  1. I've had two very minor occurrences of the problem over the past week in very heavy rain. Was in situations where I could switch off and on immediately and problem solved. One instance involved sharp braking and another involved bump over roadworks (both in heavy rain). Ceramic coating? ...yes. Haven't had a problem for a long time before this so not overly worried. The main worry is forgetting that sensors may not be working in tight parking situations
  2. Hey guys! Interesting to see your posts. Hope everything keeps going well for you. I've had no problems now since last February or so and I've travelled through some intense rain from the Atlantic. Gediredi..............I was in IT before retirement. When I was having problems I found that pulling in to the side, switching off and on also cured the problem but, usually, not for long.
  3. I know where you're coming from. Luckily, in my case, the sensors kicked off as soon as the Lexus tech guy sat into my car. I invested a good amount of my retirement pay-out into a luxury car so I was a bit exercised when it didn't turn out as I expected. Also, being retired, I had the time to keep after it. I've been driving Toyota Carinas and Avensis since 1981 without a problem.(First car 1976 Datsun 1200 bought new) I hope to move to EV over the next few years (if I live that long) and I expect to stay with Lexus if they come up with a practical range EV at ES level. Still the best drive ever in my experience. Would love to go EV full time but I have regular long drives down south to meet the family and would not be comfortable on a long drive on pure EV at present.
  4. Just scrolling back over the posts I notice your ES is Oct 19. Is this not still covered by guarantee and why are you trying to solve the problem rather than the dealer and/or distributor? I'm not being clever or sarcastic but my attitude is I paid money for a new car and any problem that arises within guarantee is not my problem, it's the dealer's or, failing that, the distributor's. I kept after them until they took in my car and gave me a new test drive ES for a week while they sorted it. I sent them some postings from this site as proof that I was not alone! I didn't shout or kick any doors but I simply told them I was not going away until they sorted it. I also told them I was quite willing to talk to solicitors if necessary. The blue car looks very well! Mine's black. I think the dark colours accentuate the chrome very nicely.
  5. I agree, kerrso05, it's very possible that the coating could have hardened the rubber rings but I just don't know. I think the coating plus an upholstery protection treatment would ordinarily cost €1,000 here (or about £750) but I got it as part of the purchase deal. The dealer and distributor weren't very forthcoming in discussion over what may have been the cause of the problem. I didn't push them very much once I got a commitment from them that they would fix it. At this point in time the problem seems to have been fixed for me. I haven't seen very many ES300h's on the road in my travels here so the population may not be big enough to show any sign of a problem in Ireland. I haven't come across any Irish owners with a similar problem in my internet searches.
  6. Hi again. Just to say that the problem seems to have been cured in my case by replacement of sensors and software update. At least that's what I was told by the Irish distributor. I didn't try any home remedies as I was determined to follow the thing through by way of insisting on the issue being corrected under the guarantee. I think I may have tried a little Vaseline to no effect. The car was coated with a sunscreen resistant, smudge resistant screen as part of the purchase deal. I didn't ask what the technical name was for it.
  7. Just posting a last (hopefully) update. Since the dealer took back the car for a week I've only had one outbreak of sensor issue in rain. So, since last February/March the car has been absolutely perfect and I've driven through some serious rain. Very happy with the outcome. Very happy with the car. Will buy same again or, hopefully, a full EV version whenever it becomes available. In summary - if you don't get satisfaction from the dealer go to the national distribution agent and make a nuisance of yourself! That's what I did and I'm happy with the outcome. As regards this forum - it was really good to know I was not alone. Bye!
  8. Before I start complaining again I have to say this is the best driving experience i have had in my 46 years of driving. Been driving Toyota since 1981 and Nissan for a few years before that. However, having put a good portion of my pension payout into this Lexus 300h I am not impressed by flashing yellow lights on the dash when I hit a shower of rain in the West of Ireland. (We get a bit of rain here from time to time). Lexus took my car back, replaced sensors (so I'm told) and installed software update. Situation improved but not fixed. Sensors kicking off again. What to do? The car is a year old now. Do I just go with whatever they suggest again until it's too old to follow through? or talk to a solicitor? I don't need the hassle at this stage of my life! Why should I have to try Vaseline or wd40 as a fix for a €50,000 car from what's supposed to be a luxury car brand?
  9. Drove through some serious rain in the past week. No problem with the sensors. Hope it continues.
  10. Lexus took my car in a couple of weeks ago to replace sensors and update some software. Tech guy from Lexus Ireland met with me and the dealer and explained that they have been having some problems in this respect with UX or NX (forget which he mentioned). Said they had that problem solved but this was the first ES where they had a problem. (Do I believe him?) In any case they gave me a 20 reg ES for a week and the tech guy kept my car to check it out. Told me he had driven in some heavy rain without a problem after the fix. He had already told me the sensors acted up when he first sat in the car before the fix. Anyway, everything ok for the past week but I haven't driven in rain and I power washed the car today without a problem. Having said that the car was two to three months old before the problem occurred originally so I'll wait a little longer before final judgement. If all ok I'll post again in a couple of months. Hope you don't hear from me in the meantime! Hope you all get sorted. Great to be able to discuss this with other like minded people. Tried WD40 - didn't work. Didn't reach for the vaseline! Con
  11. Tried wd40. No joy. Same as before. I expect to leave the car with the dealer in the next few days.
  12. Away from home for a few days. Must try it when I get back.
  13. No improvement yet. Rain most days with flashing dash lights and beeping parking sensors. The same on a day after rain. At least I can turn off the beep but it keeps repeating.Sensors are practically useless most of the time as they are over sensitive (bad) or they're not actually working(worse). Dealer could not find any fault or a record of a fault on the system at the first service. Will keep you posted.
