lexus, and I had Apple CarPlay retro fitted when the dealer was offering an £80 deal. I've 10 other vehicles which I tinker with in my barn workshop, and appreciate the petrol-head in you for sure. All the best, Griff
  3. Being built in the good old U S of A. The model year starts in June or July, and if one were to order one today, it would be close to 12 months; indications are that we are on schedule for an autumn delivery. Who knows!? It is a plug-in hybrid, and the 6 year old in me was just drawn to the 455hp!
  4. I ordered a MY23 S60 T8 Ultimate at Christmas when the order books opened on the vehicle; not due until September/October and of course there are options to drop out. No other irons in the fire at the moment.
  5. It was a journey! From March until late June to replace the entire hybrid unit at close to £14k 😳 Thank goodness for insurance is all I can say, and the close call to it being a write off at one stage; save for the well known new build shortage. I will have to hook out the exact dates, but it was about that in the end. Faultless on return, but I’m now moving marques later this year. I am not ‘happy’ to move, but with few choices of Lexus dealer near me, I have lost some faith. Perhaps I will be back, and will continue to enjoy my ES until the autumn.
  6. Just had an email from my local dealer, £80 for CarPlay/Android for my ‘69 plate. What thoughts on this function, or indeed the tempting offer? Thank you
  7. I’m giving them a chance right now.....
  8. So...... According to the rather rude presentation and now left without transport, the car ‘must have been sat in standing water’. The ECU connectors have mud and water in them, the fuse box has evidence of having got rather wet, and the top strut doesn’t look healthy at all. Err, no. I live on a ridge, it does not flood up there; never has. I have, like countless other motorists, driven my car through puddles and standing water during the one of the wettest months on record; but have never gone through a Ford or standing body of water; despite the rather rude instance that I have 🤷🏻‍♂️. Cannot say I’m particularly impressed with what wasn’t even insinuation but insistence that I have left the car in muddy water above the door seals! Nope, not possible, hasn’t happened and I must say I’m rather unimpressed by the attitude. Now threats of a £6K gearbox as well Part one ends....
  9. Yes, good shout! Alas, in tip top condition with a trickle charger when parked for long periods (as I’ve 9 other steeds to attend to). To make sure I did a drop test, and it passed that. I will report on the dealer findings, and have been dropping big hints about only accepting an LC500 as a courtesy car 😆; yeah as if!
  10. Driving along, minding my own business, in the tranquillity of my Topaz Brown interior and then bing, bong and radar cruise drops too. What nonsense is this?! I have to drive myself? Flashing triangle? Check engine light? PKSB off?; I had to Google that too. OK me thinks, best call the dealer; it would have to be a Saturday! "Sorry, no one in, just us poor Sales guys", came the reply, "I can give you Lexus care's number". No problem, good response. 3 minutes on the 'phone to them and 25 minutes later a Lexus care man (disguised as an AA patrol) arrived. Plugged in, cleared codes, scratched head, went for a joy-ride, I mean quality control drive for 10 minutes to see if anything returned, and we are done. Great, a glitch in the matrix, no adverse weather conditions, and a grumbling transmission temperature sensor code. OK, drove around, no return, then a few days later:- Check Engine Hybrid System Malfunction No sign of the other 2, so some automatic nanite technology at play, best call the dealer; and it was 1710hrs so I am really pushing my luck! However, at 1801hrs I have a call and an appointment to see what is what. Of course, the messages have now all gone, all by themselves, but we shall see what is stored. Symptoms? Other than all the steering wheel toys of radar cruise and even volume taken away with the PKSB error, nothing except a noticeable vibration when in Park. Lexus Care? Well, sounded like I had woken them up from their shift, had to rummage about for a pen when a report of a potentially broken one was reported! 😉 Anyone else had similar? 18 months old, and sadly only 16k on the clock for rather obvious reasons! Griff
  11. https://blog.lexus.co.uk/lexus-digital-side-view-monitor/ Jury is out.....
  12. Anyone else have a symptom where the engine continues to run for half a rotation or so, even a slight judder to stop, when switching off the vehicle and the engine is running? Is it to do with the longer stroke of the Aktinson cycle? Thanks in advance
  13. That’s me and my poor choice of solid black 😂
  14. Excellent, I shall try that solution Thank you
  15. My previous car, a hybrid Mercedes, had a reversing camera; my first such experience of this. When engaging reverse, on occasion one could hear a flap lift and the camera would display; indeed there was a menu function to lift the cover to clean the camera, not that I needed to in more than 100,000 miles. On the ES there’s a reversing camera, but it is next useless in this season, and picks up all the rural grime and spray I travel through. Has anyone devised a solution, and solution might be the answer, to keep this clean? Would that I have to put the car in P, get out, wipe the camera, and reverse into my driveway! I’ve got to dodge a few other vehicles, and the photo below shows one, my 1980 Land Rover Series 3 long wheelbase; invisible to the dribbles on the camera! Thank you
