  1. Thanks.....I`d found something similar to this, using the parking switch, though not bridging out the obd 4-12.
  2. Evening guys and girls. I`m wanting service the brakes on my Lexus NX300H, 67 plate. Does anyone know how I would release the electric parking brake to service the rear callipers. Can this be done after the power button has been pressed to shut the car down, and the key taken away from the car, so the brake system is not trying to ready itself. Thanks Stuart
  3. Have you driven a rx450h, the ride is softer and smoother than a nx300h. Purchase price and running costs will be quite a bit higher, but hey, it`s only money.
  4. I use the same Bilt Hamber snow foam....and find it great. Dirt comes out of places you didn`t know you had. I used it in the hose adapter and with a hand pump sprayer....both ways work just fine.
  5. I`ve managed it......boy was it difficult to prize off. I found that, once the bottom of the fob is opening, a little prizing open from the side further up the unit helped a lot. A new 2032 and all is well.
  6. I bought one like this www.ebay.co.uk/itm/224509002505?hash=item3445c78309:g:Bt8AAOSwfWpg1Fgo It`s ok If you don`t have a pressure washer with a snow foam applicator. But you don`t get quite the same strong foam, but it`s fine with just a hose. Detailers will want to invest in a karcher and snow foam lance.
  7. Hi all you guys n girls. As the title says, I have a key fob with a low battery warning flashing up on the dash when I use this key. I`ve tried popping it open by removing the metal key and prizing it open, it half opens but will not fully come apart. Am I right in presuming it should come apart to replace the battery, am I not being brutal enough, I don`t want to break it plastic case. Any ideas. Thanks Stuart
  8. Regarding the tyre pressure at 2.7 bar.....I looked at the pressure guide on the door pillar. 2.7 bar is recommended for fully loaded at high speed driving. I had 300 miles to drive, all motorway. For everyday driving, I set the pressures to 2.2 bar.
  9. I`m sure I`ve seen on here, people removing there struts and sending them off for a refurbishment.
  10. I got 49mpg on a long drive back from devon a few weeks ago, weather was fine but no need for the aircon, speed were kept to legal speeds etc tyre pressure was 2.7bar. Around town I see 39mpg. Hope this helps.
  11. I think the rx400h ended production in 2009, then the rx450h took over. I was looking for a rx450h, but to get one on a 16 or 17 plate I was looking at £25k-£30k. well over what I wanted to spend. Then I looked a rav4 hybrid, but at this age I didn`t like the interior too much, the 2019 onwards have a much nicer interior, but the values are still high. So I started looking at the nx300h, Much nicer than the rav4, approx £10k less than a similar rx450h and lower running costs. So when I found the right one for me I bought it.......and love it, so nice to drive, so quiet, 49mpg on a motorway run if you keep at legal speeds. What`s not to like. P.S, I`ve driven the rx400, 450, rav4 hybrid 2016 and 2019 and nx300h. I have to say, the rx450h rides the smoothest with the softest ride, but the nx is a close 2nd for comfort and plenty large enough for most requirements.
  12. I`m looking for a rx450h and got a quote only today, £362. full ncb and I`m 53.
  13. I was talking to guy who had a rx400h with a custom stainless system on it. He`d bought the car knowing it needed an exhaust very soon. Went for a stainless system instead of one from lexus. It sounded lovely when he pulled away. Sporty without being too loud. I doubt he could hear the exhaust with the windows up.
  14. I`m in a similar position as mandark, I`m wanting a rx450h but I`ve looked at rav4 hybrids. I looked at a 2016 excel I thought it was rather plain inside, nothing like as nice a place to be as a RX. Running costs would be less, but if I`m spending a large amount on a car, it must be a nice place to be.
  15. Thanks all you guys for the info.....and sorry for the delay in a response. So, I went to look at the rx a few days ago. It`s advert said-- f-sport, 83000 mile, mint condition, no service history(lost),1 owner. So I rang the seller on autotrader and met him..... 1st problem was that I was to meet him at the side of the road, not at the sellers home, but with covd the way it is ill let it go for now. 2nd problem was that the mileage was showing 85000, so he`s he`s using it and I suspect dealing cars from home. 3rd problem was the condition of the vehicle...not "mint" as decribed..not by a long way. Chips and scratches to the paint work, not clean and tidy interior, drivers seat was worn on the base, more than I`d expect for 85000 miles but could be cleaned up with black polish, but the back rest of the drivers seat had 2 small holes torn in it. So would need a professional repair. 4th problem was the front tyres were worn out. So all in all, I couldn`t drive away from it fast enough. Do all the best rx450h get bought up by lexus, because good used ones are hard to find.
  16. Don`t forget, there will be 2 cooling systems, One is for the ice engine, one is for the inverter/electrical system.
  17. Check the coolant levels straight away.....If it`s low on coolant, it won`t flow through the radiator and hearer matrix until the engine and water pump is spinning fast enough. A friend on mine was driving his shogun DID and the heater only blew hot on roundabouts turning right. I popped open the bonnet to check the coolant and there was nothing in the header tank and nothing visible in the radiator......it took about 3L of coolant to fill it to the required levels. The heater worked a treat after that and I would think the engine was happier too. If it needs coolant, get 5L from toyota or lexus....DON`T BUY CHEEP.
  18. I thought it would all be on file with lexus. It`s a rx450h that`s for sale very near to me and I`m interested, but only if it has been serviced by lexus and I can obtain a printout. If their is a cost to this from lexus, that`s fair enough as I see it. I might call into lexus in Leeds to ask about this. Thanks guys.
  19. Hi all. I`ve a simple question. Can a print out of a lexus service history be obtained though a lexus main dealership, when the original service book/history has been lost. Thanks guys.
  20. You could simply have too much oil in the engine...so check that first. if it`s the valve stem oil seals, and it sounds like it is, you could try adding a oil leak stop additive after an oil change using a fully synthetic oil...not a very thin viscosity, and be very sure you don`t over fill. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Wynns-Engine-Stop-Leak-Oil-Treatment-Additive-325ml/164230458648?epid=8008815976&hash=item263ce5ed18:g:WlAAAOSwmv1ezo68
  21. Good to hear about your mot pass. I`m sure lots of owners of lexus and toyota hybrids will be happy to know there car can pass an mot.
  22. I used to use one of those blue tooth to fm radio type devises in my transit van. It worked ok but those little blue tooth ear piece units are better. One big advantage to the radio/bluetooth I had was that it blocked the signal from the vehicle tracker the company I work for had just fitted to all our vans...lol
