  1. Thanks for the replies, i will have to check the handbook. Definitely no alarm sounded. Also when I got in the car it may have not locked when I originally got to work. As for the back up battery it definitely would not start the car with the key fob. Still worried that next time I could be stuck in the back of beyond but I will do some homework as to the best solution.
  2. Is there no warning that the key fob battery is getting low displayed anywhere? Jumped in my 2 year old UX to go home and it wouldn't start. Fortunately, I work only a mile or so from the Leeds dealership and they replaced the battery free of charge but I am conscious I could have been in the middle of nowhere. Will make sure I keep a spare in future but surprized why it didn't display anywhere. Any advice anyone please?
  3. For me the decision was all about reliability. No good having a fancy car if you are at the side of the road with the hazards on! I did consider a Land Rover Discovery Sport but the reliability is appalling. It is also nice to be treated like royalty every time you go to the dealership- missus has a VW and they are so bad it is unbelievable. Dreadful customer service. I have a UX250h and I average 50.2 at the moment ( 36 mile round trip commute with a 50/50 Mway/ B road split). I tend to average 68 on the way to work in eco mode and a lot less in power mode when I want to get home! Handling is surprisingly good. Loads of safety equipment - lots of useful videos online to go through all of it. Cosy in the back and boot space at a premium but they were not important factors for me. Only criticism I have is over the shoulder visibility is a bit poor but other than that I adore it. Bulletproof-highly recommend.
  4. I am trying to nswer via the "accept" on the display and by pressing the phone symbol button on the steering wheel. Neither accept the call and it just rings and rings. Wondering if it's something with the phone itself though I thought the call would still end when the caller got fed up and cut the call?
  5. Sorry all! Updated profile New UX 250h bought in June this year. Yes the word dense does apply-mea culpa.
  6. At the risk of sounding a bit dense, has anyone had problems receiving calls? When I get a call and press the button to receive, it doesn't accept it but the call carries on ringing, forever! I have to stop and turn the car off then back on again to get rid of it. Driving me bonkers. Could it be a fault or is it something somple I am doing wrong? I am a bit of a technophobe by the way.
  7. good news all Car sailed through MOT today-no advisories. Must be worth £3k now!!
  8. Some interesting replies!! Having been in the car sales game ( again many moons ago) I know how the system works. Usually the dealer would release some profit from the retail vehicle, add it onto trade price of the p/x and the customer thinks he's getting a great price for his old car. I wonder what trade in price Lexus Sidcup gave for the 56 reg SC430 for sale at nearly 15k? No mention of Full history or the number of owners. The margin across the car must be huge. Privately, there is a re-sprayed 2001, 6 owner 161,000 mile car at £5795. The valuation begs another question-why maintain the full Lexus history at significant cost when the return at selling time is derisory?
  9. Not a chance John!! Very disappointed with the whole episode. Superb product, excellent service Dept at Leeds but Sales at Reading have a bit of catching up to do. I know they have to make a profit but £2900 is borderline criminal.
  10. The salesman explained that they would not retail a car over 10 years old as they could not offer a warranty. Bit strange that there is a 15 year old example at Lexus Sidcup for £15k. However, not exactly a hardship cruising around in the SC-when the weather picks up and we are all vaccinated of course!!
  11. just received a ridiculous valuation from Lexus Reading for my SC430. 2001 Full Lexus history- I am the second owner. 93000 miles-silver with black leather-v.g.condition. Was looking at a NX as my bad back is not getting any better but with a valuation of £2900 I will be sticking with the SC (and painkillers) for a while yet!!
  12. Good Afternoon All Just purchased a 2002 SC430 which my brother kindly collected from Hampshire (230 miles away!) 1 owner, full main dealer history and the previous owner recently had the car serviced and MOT' d last week (£1,100-ouch but thanks!) What a machine!! This is, without a doubt, the car I have been searching for all my motoring life. My other car is a Nissan Leaf (no, seriously) so I guess my carbon footprint is balanced out. Just wanted to say hello.