  14. Hi Thanks for replying, all of you. I picked up on another post under the search 'parking sensor issue' by user 'gediredi' in the meantime and didn't come back to my original post. Sorry for ignoring you, not intentional but I'm not familiar with posting on a club website so I just followed what I found. There's been a lot of interaction on the other post mentioned above. Short answer is that Lexus Ireland will take back my car for a few days to replace sensors, check it out and give me a loan car until it's sorted. Will see how it goes.
  15. Same here. Got a call from Lexus Ireland HQ. Said they will replace all forward sensors and take the car off me for a few days to check it out and give me a loan car. May not happen before Xmas. Said no problem provided they come through with the car loan. I've had enough drinking coffee and watching daytime TV in the dealer's reception Was told your video of the stop in rain on the M1 was very helpful. What else would they say. Hang in there. If nothing happens in the meantime Happy Christmas if it's ok to say that in these pc times No offence meant to anyone
  16. Awaiting with interest. My sensor kicked off again yesterday in dry weather.
  17. Not good. Haven't heard anything more on my side. Looks like we'ii have to keep up a campaign of harrassment with a view to getting some compensation or an extra special trade in before the warranty expires.
  18. That can happen very easily. I almost reversed into a wall recently while the lights were flashing. Thought that it was just the front sensors that were out of action but apparently the full parking system goes down. Sent off a couple of mildly ill tempered emails last night. Got phone calls today from the dealer and Customer Relations, Lexus Ireland. It seems they're sending a technical guy from the Dublin HQ to meet me. I hope to meet him in the local pub. He can buy. Will update in due course. Sensors kicked off again today when the weather was damp but not raining. Must have switched off the beeper at least 10 times in as many minutes while driving around town today. Drove for about 45 minutes in the same conditions later tonight with no problem. Cannot figure out a pattern apart from moisture being involved. Possible problem with rubber seals maybe.
  19. Drove for about 100 miles today in rain with flashing lights on the dash followed by sensors kicking off while looking for a parking space out of the rain. Drove later in dry weather but still flashing lights and over sensitive front sensors. I'm taking notes at this stage for future action. Not good enough. I've emailed dealer and Irish main supplier but no response. Thank you for responding. I am getting more determined to follow this up with every response. Spread the word if possible. I've asked people to check with their friends with cars with sensors if they have this problem. A Nissan dealer told me they have some problems with frost on the sensor which I can understand Iam seriously not happy with spending a large portion of my retirement payout on what I thought would be a car I could leave in my will!! (Joking. I'm going to live to 100 just to see this through.) To Gediredi I think I'll wait until I exhaust all warranty possibilities. Don't want to kill my legal avenues just yet. Con
  20. Thank you BlackCat I will definitely try this Regards Con
  21. Hello again Your 2nd video is exactly what I was getting initially... yellow triangle on the left and two flashing yellow symbols on the right. Thankfully, no sound as I couldn't figure out how to turn them off. As with you they would die when I stopped and switched off but sometimes they would come back to haunt without any apparent reason. The only constant was rain but sometimes with a delayed reaction which led me to think that moisture was getting in somewhere. After the dealer took it back to re-do the protective coat on the radar in the L badge in front (they told me that was the problem) I got the same as your 1st video.... 3rd sensor kicking off when I stop behind another vehicle or turning a corner close to a traffic light or some other object near the right side of the car. Again, after or during rain. I've sent emails to my dealer over the weekend with attachments of your post and another post relating to consumer legislation. Waiting for the phone call on Monday. What are the chances. I'm retired so I have the time and inclination to pursue this rubbish. By the way, I cannot imagine what it must be like being on the M1 on a rainy night in heavy traffic with this sh.., sorry, stuff coming at you from the dash. Con
  22. New Es300h bought Feb. 19. Been driving Toyota since 1981 without a problem. Parking sensors kick off in rain. Galway dealership tells me this is normal. Told them I didn't pay in excess of €50,000 for a car that keeps flashing yellow lights at me every time I hit a shower of rain IN THE WEST OF IRELAND! Didn't swear at her but was sorely tempted. In fairness, they took it back to check it out but it still kicks off in rain when in close proximity to other cars/objects but is not close enough to start up a warning. Not going to let this go quietly. Would appreciate hearing from anyone else with similar problem. Again, I am seriously peed off with having lights flashing at me in a shower of rain and more so peed off with a dealer telling me, in effect, grin and bear it!
